This tripod by all means will get the job done however....... if you plan on using this for anything other than static photography or interviews maybe consider adding a fluid ball head to this. Even with all the knobs loose it’s still not even close to being smooth when panning. Plus side is that it is very tall. So far has been very sturdy and the included monopod is a major bonus. Been using it to film YouTube videos check is out @theorygarage

    Good Tripod but weak monopod

As a normal tripod, this worked great. But the monopod didn't have a hold the weight of my camera too well. The monopod's legs don't have a locking mechanism. The legs twist tight, but it easily comes loose or begins to sag under slight weight. The only other option is to purchase a separate tripod and monopod with locking joints, but that would cost significantly more. Just don't hold the camera while on the monopod, hold the monopod with the camera mounted to it.

I've had the lowest price Sunpak tripod for several years and it has worked fine for my point and shoot digital camera. So after I upgraded to a Nikon DSLR with multiple lenses I decided to upgrade to a better Sunpak tripod. The first time I used it was on a nature photography workshop. Everything was going fine until one of the legs broke loose from the pin holding it to the tripod head bracket. Best Buy gave me a refund with no hassle but I would not purchase this brand for use with expensive camera equipment.

The Sunpak - PlatinumPlus Ultra 7000 tripod/monopod has been a great buy to support my Nikon D3300. This tripod effortlessly supports the camera in any mild wind conditions even with tripod let's fully retracted. Absolutely no camera shake when talking long shutter photos after releasing the capture button. Also the pan head+pivot adjustments move and lock into place very well. Bestbuy has a couple cheaper alternatives but I would strong recommend paying the extra money for a tripod that does what it should and hold up in time.

Poor quality pan and tilt head

I bought this tripod for my Nikon CoolPix P900 Super-telephoto camera, intending to use it for video. The first time I took it out to use, I discovered that the pan feature is very sticky, so the idea of smooth panning while recording is gone. Secondly, the tilt never tightens quite enough to keep the camera from bobbing downward. This tripod is hyped as one for this type camera and DSLR's, but it's pretty much junk for anything heavier than a snapshooter. Big disappointment!

Found myself in Salem for the recent solar eclipse without my tripod so headed to Best Buy to see what they had. I picked this one based on it's weight and sturdiness. The leg locking mechanisms work very well, as do the pan/tilt controls. Maybe too heavy if you're back-packing but for the casual photographer, this will do the trick. A solid base for pictures and casual videos.

base plate was too small, my t3i's base was bigger than th platform, rendering the level on its tripod stand unusable. packaging says that it holds up to 12.4 lbs. my t3i with a 55-185mm lens n battery pack is less than 10lbs, but th tripod, even with th two bolts tightened completely, was unable to hold th weight of th camera and keep it from typing forward, pointing th lens at th ground. otherwise tripod seemed stable at full extension n would probably work well with a smaller camera. add well as being cost effective for the amateur photographer. returned th product

I was in a bind and had a job which required a tripod. I lost the head from my existing tripod and the only thing I was able to do was buy another while I waited for parts from ebay. This tripod did well for the first few weeks, but after extensive use it has fallen apart on me twice. The handle which tightens to hold the vertical position of the camera stripped, so that means it's basically useless now. I also had a rivet come off one of the legs, which I fixed with some creativity and parts from an auto parts store.

I like this tripod and find it easy to use. I did have to return the first one I purchased within a week because a couple of the screw adjustments quickly stripped out. I am hoping that this does not happen with my second one. I like the leg adjustments as they are easy to use and the tripod seems sturdy enough. Camera also has a nice quick release that is easy to use. I would recommend to friends, but manufacturer does need to make a few minor changes to the Pan/Tilt handle so it doesn't strip out so easily while using.

