Wanted to be able to control all cameras with 1 unit rather than 2. This achieved that, but with some issues. On the XR (extended range) mode, I've had some connectivity issues with some cameras, even though the camera is in line of sight within 50 feet of the module. Restarting/cycling power seems to work, but a hassle to do.

Worked great so far. You do have to make sure that nothing is in the way or it will lag the connection. Overall it’s doing what is supposed to.

It didn't work for me and I had to re-install doorbell system again and was not connecting and had to do it multiple times to uninstall the module and go back to my original settings.

This upgraded blink module seems to add some range and predicted connect-ability after all. I like that you can store your videos directly to the module now having an SD slot is pretty great. It’s only slightly bigger than the last version, but this version has a very welcome USB-C Connection. It will, however no longer fit in my aftermarket all in one plug in the wall solution, but I’ll give them a few weeks to come up with a new design set up was very easy and is exactly the same as setting up the previous version you do have to forget all your cameras and reinstall them each one by one, but for the dependable connection and included range in this next-gen base station, I found the inconvenience to be very much worth it. Build quality also seems a lot sturdier and harder than the last generation and I’ve always appreciated how you don’t need to connect it directly to your router like so many cameras out there. This allows for multiple use cases like even setting one up in your car or boat if you wanted to provided you have the hotspot or router and that is what sets Blink apart.

This new Blink sync module allows the 4th generation of the Blink XT outdoor cameras to be placed further away from it than the previous versions of the sync module. My older cameras are also compatible, but the Blink app knows which cameras can opt into the XR range and which can't--but they all can connect to this new one anyway, just at normal range. There is only a small instruction booklet that comes in the box, the setup just takes a few minutes and was very easy. Provided is an AC adapter and USB-C cable like comes with many devices, I am using it since I have no idea whether the wattage/amperage is unique to it or not. There are two tiny lights on the module to indicate a current wifi connection and the power on. Very simple. I have a grandfathered free Blink account but adding this module starts a free trial of all the perks offered with the Blink Plus Plan. The push notifications indicate whether what the camera sees is a person or vehicle etc. which I think is a feature of the Plus plan. The phone app has new features, not sure if it is due to the trial of the Plus plan or not. In any case this module works great and is very easy to set up and connect cameras to.

I have had the Blink ecosystem for years, so I familiar with the overall product line. I previously have had a couple Blink indoor cams, a couple Blink outdoor cams, and a couple Blink doorbells, and a Blink Sync (not th-s new XR) module. I recently added two Blink Outdoor 4 cameras. I placed one in our pool area and one n the far corner of my yard. I [referr to keep as much of my tech as I can in my "server room" (AKA, my office), but with the new Blink Outdoor4 cams, I placed them on the far oppisite end of where my "server room" was. They were too far away to communicate with my legacy Sync module, so I had to move that module into my wifes office, as it was much closer to the Blink Outdoor 4. I know, not the end of the world, but not having all of my tech in my server room was not optimal for me. When the offer came through to get the Sync XR Module, I jumped on it. After getting the XR module, setup was simple. I set ti up in my techie server room/office and it had no problem reaching the Outdoor 4 camera's. Thanks to the Sync XR, my ADHD has been tempered! I am specifically NOT getting into noting any of the tech spec's, because you can get them from Best Buy or Blinks sites, and also from many of the other great reviewers on here, but I will point out that this odes offer the option for up to a 256 GB MicroSD card. This affords you the option to store and view your video locally, saving you a monthly or annual subscription to the cloud. I personally prefer that option. End of the day, if you have the need, this is an excellent choice.

