I've had it a month and the three pieces of plastic that opens and closes the Tripod is already broken.

A little expensive for a tripod

The tripod is solidly built. The shoe is very difficult to remove and insert. ONly after a week of using the tripod on a daily basis, the hook for the weight fell off and it is only glued on and is plastic. Disappointing but fixable.

Good for the price, not good for video use.

For the price you get a very useful and functional tripod for still pictures. The monopod feature is a nice plus. Not good for video use as the tilt is very sticky (plastic on plastic) and you end up with a jerky video. Panning works satisfactorily.

Nice sturdy tripod. I think it's a lilttle on the expensive side. For the money I would have perfered a tripod with a ball head. Don't really like the plastic where you put the camera.

I hated this tripod, hated it so much I just threw it away and didn't bother with the time consumption of a refund. It is very cheaply made and the top is just plastic. The capacity weight it says it can hold is absolute false. I was very much under the weight capacity and it would not hold my camera upright without torquing the tripod down so tight I could barely get it off. Would not recommend this tripod.

This is a very good tripod for the money. The unipod is a very nice touch and comes in handy being incorporated in the tripod. A couple of problems: a) the bubble level is not the best quality and is not located in a good place. b) the carry handle has a plastic piece that snaps to the inside (underside) of the handle and it tends to come loose often depending on how the carry handle gets moved around. Otherwise, I like it.

I bought this combo tripod because of the dual tri- and mono-pod capability. It works fine but for the >$50 price tag I was expecting a higher quality product. The leg extension on the mono-pod is difficult to use. The leg extension locks on the tri-pod do not stay locked all the time because some are looser than others. A tightening lock on the swivel fell off.

The Sunpak Platinum Plus Ultra 7000TM, 2-in-1 70 inch tripod and monopod combination, is well suited for lower weight consumer cameras and camcorders. The legs of the tripod are surprisingly sturdy, though I'm not a fan of all the flimsy / low-quality plastic incorporated into the intersecting points. Also, the center rods, that constitute the monopod portion of this package, are fairly wimpy. This is perplexing to me because I actually own a Sunpak Platinum Plus 6700M monopod, and it's well-constructed and sturdy. Of course, low prices usually go hand-in-hand with a certain amount of compromise. The bottom line on this product is that you get what you pay for.

I bought this tripod to replace another Sunpak tripod that I had gotten earlier (shorter max height with pistol grip version). I returned it almost immediately when one day I picked it up by the handle and it snapped apart. I probably should have expected as much since the previous tripod (the pistol grip) also lost a piece (though after a longer time of use). Both are built of the same poor quality plastic. If you can afford it, I suggest getting a more professional tripod (lots of options on Amazon). Do not buy anything with Sunpak written on it.

Overall I'm still pleased. The original unit broke at pivot points for one leg and brace. The manufacturer replaced hassle free with a newer version that is noticeably more robust. That said, the weak link is still the leg hinges being plastic. I would call it professional grade. For the money, I cannot complain. I'm sure there are heavier duty options, but the size and cost meets my needs.

I purchased this tripod to hold up a T5i for video. It works great, but the panhandle will strip the threads. The metal is very soft. The plastic piece that holds the nut in is not glued in that well. I contacted the manufacturer and they sent out a new panhandle for the unit, no questions asked. If they fix this soft metal issue, this can be a great tripod. But for what I paid for it, it's not worth it IMO.

This is my second tripod by Sunpak. Their tripod's are extremely cheap but their quality isn't too bad. I especially like that this tripod has a plastic handle for carrying it around. So far this is the only tripod I have seen with this feature. I can't believe every tripod doesn't have this. It makes carrying the tripod much more convenient. My only gripe is that the tripod doesn't have a pistol grip. The articulating points are plastic and feel cheap but it seems to do the job.

Very Difficult to Lock in Desired Camera Postion

As soon as you let go of the handle after getting the picture framed vertically like you want it, the camera drops down and ruins the framing/composition of the picture. I have tried to compensate by starting out by aiming a bit higher but have not been able to find that happy median between calculated drop and aiming high. It is always too high or too low. Also, with the tripod level, according to the on board level, the camera is not sitting level at all. This appears to be a result of a problem in the tilt mechanism not allowing the camera to return to a perfect horizontal position. The tilt mechanism is all molded plastic. I can't tell if there is flashing from the mold process that prevents it from holding the camera horizontal (normal use position) or not. I had such high hopes for this equipment. It looked really nice, well made and easy to use, but the fact that it will not hold the camera where you point it and not really holding the camera horizontal really over rides the other nice touches.
