Deceptive claims and poor quality

Night vision looks good but in reality does not work well at all. System failed after first few months. Support is a nightmare to deal with. I do not recommend this product.

Take a look at reviews in the app store or play store, and see that this is not an uncommon issue. Support is not helpful, and it seems like they are not even working on improving the mobile access features. Especially for such a high price, you would expect better services. Save yourself some time and buy a Nest or a Lorex system!

Second rate company!

Second issue poor support by Swann to app fix issue after months of complaints by everyone shows quality you are getting! Stay away from this brand! Took back! Going back to Reolink Brand, better quality and service.

Piece of crap

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Three days of good use then nothing but disconnection notices and the equipment not authenticating and acting like it’s in sleep mode on the monitor and you have to pull the power to get it to come back up. Then trying to understand their customer service just frustrates you even more as they stumble through to tell you to reset the system and monitor the problem.

The recorder settings allow for adding in mask zones that help reduce the number of false triggers. More intense heat sources (e.g. vehicles) may detect a little further away and less intense heat sources (e.g. pets/small animals) may need to be a little closer before they are detected. The range/sensitivity of the motion sensor can be adjusted via the True Detect Motion Sensitivity settings bar in the app. If you have not already, please reach out to a member of our 24-hour support team and see how we can further assist. Great Equipment but Customer Support...?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a DIY'er with quite a bit of experience and tools. I still have yet to install the system, but have tested it out of the box due to the "15-day return" limit (which I totally understand). Here's my impression so far: After all of my research, I am super-happy to get the quality of cameras and intelligent analytics software for the price. However, I am not happy about the support from Swann so far. With all of the other pros and cons, I would suggest that most homeowners plan, buy, install and program the system using a professional alarm company. The system features get MANY 5-stars from me so far, but it earns overall 3-star due to my unhappiness regarding customer support. Pros: *Equipment* -- All of the equipment looks like it is in good working order. *Sirens and lighting* -- I am happy that all cameras have microphones, speakers and sirens. One is actually able to speak to people through the speakers. Haven't tested this feature yet. *Intelligent analytics* -- This truly appears to be a professional system, judging from the software. The most important features to me are the ability to exclude areas of the monitored areas from the motion alarm function (e.g. trees that tend to blow in the wind, pedestrians on the sidewalk, etc), setting lines that alarm if objects cross them, boxes that are definable for alarm when entered or exited, etc. Again, I am just getting started, so I'm a novice. If you want the actual FULL info. session, go to Swann and download the Platinum Digital HD Instruction Manual (this is for the NVR-8580). It will blow you away. *Infra-red motion sensing redundancy* -- This feature is supposed to dramatically reduce non-intended activations. If it works as marketed, I will be extremely happy with it. Cons: *Underlength cables* -- The ethernet cables are all 50' long, so plan on buying a few longer cables for a normally-sized, L-shaped house unless you will be staging your NVR near the center. *Monitor image* -- The display was too large for my TV screen at 1080p (i.e. the clickable options were outside of the visible screen area), so I reduced the reso to fit everything in. Now, much of the text is too small and very difficult to read. Luckily, my wife and I have been toying with a new TV for a while now; so, I bought a 43", 4K TV which will be arriving next week. I presume that it should work like a dream. *Anchor screws* -- One of the drawbacks of bullet cameras is the ease of being able to knock them off of their mounting surfaces. Mine are going to attach to wooden eaves. I will be buying beefier "security" mounting screws (i.e. not Phillips heads). I will probably have to enlarge the mounting holes. At the end of the day, a bad guy (or gal, of course) will probably knock the thing off with no problem...after he or she shows up in my overlapping camera image from another source. Of course, they will probably hit a house down the street, instead :-) *Concealment* -- If you place it next to your TV, you will have all you need in the box. Also, there is a Dropbox feature for immediate upload of images. This is good for situations where a professional comes in and destroys or takes the NVR. I am going to conceal mine, so I am having to run longer LAN, power, cables and buy a wireless mouse (with a USB extension cable for the mouse antenna). Just be prepared to buy custom equipment (mainly cables and a wireless mouse with a remote antenna) for a concealed location. *Instruction manual* -- It is only available online, and is 111 pages. This should really be included in the box, especially due to the software component. When it comes to the phone company not printing the white and yellow pages anymore, I get it. This, however, is a product with a cost of over $1,000. Spend the $3 for the manual, Swann. *Mouse-only interface* -- Most of the software functions only require a "click" but, boy, am I tired of typing my password with the mouse. Also, renaming all of the cameras (e.g. "Front Entry") will be tedious. There will be people who want to connect a wireless keyboard, at least for initial programming. It sure would be nice. *Live support* -- They have a good support/community site where customers can discuss issues such as compatibility with wireless mice. However, I found five discussion threads concerning an error code saying that the IPC's were not supported for intelligent analytics that the system is clearly supposed to include. There is a chat feature in the page, but I was waiting in the chat queue for 1/2 hour with no response. I decided to call them, but couldn't find a telephone number. Now, I get it that they don't want to be flooded with over-their-heads homeowners who want information on a project that they shouldn't even be tackling; however, they need to be super-attentive to valid contacts for help. By the way, I noticed that brand support from Swann is good at responding to these reviews...so would you please answer those five people in the community forum who are looking for an answer to that question: "'Connected IPC does not support Intelligent Analytics"' - I have NVR-8580"? Thanks.
