good first tripod for my 13-yr old - video

My son enjoys "rail-fanning", using our video camera to capture both freight and passenger trains from nearby stations. Our least favorite feature is the mechanism for swiveling the camera during live shots -- it is tricky to keep the vertical movement steady if you only want to swivel horizontally. Basically, when you want to swivel, it anables all movement and not just the horizontal plane.

Good, lightweight tripod

It's rugged, but has a quick release head for the camera body. Ball/socket head allows for the most flexible camera movement I've seen and works great. I recommend this tripod to anyone. It's even great for using with my smaller camera when recording videos.

A Sturdy Tripod
