Swann wired surveillance system

I had Geek Squad come out and they said they couldn't install it because of the narrow attic/small peak of my house and they don't crawl in narrow places. And because I bought it so long ago, I am unable to return it. It's on Letgo and Marketplace if anyone is interested in buying it. New in box, unopened.

Ouch Swann

With only 4 of 8 cameras installed I'm only getting 2-3 weeks recordering on motion active. The phone app sucks big time never works. Computer app sucks too but somewhat works.

Average camera with some technical problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently upgraded my 10-year-old analog camera system with the Swann PRO SERIES HD 8-Channel system. This really is a plug-and-play system, so the only difficulty was running the wire, which I already had mapped out from my previous system. The HD quality was a tremendous upgrade from what I had, although that's not saying much considering I had 10-year-old cameras. Spending less than $400 for 8 cameras and a DVR system equates to less than $50 per camera, and the quality is about what you'd expect for that price. While the video is clear on the TV/computer/tablet, don't expect much viewing/editing potential without sacrificing clarity. The day after I purchased this system, the price dropped $70, which Best Buy refunded to me, which has helped ease my frustration with the DVR system. Although I've been able to retrieve video from the DVR, it's not the easiest process to select from time-line view in order to retrieve specific times of video. My biggest complaint with the DVR is it slowly loses time (which further complicates my retrieval of video). The DVR loses about four hours a day. I've received numerous suggestions from Swann, to include taking the unit apart and replacing the internal battery, which I did without success. I also found the DVR fills up in about four days, and although I had it set to overwrite the old video, the DVR stopped recording until I noticed it. I've since changed the setting to reformat after three days, because it will be filled up by the 7-day option, which really isn't ideal. If not for the trouble of having to take down all the cameras (to include wiring), I'd consider returning this system and explore the Lorex system. It doesn't appear others have had these problems, so I would recommend this to a friend on the condition they understand they're getting an extremely reasonable priced system that covers the basics.

Excellent Security System

I installed 8 cameras and found product was relatively easy to install in my house routing wires through attic to exterior and interior . I routed Ethernet and HDMI cable from System to my Audio/Video System and adding a HDMI split er enabling me to have a dedicated Monitor to view all the time as well as ability to see on my larger TV when desired. Camera view night and day is excellent. System works great, but I have to say , if you have GMAIL you have to change your Google Security settings to allow Swann Security device to send email to you when system alerts you of movement , other then that system works great , viewing is awesome, Emil notification works as intended

DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!

Swann states that they have 24/7 tech support, but it took 3 days to get through and talk to tech support. After almost an hour long call they agreed my dvr was bad. They want a credit card on file to send replacement parts and ensure you'll return the old parts and would only take 3 days for the replacement to show up. On the 3rd day I never revived the replacement part or a confirmation email so I called back and was told no record of my call gave them names and times of the people I talked to but still no record. Its been over a week and no replacement dvr. Swann customer service sucks

At this point choose another camera

Everything was going great up till this past Sunday. I checked my cameras on the app and seen that I was having a problem with camera 6. The bottom 1/3rd of the picture was at the top of the screen so I went to the monitor and it said video loss. Contacted customer support was told to switch cameras and see what happens so I had to take 2 cameras down and switch them. The problem went away for 2 days now I'm having the same problem only worse. Channels 4 through 8 has blurred lines and channels 6 is doing the same thing again. Contacting best buys geek squad today. Will update later

All Junk Within 3 Years

Entire system will not record anything. Two cameras keep blacking out regularly. Fails to communicate with our computer or smart phones past two weeks. Have serviced and all works for only two weeks and goes back to junk. Stay away from this brand. Website says they are working on updates for the entire year of 2019 and ask for patients. LOL - not worth the box it came in :-(
