Nintendo Switch 2 is a Success

Having used the system for the past few weeks, I have really enjoyed my time with it. The updated Joy-Con controllers are much better, the larger screen size is fantastic, and the upgraded games from the previous Switch feel so much better to play. With Mario Kart already out and Donkey Kong + more on the way, it would be a no-brainer to pick this up.

It’s a surreal feeling when you get used to the Switch 2 and then go back to the original Switch—you instantly realize just how massive the generational leap is. The first model suddenly feels like a toy in comparison. The larger, brighter, and more vibrant display, paired with the improved performance of the Switch 2, makes the gaming experience feel extraordinary. Playing on it reignites a childlike joy in me, and I find myself genuinely having fun every time I pick it up. I’ve been using both handheld and docked modes far more than I ever did before, and both deliver an excellent experience. Whether you’re casually enjoying lighthearted games or immersing yourself in the beauty of titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, I can’t recommend this console enough. Mario Kart World is such a thrilling game as well :)

It was as good as I expected. I have the one that came out in 2020 so it was definitely an upgrade. The screen is very nice as well as when its docked. I just wish the battery was a lil better, but I'm sure nintendo's gonna release a better version in the future.

The Switch 2 is next level. The shame the switch has carried in the past can be crushed by this new console. The graphics are incredible, games that seemed unplayable on a switch 1 or switch lite are smooth and lack any sort of lag the previous gens have struggled keeping up with. The games are outstanding, and as more get released and upgrade packs become available to give your old games a new life, the potential the console has to offer in the future can excite you with reason now. I love the switch 2. Best purchase of 2025!

Switch 2 is a major upgrade over its predecessor the Nintendo Switch. The system itself is much larger and runs much smoother. Games are faster so the experience is much better.

Right out of the box, the feel of the Switch 2 is just a net positive experience, no more cheap plastic feeling joycons or back of the screen, it feels much more durable and less like a toy. Personally I had to transfer all my data from my Switch 1, and it was a super simple experience that I feel even a small child could do it. Install speed of games? Also much faster than they were previously, Mario Kart World took me maybe 35-40 minutes to download on a 500mb connection, and the actual install was probably close to around 5 minutes for me. Not gonna lie, the dock feels a bit of a let down though. The back cover of it is no longer on a swing, it now just pops on and off and if you lose it, well it might as well be gone forever. It doesn't really keep the Switch 2 cool either, it's vents are more or less to keep the dock itself at a decent temp. Ethernet port on the back is a nice touch though. Game performance is quite the improvement all around. Every game I've tested personally loaded faster, and in the case of the free upgrade to Gen 9 Pokemon games, the improvements are like night and day and I don't think I can ever go back to playing those on my Switch 1. I'm looking forward to the Switch 2 Edition of the new Legends game later this year while also feeling bad for anyone who has yet to get their hands on a Switch 2 and won't be able to experience the resolution, loading, and fps upgrades. Games that didn't receive an update though? They're kinda struggling if I'm being honest. I tried playing Legends Arceus, and while the load time is better for sure, the fps remains locked at 30 and it's resolution looks like it's getting stretched and makes it actually look worse than the Switch 1, same goes for Sword and Shield. Mario Kart World. Boy oh boy, this was the one I was hyped for. While everyone was complaining saying it looked empty or that the tracks were uninspired, I was excited. It's my first Mario Kart since Double Dash on the Gamecube and I started back on Mario Kart 64, so all these new features, graphics and mechanics are amazing to me, so it makes me so happy that I got the bundle that included the game. Some quick pros and cons though to wrap this up. Pros: -Faster EShop -More responsive UI -DLSS putting in a lot of work -HDR -120fps in some games -Mouse Controls on shooters -Welcome Tour giving insane amounts of info on the inner workings of the console -Magnetic Joycons feel so satisfying to snap back onto it -The kickstand on the back is a massive upgrade from the Switch 1, durable, sturdy, and can go further back Cons: -Some older games look terrible without resolution updates -Any data transferred that wasn't a cloud save is deleted from the Switch 1 -Some people are complaining about stick drift on the joycons, no issue for me yet -Some reports of scratches or dead pixels right out of the box, no issue for me yet -Welcome Tour not being free despite it containing a lot of info on the console that users would like to know -Picks up dust kinda easily even if used a lot -Random spots on the dock that make it look like someone wiped a hand on it that just won't come off for some reason -Different color options for joycons not readily available at launch

The Nintendo Switch 2 is a great improvement overall. The screen is noticeably larger and has great quality, and the build materials — including the Joy-Cons — feel solid and premium. However, I was a bit disappointed that it didn’t come with a physical game, and the battery life could definitely be better. Even with those issues, I still recommend it 100%. It’s a fantastic console with a lot of potential.

