This tripod, while not the most decked out when compared to the bulkier ones ive seen, it serves me well enough for a nice shot whenever i wanna get some footage on the go. Ive got a sony fx3 w/ a sgma 24-70mm f2.8 e-mount lens. Its my favorite rig.

I bought a new camera and I needed a tripod. I needed one that could face in all directions with a lot of variation in height. I needed it to be very sturdy and able to hold the camera even when it was facing completely upwards or downwards. Being able to face downwards was also a big thing for me. I'm so happy with this one. I also bought it on sale, but even if it wasn't on sale the price is very affordable. Over all I'm glad I went with this one instead of the cheaper option. I also like the locking mechanism on the grip which prevents the camera from tilting downwards when it's at strange angles so you can make sure you'll keep the same frame/shot.

It was extremely discounted due to being open box, but nonetheless great quality and everything functioned as advertised. The discount made it easily a steal for what I got.

Good tripod for amateurs, pros should upgrade

This tripod is nice for the money and works well to hold my Canon 80D with a Speedlight flash for portrait photography. The above setup is about the max of what this can safely hold weight-wise.
With a long, heavy lens on the camera, the tripod doesn’t feel as stable as I’d like, so pros that shoot long lenses will want to upgrade. To be fair, pros probably aren’t shopping this model to begin with.
For the money, I’d buy it again. It has served me well.

The trigger adjuster lets you position your camera and lock it in place really fast. You'll have to practice moving your camera during a video recording. I find that I have to steady the camera with one hand and use the trigger with the other to limit shaking.
I have to admit this is the second one I purchased. My first one had a problem with one of the locking legs. It has a lifetime limited warranty. You have to mail it back and pay the return postage. So I should have two units pretty soon. So keep your box and receipt, you might need them some day.

Decent build, but probably not for video.

Lightweight, and sturdy. Ball pivot head is smooth, and it's adjusted quickly and easily. The pistol grip release is somewhat awkward, and I imagine would cause extra camera shake while panning in video. But a decent tripod for the price.

Sturdy, lightweight, well-built, and easy to set up and use. The only con is that it doesn't fit well on small camera bag tripod straps. However, that should be a given as it's not a small compact tripod, just something to keep in mind.

A decent basic tripod. I was dubious about the head mechanism when I bought it, however if you are not moving the camera during shooting it is nice to use. Put the camera on and use the trigger handle to easily align it where it needs to be. If you're using it to pan etc it is tricky to use keeping it level. I use my camer in a fixed shot so it works for me.

Excellent Entry-Level Option

I just started product reviews on YouTube and this thing is perfect! It's just a little more than the cheaper tripods that tend to be flimsy, but it's quality enough to keep around if you get more serious and start upgrading your gear.
I use an iPhone which makes this even better for stable video. A word of advice, though: if you're using a smartphone adapter, make sure you use the level app on your smartphone because the adapter doesn't reflect the bubble levels installed on this tripod.
Good luck creating content with this!

I love this tripod. For the price point it’s great for wha you get. I can easily manipulate how my camera sits while it’s on the mount and because it’s sturdy, I don’t have to worry about anything falling over.

This is exactly the type of tripod I was looking for. I'm an amateur photographer so I didn't want to break the bank on a tripod, but I wanted it to be sturdy, light, and versatile. It's well manufactured - i.e. no loose parts or poor fits. It's light and compact so very easy to carry. It's versatile - stand anywhere from about 2 feet tall to about 5.5' and can stand on uneven ground easily. It's easy to use, too. The one con I would say is how you have to screw on your camera to the mounting platform, but this is how all the tripods worked (at least the ones I looked at).

Very good, very light tripod. It has a lot of flexibility in terms of height adjustments. Very easy to use. The trigger handle can be used to turn and pivot the tripod and it has a level window to ensure that the tripod platform is level. The trigger handle is not steady if you want to move the camera only in the horizontal plane, but you can lock the trigger grip level and adjust another lever to move the camera only in the horizontal plane. As a result I have to swivel the camera and not the handle to get my shots. Not really a problem though.

We purchased a Nikon camera at BestBuy a few months, and knew I would eventually need a tripod (so that I could be in the pictures!) We did some research on line, but I wanted to see the product. We looked at several tripods at BestBuy and the Sunpack Platinum Plus seemed to be the best overall product for the type of tripod we needed. It is very easy to use, easy to attach the camera, easy to maneuver the camera once it it attached, and easy to make the legs longer or shorter. We are very happy with the Sunpack tripod and would recommend it to anyone who needs an easy to use tripod.

I was really impressed with this tripod for the price. It is very sturdy and compact. I love the trigger swivel head with level. I found it a little difficult though to pivot the camera without moving the tripod or having to reset the trigger handle. The level is very handy and works well, but it is not very precise. An additional level on the camera plate would be nice to ensure the camera is perfectly level left to right. Overall not a bad tripod for the beginner to intermediate user.

Holds your camera steady. Would sometimes loosen if you move the pistol grip too much, but the ball joint wont move once it's locked

I reluctantly purchase this tripod even though I was told to get a Manfrotto. Since the Manfrotto has no stabilizer bar I went to the store to try them out. My husband, who knows nothing about the tripods or the prices said the Sunpack seemed sturdier. The sunpack was also rated to hold my heaviest lens and flash, so I went for it. The tripod has since traveled the country with no issues. It is super sturdy as well. My only issue is they don’t give you a bag.

Sunpak deserves more credit than it gets. I had one for nearly 10 years until the handle crank broke off. Replaced it with this one. My last tripod purchase was a Manfroto and it was expensive and broke right before a wedding I had to film. This tripod got the job done that my Manfroto couldn’t do. Buy this brand.

I really like this tripod. I was looking at another, more expensive model and opted to give this one a shot; because of the price differential. Honestly, there is no reason to spend twice as much on the other model, because this is essentially the same thing. They both have self-adjusting bases on the legs, so that you can use it on uneven surfaces with ease. They both have a pistol grip swivel head, with a quick release plate to allow for changing your shot quickly and it can support up to 10lbs, so no comsumer level camera/ lens combo should be a problem.
