    Nice Tripod

I bought this tripod to use with my new Nikon DSLR camera. The first one I purchased had a faulty lever which did not allow one of the legs to lock into place. While the return was easy, standing in line at the Geek Squad/Customer Service area for 15+ minutes was a bit much. FINALLY, one of the Geek Squad members asked ONE of the TWO IDLE employees at the online order desk if one of them could help me. (I had approached them first and was told they DID NOT do returns. GO FIGURE) I brought my new tripod home and decided to use it on one of the observation decks in the Mt. Washington area of Pittsburgh. It was somewhat windy, but I didn't know how windy until I downloaded the photos onto my computer. EVERY ONE of them was blurry. While the tripod appears to work properly, I KNOW windy conditions need to be avoided.

A wonderful tripod all the way around. I was pleasantly surprised at how lightweight this unit is compared with my previous tripod and that it has a very welcome folding carrying handle. Another huge plus is that this is a "combination" tripod/monopod. I am a beginner and I immediately fell in love with the monopod! This tripod seems much steadier than my previous one. The one feature I need to become more skilled at using is one of the bubble levels, which seems to be hidden from view once the camera is mounted. Perhaps I am doing something wrong. I made a great decision purchasing the Sunpak - PlatinumPlus Ultra 7000.

When I saw this tripod in store I thought it was great. Some parts seemed more loose and wobbly. Although the metal used is strong and the tripod itself is heavier than others, allowing enough balance to keep it grounded without any issues, it is just portable enough even coming with a handle on the body. Would recommend for someone who doesn't want to spend hundreds on a professional tripod but for someone wanting a little more than the cheap, flimsy ones we often see. Careful regarding the height, it might be shorter.

    Worse Than Older Model

I purchased two of the older model about 2 1/2 years ago. At least one section of the leg broke or fastener stopped working. This model just slide the rotating head into the shaft versus screwing on like the older model. The legs constantly come unsnapped when opening n closing tripod. There's a cap with hook on the center shaft that falls off because it doesn't screw on. Very poor design.

the second time I used it the leg support broke

The second time I used this the leg support broke. It was passed the 15 day mark to bring back so I contacted sunpak and they said I would have to pay for shipping so they could look at it and determine if the warranty would cover it. So I paid 60 dollars for their defective product and they want me to shell out an additional 20 dollars for them to see if a broken leg support is covered under their warranty.I will never ever ever ever buy anything from this company again.

This tripod is pretty light weight but suitable for a dslr with up to a 300 mm lens, which is how I use it most of the time. The 3 section legs when fully extended doesn't put the view finder at eye level, necessitating the raising of the removable center shaft which can also double as a monopod. The tilt head works fairly smoothly but the horizontal panning is not so smooth without loosening enough to make it wobbly. Still for the money (I got mine on sale) it is portable and useful. One should not however confuse this with a heavy duty or even a medium duty tripod under any circumstances. I would not trust it to hold expensive or heavy photo equipment on very windy days.

I rushed out of the house and forgot my tripod but didn't realize it until I was on location. I ran to the nearest store (Best Buy) and found this. I needed/wanted a heavier duty one but this was all they had. I opened it began to set up and one of the legs feel off immediately, I put the leg back in and proceeded to use it but when I attached my camera, it didn't feel or appear safe at all. I have canon 80D with a battery grip and I did not feel safe placing and using this tripod. I ended up shooting the entire event hand held, which still turned out great, but I would have felt better using a tripod.

I am a real estate photographer. This is the second tripod that I have bought from sun pack, and they don’t really last that long. What I do like about this one is that it is tall, but the pivot Volts always come off in the leg eventually breaks, so to risk $1000 and up camera on this brand of tripods is up to you. Gets loose quickly and ends up breaking because of cheap plastic Where the legs fold. Would recommend if you are an amateur shooter, not for a lot of professional production shoots.

I really bought this to use with an outdoor micro projector and, occasionally, with my DSLR. I found the head too flimsy to hold the projector steady. So, I removed it and screwed the projector directly onto the center pole. That worked great. It does mean I have to adjust the tilt and angle of the image by manipulating the legs, but once it’s set, it’s solid. Other than that, it folds up very small and weighs little. Haven’t tried the monopod yet.

This is my second Sunpak tripod; I have an earlier version that I've had for over a decade that I actually prefer to the newer on. The issues with the recent purchase are; 1. Because of the built-in mono-pod, there is no crank to elevate the center platform. 2. The thumb screws really need to be tightened hard in order to keep the camera platform from moving, almost to the point where I'm afraid something is going to break. Just doesn't seem like it was put together correctly. Overall it works, but not as well as I had anticipated.

