Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the sturdiness, lightweight design, and reasonable price of the PlatinumPlus Ultra 7000 tripod and monopod as significant advantages. The included monopod is also a popular feature. However, some users have noted that the panning mechanism could be smoother and that the construction feels somewhat less robust than expected. A few customers also found the tripod's size to be a drawback for portability.

Good for the money, but not great

Being tall (6'2"), I like that it can get the camera all the way up to eye level with me. It's very solid at full extension and easy to use. The built in carry handle in the center post is nice, and so is the removable center section that becomes a monopod. My only concerns are that a couple of the leg locks tend to be finicky and not want to lock all the way on the first try (or 2 or 3). But once you get them locked in, they stay. If they don't, you know it because the lever almost immediately pops open. My other concern (not as big a concern) is that when you lock the head swivel with the screw lock, if you turn the head counter clockwise with the hand-held rod (don't know what it's called), it is easy to start unscrewing the head from the center post. And it's very difficult to really tighten down the head to the center post without tools. but be careful not to break the plastic. It's debatable whether I would recommend it. There may be other tripods just as good or better for the same money

I was looking for a sturdy full size tripod to mount my phone on while videoing. The the clerk recommended this one. It gets three stars because of the construction at the top of the tripod. The mounting mechanism wobbles and cannot be tightened around the neck.

I purchased a version of this tripod about 10yrs ago and then another when the glue on the monopod eroded and got stuck. For the price, was extremely happy w the first unit. Even as my kit evolved, I kept the sunpak 7000 because I could always find a use for it. When I ordered a replacement, the new one, right off the bat, felt cheap. The metal wasn't as strong. It was lighter thoe. Also it scratched immediately, but not a yuge deal. The edges of the cuts in the plastic where the plate goes were super rough, like it was torn rather than cut. Worst thing is the foam handgrips are much much lower quality, so they flake off immediately on your hands. Never an issue on the version i purchased earlier. It's so bad I had to gaffe tape the handles to not get little flakey foam bits on my hand when using the tripod. Annoying, but at the end of the day, once I gaffe'd it, it was useable at a cheap price. It goes high, its lightweight, its quick to set up, u can buy plates for it. It's good enough still, but disappointing it's not as good as the version I bought 10 yrs ago.

I thought I would try this tripod out being the price was very competitive. This tripod sets up easy, is very sturdy, and the mono pod built in removes fast and easy. Has a great hook in the middle for equipment bag. very happy with this product.

I have filmed live-action cultural dancing for over past 10 years with over 3,000 edited & uploaded HD videos on social media. Filming indoor & outdoor, in wind, on natural grass, on dirt or sand, etc, this tripod is very versitile, offers a steady filming platform, with awesome steady panning. Not too heavy to carry all-day, or night. Quick & easy set-up, or transition to a different scene. And, very sturdy over the years.

The Sunpak tripod I purchased is very handy! it has a mid level stabilizer, two levels, a handle to carry ,4 stage leg system and it is very light weight. This will work for light travel photography. Overall an excellent buy for the money!

This thing is sturdy and light. I needed a tripod that could extend 60" without breaking the bank and this one was it. Excellent tripod for the price.

This trifold is so easy to use and it holds my large binoculars in place extremely well. I had no problems setting it up, or collapsing it down. Its lightweight and easy to carry and its fully adjustable and stable on uneven terrain. Its compact enough to store in a closet when not in use and travels well in any size vehicle. Im very impressed with this product.

Still to new to give full review .Lot of plastic but has stood up so far. Many nice features for good price. Monopod was why I bought this, good and stable at full height. I use it weekly for volleyball tournaments. It's sturdy and good features for price.

Pretty stiff, well balanced tripod. I mount a Nikon D7000 with a 300mm lens which is pretty heavy (about 10 pounds) and it handles it very well. Love the monopod although its not for heavy cameras and lenses. Would definitely recommend.

I tired using this product when my previous tripod broke. Amazingly this is a much better option. The previous tripod was in the 25-50$ range I believe and after a couple months or serious work the legs broke. This one is very sturdy and built to last. I mean this thing is solid and yet still easy to transport with the built in handle. I haven't used the mono pod feature yet. It having that option wiiit having to buy a separate item is awesome. I'm glad I bought this product