I already had a small Blink security system for my backyard consisting of an earlier Sync Module and the battery powered Outdoor-4 Floodlight with a battery powered camera attached. This system was installed via the Blink app on my Android phone. I wanted to add a second Sync module with the Blink wired-power floodlight/camera into my existing system to be positioned on the front of my garage. It turned out that the installation of the second Sync module which was the more powerful XR model into my existing system was as simple as my first installation; just use the Blink app and follow the steps. I wanted the second system to be separated from the first so that the first backyard system could use the onboard Sync module storage and my new system could monitor the front of the house and utilize Blink’s ‘Cloud Storage’ option; the app permitted me to keep the two systems separate although under the same app. I could have used the SD card slot to maintain local storage, however I wanted a more independent record of deliveries and other motion detected in front of the house. Blink does offer additional cameras to be purchased separately that I expect to add to my front yard system; which can be configured to my second Sync Module. My newer Sync XR module has many enhancements including a longer range than the prior module and the new module can control up to 10 devices. The Sync XR also has an SD card slot instead of the previous version's USB port; which is a nice upgrade if you opt for local storage so you have no monthly cost. I did like that the Sync XR was packaged very well and the power adapter to plug in, plus the USB power cable were included – nice job Blink people. My experience is that the Blink products connect very easily to your home WiFi. Also let’s say if you have a power outage, when power is restored the Blink devices all come up ‘automagically’ and reconnect on their own. This is a situation I tested, and Blink products worked great. I would highly recommend this well-made and very functional Blink Sync XR Module.

When I first installed a blink system at my house years ago, I did have some challenges finding the perfect location for the sync module because its range was not very good. (I was able to figure it out, but it took a little creativity on my part.) As the system has evolved over time, however, some of these distance concerns have been addressed and the XR line of equipment, including this sync module, apparently addresses it. To begin, the installation was very simple. I was a little concerned that I would experience challenges given that I already had a blink system (and a sync module) installed. That was not the case. Just scan the QR code on the device in the blink app, follow the directions, and that was all there was to it. The replacement of the old sync module and installation of this one took only a minute or two. Very simple and easy. The unit does have a micro SD card slot that allows for local backup of clips. Personally, I am not sure how useful or beneficial that is, at least for my personal home use. From what I could tell, those recordings can be downloaded only for XR cameras and, if I understand correctly, it looks like only two XR cameras can be paired with this single sync module. Along those lines, the additional range when paired with XR cameras is of limited value if you need more than two cameras. My system has six cameras total, only two of which are "XR" cameras, so I fell within these constraints. If I were to purchase multiple XR cameras, however, I have no idea how that is accommodated. Would I need another sync module (in addition to this one)? Can all the cameras be used with this sync module, but I am limited to extended range with only two of them? That may be something to research and it is the reason why this sync module did not earn a 5-star rating. Thus far, the blink system has been plug-and-play, for the most part. Constraints such as the number of XR cameras that can be used with the XR sync module (when additional non-XR devices can still be used) creates confusion and does reduce the utility of the device. Still, if you have a smaller system or only need/have two XR cameras, going with this sync module (as opposed to a different or older version) definitely makes sense.

The Sync module XR is a great addition to the outdoor cam 4. The house I have these installed in is a very large house with a lot of property. It allows me to place outdoor cameras much further away from module due to its extended range. The blink module only needs to be powered and within wifi range so it does not have to be in the same space as your router. The other feature that I like about the module XR is the ability to add an SD card for storage. The only downside is that it only allows for a 256gb SD card but as long as the cameras are not in a high traffic area this should not be an issue. I am currently in my 30 day trial window for the cloud service but my understanding is that you can store footage locally without cloud service. This was one of the main reasons I wanted this module for my camera. This is a great option for anyone who wants to place there cameras far away and still have connectivity. For example, placing them on a storage shed or detached garage. The cameras can be 250-400 ft away from the module depending on which mode you are in. As long as my assumption above turns out to be true, this is also a great option for someone who does not want to use cloud service and would rather their footage be stored locally.

This is the perfect device if your Outdoor 4 Cameras and Floodlight are spread over opposite ends of the house like mine are. I was having some slow connection issues and laggy app experience using the baseline Sync Module and this extended range module solved those problems. Now I have a much clearer experience from my cameras on all sides of the house. I also like that it swaps the flash drive port for a microSD. I have more of those laying around my house than I do flash drives. Setting this up was super easy. I had to disconnect my primary sync module first as this extended range model replaces it instead of supplementing it. This is also significantly more aesthetic than the other one with it's smooth white surface and rounded edges. It's pretty much just plug and play. The lights clearly indicate that the unit is powered on and the WiFi is connected so you can tell at a glance passing by that it is operating correctly. I also noticed a faster experience connecting via cellular data on my phone when I'm away from the house instead of on WiFi so that's a big win.