I have used this tripod so many times since I bought it a couple of months ago. I have yet to use it as a monopod, but as a tripod it is top notch. It has enough height to it that I got some wonderful family photos for Thanksgiving with everyone, including me, in them. I have gone hiking and gotten some good shots out there, also. This tripod is a bit large and does get heavy if you are going to be using it out in nature, so I may have to get a smaller one for that, but otherwise it's a perfect choice.

Well, let's start with the fact I am not a professional photographer or videographer, but I do share videos online all the time and I have won awards for pictures I have taken. So, disclaimer noted, let's continue. Positive: it is small enough to put in a large backpack and isn't heavy. Con: I am constantly tightening my settings and that is frustrating. I am finally at the point of improvising by using a scrunchy to keep my handle and platform steady. I should have known better when the first display fell apart in the reps' hands while showing me the tripods.

The functions of this tripod are fantastic for someone interested in cinematic video or simple video production. As a film student with carpal tunnel, this is the easiest and most functional tripod you could buy for under $100. The only problem is the clips on the legs that keep it extended. The first tripod of this model I bought did not latch properly so it fell down as the legs could not stay at the height I set. The second one seems a little weak as far as the latches for the legs but has yet to fall. I haven't been able to wear it in yet to see if that problem would be a recurring problem.

I haven't had any issues with the tripod not being sturdy enough or breaking. I have actually found quite the opposite to be true. I love the quick release plate that allows me to mount and dismount my camera very quickly. The only thing I don't really care for all that much is the level placement. No matter how I screw my camera on, the level ends up under the camera where I can't really see it. This could (somehow) be something I'm doing wrong, but a feature I was excited about now seems pretty pointless. Still, though, it does what I want in the long run: keep the camera steady for long exposures, etc.

I bought this knowing it wasn't the cheapest around, but also not a pricey model. I know I would use it lightly and thought it would be ok. After a few short months of very minimal use, the handle stripped out to where it would no longer tighten and support the camera. I shoot a Canon 7D with a 17-55mm lens attached most days. The head is cheap plastic and the level was broken when I opened it. I taped it back in the head. This was a great tripod and easy to use the couple times I got to use it. But overall it was a massive fail and I would recommend you spend your money on a better tripod that may cost a bit more. This is junk.

I love my Sunpak Ultra 7000TM, delighted that it's a 2 in 1 and the price was great considering that. I would have expected to pay more. I haven't used it more than a couple of times but so far I have had no problems in figuring it out. Not sure if it was supposed to come with a user's guide but I didn't get one in my box and was pleasantly surprised to read about the bubble level which makes it that much better. The only downfall is that it tends to get a bit heavy when walking around for several hours especially if you have arthritis in your hands. Just be sure to get a camera case that has a tripod holder and problem solved.

Really love this tripod. It is super easy to set up and adjust heights, and I like the platform base that screws onto my camera and then locks onto the top of the tripod. When doing a lot of moving around I can just unlock the camera and base as one unit, keep the camera safe as I re-locate, then quickly reassemble in a new spot by just sliding it in and lock in place with the lever. There is a nice comfortable handle built in for easy carry. I havent used the single pole yet but nice to have if I need it. I've struggled with other tripods before, but with older and arthritic hands this one is a dream for me.

This is a good basic tripod. The option of using the center post as a monopod is nice. The head doesn’t pan all that smoothly, so it’s not great for those kind Pb video shots. I’ve used it mostly to hold a video camera focused on the goalie at soccer games, and it works well-stable with no shake. It’s light weight and feels a little flimsy, but has proven to be durable through several seasons.

This tripod by all means will get the job done however....... if you plan on using this for anything other than static photography or interviews maybe consider adding a fluid ball head to this. Even with all the knobs loose it’s still not even close to being smooth when panning. Plus side is that it is very tall. So far has been very sturdy and the included monopod is a major bonus. Been using it to film YouTube videos check is out @theorygarage

Another piece of junk from Best Buy. The mount which goes on your camera is cheaply made. The handle you twist to tighten the shoe into place is very small and thin piece of tin. Snapped right off on first use. Had to find tools to be able ro remove the shoe from my camera. While shooting then elcipse my camera literally fell out of the tripod! Its not a very good piece of equipment at all. Save yourself the trouble and in the end the expense and get something better. I ended up purchasing a Mefoto globetrotter after this disastrous experience.