The Switch 2 is so cool. As someone who used their original Switch daily for years, this feels like a big upgrade that gets me even more excited to play Nintendo Switch. I love the screen. It looks beautiful. The mouse mode is fun, if a little unessential at the moment. Everything feels very high quality. The bigger Joycon are better. The battery can last me for a few hours, so that's good enough for me. So far I haven't run into storage issues. But I don't have a million games like some people. I do have a decent number though. Speaking of games, Mario Kart World is great! I know people are complaining the world is empty, but it's really not to me. I love the p switch challenges. I love hunting the open world looking for them. The tricks you can do are so cool. It feels like a 3D platformer Kart racer and that's so unique. Absolutely worth getting the bundle.

I’ve been gaming with my Nintendo switch 2 for almost two weeks now and while initially I wasn’t super thrilled to get my hands on it, it’s kind of grown on me over the past couple of days. I’ll start by saying I’m kind of a sucker for all things Nintendo. I’ve owned just about every console they’ve released. Including most recently the Switch 1, switch lite and switch OLED. So it’s hard for me not to compare it to the previous consoles. But I’m being honest because chances are.. if you’re looking to buy the switch 2, you probably already own one of the previous Switch consoles. I’ll start with the things I like about it. This new console does feel quicker. Especially when loading menus and games. I justified my purchase by telling myself I would play the huge backlog of Switch games that I own and this was the biggest reason for me buying this console. I still enjoy playing Nintendo games on the go, and the old console was showing its age. So “upgrading” to this console was an easy decision for me. The joycons feel better in the hand while in handheld mode. They are larger, the triggers are more comfortable and it overall feels better in my hand. The magnetic system for attaching the joycons is way easier to use and less prone to getting stuck and breaking. My gripes with this console are the battery life. I get at most maybe 3 hours out of it before I need to plug it into the wall outlet. Not a huge deal since I don’t game handheld for more than an hour at a time. But still, I imagine the battery will degrade quicker in the long run because you will constantly need to charge this. The screen : although it is larger and looks nice, it is noticeably worse in some aspects (to my eyes) compared to the switch OLED. This screen has worse contrast and color saturation. And there is the obvious IPS glow when looking at it in black screens and from side angles. Another thing I’ve noticed is that is ghosting, once you notice it.. it’s hard to unsee it. It’s not a huge dealbreaker.. but I feel like at this price.. Nintendo should’ve put a better screen in it. One other con is that there isn’t many games out for it YET.. and majority of the third party games so far are just “key card cartridges” meaning that you will have to download the game onto your micro SD card. And the new micro SD cards are really expensive. I think this will ultimately hurt the long term health of the switch 2 unless Nintendo forces developers to keep games on the cartridge. A 1TB micro sd express card costs $200, if you can find one. They are super hard to find and expensive. I settled for a 256gb micro sd express card which cost me $70. Expensive in my opinion, and it will probably only hold a handful of switch 2 games. For now, there is no external SSD support when docked or in handheld mode, so expect to pay a hefty amount to expand your consoles storage. All in all… I like it. Could it be better? Definitely. Would I recommend it? Hard to say. Yes and no. If you love Nintendo games and gotta have the newest from them you’ll be like me and get it anyway. But I’d advise most people to just wait a little while longer until there is more games for the switch 2, and alternative storage options.

Console is overall great. Battery life off the dock is barely 2 hours biggest disappointment. The LCD screen surprised me honestly didn’t think it would be that great but exceeded my expectations. If you plan on keeping it docked and playing on monitor / tv I think it’s great but if you’re mobile then get used to being near a charger.

