Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the sturdiness, lightweight design, and reasonable price of the PlatinumPlus Ultra 7000 tripod and monopod as significant advantages. The included monopod is also a popular feature. However, some users have noted that the panning mechanism could be smoother and that the construction feels somewhat less robust than expected. A few customers also found the tripod's size to be a drawback for portability.

I had to return this item because it is crooked when placed in portrait mode. Landscape mode is fine but portrait mode which most of my photos are taken does not provide enough support and takes crooked photos. There is no way to adjust the tripod left and right when it’s flipped over to portrait style photos. Do not waste your money

I don't know if I just received a faulty product or if it's just truly a trash tripod. I bought this because of the good reviews and decent price point for personal use. I used it once and wasn't too impressed with it as the head seemed a bit flimsy and the knots don't tighten as much as i wanted it to.. It has no control when tilted back to get a sky shot. Today I picked up the trippod and extended the legs. It snapped where the legs connect to the body! I barely touched the darn thing! Literally a single use product and a waste of my money. Trying to get in touch with best buy about getting my money back. We'll see how that goes! As for the product- spend a bit more on a better quality tripod

Surprised at how well I like this tripod unit! I traveled out of town for the Holidays and didn’t think to bring a tripod for pictures. Didn’t want to pay a ton of money for it and didn’t expect it would be much more than a cheap unit to keep my camera steady. Boy was I surprised! The first thing noticed was it was easy to put into service; not a lot (none) assembly required. The flexibility and smoothness of the gimbal head was a nice surprise as going from Portrait shooting to Landscape was a simple twist of the friction knob and the job is done! The hanging hook under center to hold my camera bag and add weight for stability was an excellent feature that I thought would cost a bunch extra to get, but surprise it came with the unit! It provides smooth and quiet operation to set up too. I love the built in carry strap that made it easy to carry the light weight tripod plus I could leave the camera attached to carry it as a unit. An all around great value!

This is an upgrade from my 25 year old tripod. I am very happy with the compactness with all the features it was advertised to have. I especially like the mono-pod in the center that can easily slide out with the release of the holding mechanism. I have used this for night sky photography and it is rock solid yet very light compared to others of equal or higher price.

I wouldn't buy this again (3 month owner)

I purchased the Sunpack 7000 tripod because of 2 primary features. One is the appearance of a good steady device (due to the leg braces connected to the center pole) and the pull-out center monopole. I've had the tripod approximately 3 months and have used it a half-dozen or more times. After using it last evening outside (temps in the 20's F), I folded it up and put it in the back seat of the car, along with my camera bag. When I got home, I brought the bag and tripod into the house, and immediately noticed the tripod was broken. The tripod's 3 legs are each connected to the center pole (for stability). This center-pole connection is a collar which you can tighten to stabilize the 3 connected out legs, and loosen and slide up when you fold the tripod up after use. 2 of the 3 outer leg brackets broke at the connection point to the center pole collar. It appears to be a weakness in the small amount of plastic which makes the connection via a horizontal metal pin (for swiveling). I had also been a bit disappointed with the primary rod handle which extends out from the top camera mount. The handle points toward me rather than away (like on my previous Velbon tripod) so it's always in the way when I try to put my head up to the camera viewfinder. While I liked the built-in monopole feature, I was never fully happy with the rigidity of the tripod, but up until now it was generall usable and I just lived with it. I am going to spend a little more money and find a more quality tripod, and hope I can at least get a refund from the manufacturer, or a replacment and just keep it as a second-hand tripod.

It was a good price for a nice, solid tripod. I needed a tripod that would hold my 150-600 mm Nikon lens and camera and this works just as I need it, I have not used it as a monopod only as a tripod.

This tripod is pretty light weight but suitable for a dslr with up to a 300 mm lens, which is how I use it most of the time. The 3 section legs when fully extended doesn't put the view finder at eye level, necessitating the raising of the removable center shaft which can also double as a monopod. The tilt head works fairly smoothly but the horizontal panning is not so smooth without loosening enough to make it wobbly. Still for the money (I got mine on sale) it is portable and useful. One should not however confuse this with a heavy duty or even a medium duty tripod under any circumstances. I would not trust it to hold expensive or heavy photo equipment on very windy days.

At the cost it’s a great tripod/monopod. Mono capabilities are a big win for any shooter who has to run around a lot, like for weddings or events. It was busted when I got it but swapped it out and haven’t had problems since. I needed it to be sturdy for animation; it’s lightweight, but the hook on bottom would easily hold a sandbag or something similar.

Good Quality, I had this tripod for a year now and it's pretty good to set it up at events. It's very sturdy but I wouldn't use it if you are into wildlife photography as the tripod was not made for quick movements. Overall though I would say that it's a good stationary tripod.

a variation of my favorite tripod of the past, the legs are weighted in a way that the legs fall down with the release unlatched, it falls with the gravity which is why I purchased it. a little finicky and plastic, but the mono pod part is cool. I wish there was an elevation crank but it makes sense that this one didn't have it as it's a mono pod as the main middle of the tripod part

My Primary purpose for this 2-in-1 Tripod / Monopod was to hold a sound system 8 channel mixer on stage. For this it works flawlessly. Even with limited space on stage I can have one or two legs on the stage and the remainder on ground / dance floor if necessary. I can position the controls so that I can reach them while standing up with a band or sitting doing a solo act. During the day I run am a marine electrical contractor. Work exclusively on yachts. The monopod comes in handy when taking pictures for estimates - documenting evidence in damage claims and more. Taking timed family photos over the holidays was a nice bonus as well with the tripod. As a hunter with the use of a after market adaptor and was able to put a "Y" piece on the either the tripod or mono pod and use it to steady a rifle or crossbow. I got far more than my money's worth when I consider all of things I found I can use it for. I'm quite pleased.

This tripod works great! We use it quite often. Super portable, the adjustable legs are nice, and it has weathered well! Good value as well, we didn't want to fork out a ton, and it seems to be doing the job!

This tripod by all means will get the job done however....... if you plan on using this for anything other than static photography or interviews maybe consider adding a fluid ball head to this. Even with all the knobs loose it’s still not even close to being smooth when panning. Plus side is that it is very tall. So far has been very sturdy and the included monopod is a major bonus. Been using it to film YouTube videos check is out @theorygarage

Light-weight and durable. Convenient when you just want a monopod for shooting. OK with a lighter camera but a little under-whelming for a heavier video camera. Definitely a light duty tripod. Mono pod has a tendancy to loosen up in the tripod after repeated use and must be retightened frequently.
