Great upgrade to Mario Maker 1.

The addition of 3D world to the game seems like a bit of a cheap addition, and I don't know that I like it as much as the other themes, but the additions that have been made across the board for all the standard themes make sure levels stay fresh and are lots of fun. Story mode is okay, but mostly there to teach you to make your own.