Worth the upgrade, great system, love playing older games in 1080p and HDR 4k, been waiting a while on a 4k nintendo, love the new magnetic controllers, worth grabbing if u can find one, if u see one in stock grab it, before its gone again, id also keep your old switch, as it has added benefits, like game share from switch 2 to switch 1, plus more, great system could have been better with haptic feed back controllera and oled screen, but still great picture overall and great controllers with mouse support, anyway i definitely reccomend the switch 2, both are great, but this is a nice upgrade, i passed on the oled switch to get this, worth it.

The Switch 2 Mario Kart Bundle delivers both a polished system upgrade and one of the franchise’s more ambitious titles in years. Mario Kart World excels in gameplay, visuals, and innovation—though some may find the Free Roam underwhelming and wish for wholly new tracks. That said, the bundle price of $499.99 gives excellent value: you’re getting a 4K-capable dock, mouse‑control Joy‑Cons, much more storage, and next‑gen social features—all launched with a fun and tightly built racing game. If you’re looking for something to dive into right away, especially with friends or family, this bundle hits the mark. Cons: battery life can dip quickly under heavy usage; recycled track list; Free Roam features feel sparse. Pros: stunning visuals, superb performance, inventive Joy‑Con controls, excellent bundled game, robust features like GameChat/GameShare. In short: a strong package for fans, newcomers, and anyone upgrading from the original Switch. A meaningful evolution—just don’t expect cutting‑edge hardware; expect great fun instead.

Brings the new and enhances the old. Very happy and impressed. As a seasoned gamer at 41 years old, Nintendo has a special place in the heart of my generation. Like many folk, I have a gaming PC as well as many other devices. This little guy just brings joy. The screen is large and brilliantly vibrant. Sound is on point. Controllers actually fit grown hands and not just small children. Device does require an SD Express card to properly expand storage. Our traditional SD cards will work, but only for saved games, pictures, and video clips that nobodys cares about. If you do care about that sort of thing, well… yeah. It does have 256gb of built-in storage. Thats a very welcome addition. Traditional switch gamecard slot is still present, but we all know that its no longer optimal. Digital format is convenient and optimal today. Dock does have active cooling as I understand, but I do not seem to notice or even see air slots/vents. Overall, im quite happy and would purchase a second if I could find one. Multiplayer is more fun on separate screens after all :) Nab one. No reason not to. Even the haters online want one and are looking for one! No point in waiting or wandering the reviews vicariously. Nab one when the chamce comes, and maybe we will see each other on GameChat!

The Nintendo Switch 2 is a lovely piece of hardware to run all the Nintendo games you like, just better. The change from sliders to a magnetic connection of the joycons is nice to use. Many of the additional features are interesting, but not captivating enough to be worth it. An integrated ethernet port as well as the additional usb type-c port on the console are extremely nice to have. Overall a good improvement to the original Nintendo Switch. Is it worth the price? Depends on how much you want improved performance!

Major upgrade from the original switch. With the larger screen, larger joycons, and improved hardware, this is what gaming on the switch was meant to be. A bit pricey (close to a ps5 in price) which is why I give it 4 stars. But I love Nintendo and I’m sure down the line with a new Mario and Zelda exclusively for the switch 2, this console will be 100% worth it. For those who can wait I recommend waiting for more games. For those who are die hard Nintendo fans it’s a no brainer. Nintendo FTW

As an owner of all the Nintendo Switch systems, this console blew all my expectations out of the water. It runs games that feel like they were made for the next generation, including Mario Kart World bundled with it. If you’re on the fence about it, I’d say personally, even as someone casually enjoying it, the quality of previous Nintendo Switch consoles is improved upon ten fold with the Nintendo Switch 2. I couldn’t imagine running many heavy hitters like Donkey Kong Bananza on those systems; well worth the investment.

Honestly, I didn't have any expectations other than to enjoy a classic game. Sure, most people are always going to make comparisons about all the previous game versions prior to MKW, but it is very fun. As a person who grew up with the original gaming systems from the regular nintendo console, this is definitely an upgrade. As far as price, I'm not going to go into it as that is a different subject matter, however, I was able to score a bundle when the pre-orders were finally live. I didn't think I'd get my hands on one, but I did and it was worth the waiting game. This is a console that I can definitely say that my family and I will share as the expansion opportunities for certain games, like Jamboree, for example. I hadn't upgraded from my original switch since i first bought it. I'm glad I was able to transfer my downloaded games onto the NS2. This is something I look forward to using with family and friends, especially on gaming nights.
