What a way to celebrate Mario's 30th anniversary! At first I thought I would exclusively play other users' creations rather than make my own, but now I realize that making your own levels is what makes the game a blast to play! I loved being able to make my own challenging levels and being able to play the hundreds of levels made by other people! If you have a Wii U, you owe it to yourself to buy this game. If you don't own a Wii U, then I would strongly recommend buying one just to play this game. It's that good.

Seeing the demo first off prior to its release made me fall in love and land a spot as one of its first 'pre-order'ees. Excellent creative value as well as bringing the nostalgia of all 30 years into one game was very well executed, and a great choice on Nintendo's part! A pure 'must have' for any collector, Nintendo fan, or Mario lover; this game brings that first time feel back to this old classic, in many more ways than one! Bravo, Nintendo...Well done!

What more can a Mario fan ever ask for than to create his own Mario World or shall I say "Worlds".. level after level after level of endless fun!! Nintendo has unleashed genius perfection of letting creativity to and from its myriads of fans. Absolutely love it!!!

This game is amazing if you like Mario and who doesn't? First of all you can create your own levels. If you only play 5 minutes a day it will take you 9 days to unlock all the different things to create your levels. This however was patched before release and can be sped up by creating levels (no one knows how many blocks need to be placed to speed it up but it does work over time) or you can just adjust your calendar to next day log back in until you unlock it all and then when done put it back to normal. You don't like to create things? Well that's ok too. This game has many levels built right into the game that are of different difficulties that were made by Nintendo. Not only that but people (including yourself) can upload your levels for others to play. This game is truly limitless and will never get old. It has infinite levels as they are created every single day by millions of people (that is my assumption not sure how many people own this game). If you do not own this game do yourself a favor and pick it up. Get it with gamers unlocked card for 47.99 plus tax. You will not regret it. On another note this works with all amiibo! You can place amiibo in ? mark boxes or bricks. They come out as a mushroom with a ? on it and turn Mario into its respected amiibo. You can get really create with this. Make Sonic levels, Zelda levels, Metroid levels with samus...AWESOME! TLDR: BUY THIS GAME!

Celebrating Mario's 30 year anniversary. This game has a lot of replay value. Jump online and see what other users have created. You won't be bored to see what you and other people can create. Its the best idea for a Mario game.

    Best of 2015

"Super Mario Maker is the best game of 2015!!!" Super Mario Maker was released on September 11, 2015. That day, it was the moment of truth to all Mario fans. They where waiting for a Mario game where you can create your very own levels. Is this game one of the best games ever made? Well, I bought it on release date and I can say if it is or not! *sigh* Where should I start? Super Mario Maker is the game where you can create your very own levels!!! When you play this game for the very first time, you'll play an unfinished course. If you jump on it OR wait to the staircaise for a while, EDIT TIME!!!!! You get to use several tools to complete it and after playing and finishing the level, you can do whatever you want with the tools you have! As you use these tools and create more levels, you'll get more tools in a few minutes later! Once you unlock all the tools, you can then use your ultimate imagination to create the best levels!!! Do you want to create a castle filled with Thwomps? Possible. Do you want to create para-versions of many different enemies? Possible. DO YOU WANT TO PUT MORE THAN 1 BOWSERS AND PUT THEM OUTSIDE THEIR CASTLE!? Possible!!! Just use your imagination and you'll be OK! You can stack up enemies (looking at you Goomba Tower), you can put different enemies into Warp Pipes and more! You can also choose 4 different styles: Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World and New Super Mario Bros. U. Each of them have their own physics and graphical style. Choose the one you want and create a level that suits it more than the others! Choose which style you want for you course to have: Ground, Underground, Underwater, Ghost House, Airship and Castle. All of them are usable in all styles. If you're playing in the Super Mario Bros. style, you can even choose the Mystery Mushroom to transform into any of the 99 characters you want! The Wierd Mushroom... I swear I haven't seen an item funnier than this in the Mario series!!! What does it do? It gives Mario Luigi's abilities; he jumps higher but he stops slower! It only appears in the Super Mario Bros. game style randomly in the place of a Super Mushroom. The Big Mushroom is a special item which makes Mario bigger and more powerful! It also gives enemies elements from Mario himself!!! Sooo funny to see a Goomba with Mario's mustache and hat!!!!! Next is the Course World. Here, you can play the 100 Mario Challenge, see others' courses or see other makers. When you play someone's course, make sure to star it if you like it! And don't forget to comment if you want to! In 100 Mario Challenge, there are 3 difficults: Easy, Normal and Expert, with the last one being unlocked by beating the Normal difficult at least once. Each time you beat a certain difficult, you'll unlock a random costume! However you unlock specific costumes on each difficult; you have to change difficult when you unlock them all on a certain difficult! The Easy Mode gives you extremely easy levels and you play up to 8 levels. The Normal Mode gives you levels that are a little bit difficult and you also need to complete 16 courses. The Expert Mode gives you levels that are a pain in the butt and you need to complete 16 courses. I swear Expert Mode is so freaking dreadful! Also you have 100 lives to beat these levels! You can earn up to 3 lives on each course, but you also get them ONLY when you complete the course! If you aren't connected to the internet, you can play the 10 Mario Challenge, which is basically the same as the 100 Mario Challenge, except this time you have 10 lives and you play Nintendo's very own courses! If you beat all the 10 Mario Challenge levels, you'll unlock 4 of the Nintendo World Championship levels! If you complete all 4 of them, you'll unlock a secret that I won't tell!