    Monopod broke after two months

The monopod is the worst part of this product. Didn't work well when it wasn't broken, and now it has broken. The aluminum columns that make up the monopod seem sturdy enough, but the twist action to lock them into place is poor, and easily unlocks if you are turning back and forth with your camera. They are also held together with cheap plastic. Once these cheap plastic pieces break, the monopod will fall apart and become mostly useless. You can still use the product as a whole as a tripod, but don't count on the monopod for much.

I looked at many. This appears to work for those (non-pros) who are looking for something to video soccer/football games. My critisims are that the rotation (from left to right) is threaded, which makes can difficult to maintain smooth left-to-right movement (for those who prefer some resistance); moreover, this can induce some tilt which can be pain due to its inherent design. You can get a nicer one if you spend more $, but for the price point I like it. Try it out, if you don't like it, return it. I'm keeping mine.

This is substantially better than my other one. It holds more weight, which lessens movement of the tripod. I don't love the monopod part, but do like it. It is difficult to remove and becomes top heavy when the camera is attached. (Might be normal, as I've never owned one before). Because it twists, opening up the leg seems flimsy. I'm still getting used to this, but overall I think it is a good product.

Without a doubt the worst tripod for the money I have ever purchased. The first time I used it in the field the Key for tightening the platform to the camera came loose. I continued to use it but if fell off in the field and it was gone. I tried messaging the company but they did not answer any emails I sent. It is now over 30 days since I bought it. I tried to use the Monopod part of the system and it could not support my camera with a 70-200 lens. This is a complete waste of money.

Overall I am still pleased. The original unit broke at pivot points for one leg and brace. The manufacturer replaced hassle free with a newer version that is noticeably more robust. That said, the weak link is still the leg hinges being plastic. I would call it professional grade. For the money, I cannot complain. I’m sure there are heavier duty options, but the size and cost meets my needs.

I bought this tripod to replace another Sunpak tripod that I had gotten earlier (shorter max height with pistol grip version). I returned it almost immediately when one day I picked it up by the handle and it snapped apart. I probably should have expected as much since the previous tripod (the pistol grip) also lost a piece (though after a longer time of use). Both are built of the same poor quality plastic. If you can afford it, I suggest getting a more professional tripod (lots of options on Amazon). Do not buy anything with Sunpak written on it.

Ordered on line during a one day sale. The tripod arrived a week later and broken. The cheap pastic ball was cracked and in two pieces. Based upon the condition of the box, I think I got someone else's return. Returned it in person which was easy but a 30 minute drive. The clerk asked if I wanted a replacement and I declined based on the cheapness of the plastic. I think it would eventually break. Other reviewers had the same problem. Wish I had used the one day savings on a different brand. so much for quick delivery and quality control

    Sticky panning?

I needed something that was taller than my very old manfrotto cos it was showing its age. I had two criterias - something taller and proper panning. Well - panning really sucks or should I say sticks. I agree with the other commentor - panning just keeps sticking - it is definitely not smooth and I keep getting jerky videos due to this. I am going to return it and stay away from these models. Now I am beginning to appreciate my old manfrotto - never had this problem.

For the price this was an ok tripod, however, the legs were not as substantial as I would like. I have opted to purchase a different tripod with circular tubes for the legs and that are spin locking. I felt like the square legs may buckle under a heaver load or is used outdoors and the clasping system to lock the legs would wear down quickly with regular use. If using infrequently and indoors this is probably fine for the average customer.

This is a good tripod for a beginner or someone who is not going to use it that often. For the advanced photographer, it will not serve as a good purpose to you. I had tripod less that a year and the leg connections broke and the leg extensions does not hold up all the time. There were times that I had to reposition the height as one leg would not stay put. It served the purpose for me in the beginning, but the continued use was not useful for me.

I tired using this product when my previous tripod broke. Amazingly this is a much better option. The previous tripod was in the 25-50$ range I believe and after a couple months or serious work the legs broke. This one is very sturdy and built to last. I mean this thing is solid and yet still easy to transport with the built in handle. I haven't used the mono pod feature yet. It having that option wiiit having to buy a separate item is awesome. I'm glad I bought this product