    Solid Mario Making Tool

Super Mario Maker is a very fun tool to use to make your very own Super Mario levels. The game is very easy to pick up and play and/or create. You start out with a base set of items to create with (blocks, goombas, koopas, etc) in the Super Mario Bros and New Super Mario style, and then if you play for at least five minutes a day you unlock more items and play styles to make. It takes about 9 days to unlock all of the timed material. The game also makes fun use of amiibos. Scanning your amiibo into the game unlocks a costume of the character that is playable only in the 8bit SMB style. You can also use some of the Animal Crossing amiibo cards (so far I've only used Digby). It is relatively easy to find random levels to play online, however, it is difficult to find your friends. First you have to find a level of theirs and then you can follow them. That process could have been a bit more streamlined. As you upload levels and people star them you gain more slots to upload levels to. However, you'll have to make the levels really good, or creative to get them noticed if you don't have an immediate audience. The game also includes premade levels made by people at Nintendo and other people from the game industry. These levels are played through the 10 Mario mode where you get ten lives to complete a set of levels. Once you beat all of the premade levels you unlock some wonderful goodies. There is also the 100 Mario mode where you have 100 lives to complete user made levels. There's a Beginners course with easier levels, an intermediate difficulty mode and then an Expert mode with very hard user levels. Completing this mode unlocks the amiibo costumes, so thankfully if you don't have all the amiibo or don't want them, you can still get their content.

Prepare to spend countless hours creating, tweaking, and testing all of the tools at your disposal in this wonderful level editor suite from Nintendo featuring the building blocks to create stages of your dreams (as long as they're not too complex) in Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros. U. Prepare to spend even more time unlocking the 100 Mystery Mushroom skins for use in SMB level creation by playing user created levels online in the 100 Mario Challenge. Unfortunately that's where this game's issues arise. As of right now there's too many bad levels clogging up the servers, and on easy.....the most efficient difficulty setting (8 stages per skin) to quickly unlock a certain number of skins before you reach your limit and have to move up to normal (16 stages per skin) it's the most problematic. There's the overly simplistic levels which are to be expected since younger players are uploading their creations. There's stages that have unavoidable death traps if you take a certain path or will start you right off in a sea of enemies. Or those where all you have to do is run, or not press a button at all and you're sent through the level in a virtual mouse trap of sorts (Remember Mouse Trap?) where springs and moving platforms bounce and guide you to the flag pole. And while those stages can be neat depending on how complex their designs are or how close to the time limit they can get you to the goal, no interaction just feels the exact opposite of what Mario should be. There are however plenty of filters and ranking options outside of 100 Mario Challenge where you can find the community's best offerings. There really is some fantastic and creative stages being uploaded, you just gotta sort through the lousy stuff to get to them sometimes. Fun game/tool overall though and defintely worth the purchase if you grew up with the Super Mario Bros. series

I’ll have to admit, I was not terribly excited about a major Nintendo release that was mainly about me doing all the work. Yuck! How wrong I was! Even if I never ever made even one level with this game, it would be a pretty magnificent purchase. The game play for this Mario title is literally endless as it gives you access to countless and endless levels from other creators. Again I was worried that the other levels would not be as much fun, but I was shocked to find out that I loved playing other people’s levels! Not to mention the fact that Nintendo themselves put out some levels on the game that you have never seen before. They are kind of like ten minute Mario Level puzzles from different eras in Mario gaming that you have never seen before. And all of them are a complete blast. Let’s talk about making levels. You will be surprised to see how easy it is to create the levels as well as how addicting it is. I would have not thought that myself, having done other level creators in other games. But, leave it to Nintendo to find a way to make even a level creator tutorial fun. Seriously you will be coming back each day eager to complete a new level tutorial just for fun (and to see what new level creator piece you have unlocked). Also, it should be noted that these levels you create are then put up on Nintendo’s site, and people get to rate how good your level is. Again, you will find yourself anxiously awaiting the days vote tally to see where your level ranks among the greats. And there are some greats! The greats that I am talking about are the user created levels that will simply knock your socks off with how much fun they are to play. They are just super creative ways to build a Mario level that you would have never thought of. They are kind of like masterpiece playable versions of really good fan art. All in all this is one of those great endless games from Nintendo that will be forever cherished as a little Nintendo gem, I believe, for generations to come. Way to go Nintendo!

This game is amazing. Not only does it hearken back to Mario's glory days on NES and SNES, but it does so in a fresh and imaginative way. Initially, I was timid about this game, thinking I wouldn't want to spend my time on creating levels. And I haven't; you don't have to. Rather, I just continually play the (seemingly) endless levels created by other people. Even without creating levels, this game is an essential part of the Mario cannon.

Let me start by saying the ability to play, create, share, rate, comment on, and save Mario levels is amazing. What would have made this game even better, however, is what is not included: namely: slopes, more enemies, taller levels, different colored pipes, more themes, left-scrolling levels, checkpoints, secret exits and keys... But again, this is an amazing game. Don't let what's missing keep you from enjoying it for what it is.

My kids and I are having a blast playing this. We have had a great time making boards and playing the boards others have made. There is a lot more to this game that it seems. I thought it would be a simple experience, but they really opened things up for experimentation. Surprisingly my 3 year old has been doing very well. He can finish the easiest boards others have created, and he has endless laughed making his own boards.

My two boys love this game and can easily play it for hours. There are so many different ways to create and many different themes to choose from. The only downside was having to wait to unlock everything. I wish there was an easier way to get all the items sooner out of the box. It's a little tedious and boring only having a limited amount to do for days while you wait for the rest to be unlocked.

Mario Maker itself is an excellent concept. Allowing us to create our own levels is a brilliant idea, and It makes the replay value of this game virtually infinite. Where it falls short is in the social aspect. In typical nintendo fashion, sharing levels is weirdly difficult, requiring you to input a 16 digit alpha-numeric code. Outside of that, my only other complaint would be the Nintendo featured levels tend to be automarios, where the level basically plays itself. Impressive as it may be, I don't really think they should be highlighted. Rather, they should reward people for making fair, Mario-like levels.

They live in Florida and they knew that someday "grandma" would fulfill their wishes. I took advantage of them visiting me so I took them to Best Buy and got them their game. Great game Nintendo! This is great game for someone creative, I must say, you have to be a little patient when you're making a level. You have to put a little time and love into a level to make it post worthy. They made level design super easy for anyone as well. Lastly, the amiibo support is a lot of fun to experiment with for themed levels.

When I was a child I would "design" Mario levels in a notebook. It's great to see technology's at a point where kids of today can do this and then actually play them. Love the game and was really fun to create levels and also play other's creations
