Disappointed ☹️
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to return it. I called Tablo several times and it would never connect to WiFi. I have Google Mesh System and the last guy said it doesn’t work with a Mesh System which was ridiculous. I think he was too lazy to help. Very disappointed.

Takes a long time to connect.
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had this connected to a Roku Stick and it sometimes took 3-4-5 minutes to connect. So I purchased an HD Homerun unit with a Roku Ultra and they work perfectly together. Connection time is always under 5 seconds.

If your husband checks out our Community forum, he should find our early access program for our Apple TV app.

Great concept, but lots of bugs & stability issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Im running the Tablo app on google chomecast. Ive had the Tablo about one month. Super easy set up. Love the idea of being able watch and record local over the air channels on an app. But there ate a lot of bugs and instability issues. (1) watching live tv, there are occassional buffering problems and jumpy video. (2) watching a recorded show while itnis still recording, picture often freezes while audio continues. Need to shutdown the app and try again, but poctire freezes again eithin minutes. This is unusable. (3) watching a recorded show that has completed being recorded- this generally works well. If these issues continue, im likely going to run thr OTA feed via coax directly to the tv, and give up DVR capailibty.

Solid device, apps depend on your devices
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We dropped cable TV within the last month after testing the waters with antennas on the TVs my wife and I watch the most. We both wanted a way that we could record late night shows and watch sports (mainly NFL) without needing to pay for each individual streaming service, as that defeats the whole purpose of dropping traditional cable TV. After looking into several different platforms, we decided to give the Tablo device a try as it seemed to be both the most user-friendly platform. I feel that we made the right choice. Setup - the hardware setup was incredibly straight-forward for us. We set the Tablo device up near our cable modem and router so it could have an easy direct connection to an Ethernet port; while WiFi is also a good option, this makes for a much more stable connection with as many devices we have on our network. Once connected, it was a matter of installing the Tablo app on a phone, setting up an account with them, and scanning channels. Keep in mind that you'll need to do some research into how to get the best signal for your Tablo device (or any network tuner for that matter). We're using an Antop Big Boy series antenna rated for up to 65 miles of range without an amplifier and we're able to receive all of our local channels flawlessly, along with a few from outside of our TV market. One thing you'll find is Tablo also includes a host of internet-based free TV stations that include movies, sports, news, special interest/lifestyle, kids, and foreign language programming. Just like with your regular over-the-air channels, you'll find that you can pause and record these channels as well. Also keep in mind the Tablo device only works with ATSC 1.0 standard broadcasts. Because of limits many broadcasters have placed on the new ATSC 3.0 standard with digital rights management, there are no network TV tuners that can record ATSC 3.0 broadcasts, just 1.0 broadcasts. Usage - while the apps do vary between smartphone, tablet, and smart TV platforms, the basic operation is pretty similar. The Home screen gives you a quick overview of what's on for your available channels. The Live screen is a channel guide that's not unlike what you'd find with a cable box, satellite box, or streaming app. Shows, Movies, News, and Sports are all there to help you find the content you want, as is the Search function. Settings allows you to fine-tune the guide, how recordings are handled, and run channel scans. Then 4 tuner Tablo is perfect for both households where you want to record multiple network shows at one time (for instance, all three late-night shows). One must-have for the Tablo is an external hard drive. You can use any hard drive up to 8 TB, but I've found that with recording a few shows during prime and several late night shows that a 500 GB drive more than suffices. Mechanical hard drives work every bit as well as SSDs in this case, so save yourself some money and get a mechanical drive rather than a SSD as you'll see zero performance difference; also, make sure you get a hard drive in a metal case so you don't have to worry about overheating. Drawback - the biggest drawback is setting up for using an antenna. The biggest thing is making sure you pick the right antenna. Bigger is usually better and being able to mount the antenna outside or in an attic helps achieve better signal reception, but prepare to run cabling and ground properly with these setups. As for the apps: Apple iPhone/iPad - smooth interface, very stable performance, loads fast and starts viewing faster than its Android counterpart. Provides AirPlay output that works with 3rd gen or newer Apple TV devices, Roku TVs and devices, and other TVs with integrated AirPlay support. Android/Chromebook - still relatively fast, stable on devices with more than 4GB of RAM. Works better with newer versions of Android OS. I did not see an option to Chromecast, but screen mirroring allows for output to an external device. I'm sure that the Fire tablet version of this app mirrors this experience. Apple TV - loads incredibly fast using an Apple TV 4k(A10X generation). Because video is output at the device's native resolution and not the resolution of the content, you'll notice interlacing on any 1080p or 4k TV set. Google TV - app is nearly as fast as on Apple TV using two different Hisense TVs (H8G, U8K) and different streaming boxes (Onn Google TV Pro, Onn Google TV 4k, Google Chromecast with Google TV). Interface stays stable. Apps running internally on TVs allow for some deinterlacing but external boxes do not as they output upscaled video. Roku - app is much slower than Apple TV or Google TV, using both TVs and Roku devices. Changing settings - especially channel management - feels slow and clunky. There are no native apps for Mac and Windows that work with this version of the device. So for the hardware, I gotta give the folks at Nuvyyo 5 stars because the device is near perfection. I really hope they can bring a ATSC 3 version at some point. For the software, I'm more apt to recommend this to people using Apple or Google as their smart TV interface. I'm not impressed by the Roku app at all, as it's very clunky in comparison. The apps for iOS and Android are both solid, but I have to give the edge to iPhone because it just works better and AirPlay is supported where Chromecast on the Android version is not. I didn't get to test apps for other smart TV platforms, but given the relative app parity between Google TV, Fire TV, Samsung Tizen, and LG webOS apps, I'm sure that Amazon, LG, and Samsung users will also have a good experience with their apps.

Software not quite there yet.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice OTA DVR. Easy setup. Really needs large antenna to enjoy the many channels now available ota. Unit runs very warm to the touch; could benefit from some form of cooling fan. Software is rough, still abends unexpectedly. I'm a long time TIVO user. No comparison, TIVO user app is so much more refined and feature rich. Tablo has a long way to go on that! Overall currently it's the best alternative to TIVO.

On the fence...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm still on the fence.. sometimes it does pull up quick and other times I may miss 3 to 5 minutes of the news waiting for buffering and my wifi is excellent...it will be a while before I recommend it...

Posted .Sorry you're running into that.
It may be a good idea to connect your Tablo via Ethernet if possible. That would ensure that Wi-Fi interference isn't slowing down your Tablo streaming video to the devices on your network.

Not blown away but “good enough”
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a discontinued Amazon Recast system that has been gettinng worse over the years. I decided to buy the Tablo TV DVR system. Overall it’s just okay. I cant use it with a Macintosh computer, can’t use it with a Windows 11 machine, can’t watch anything remotely outside of my LAN, and I don’t like that these limitations have been put on the system. I suspect this has a lit to do with a Scripps company buying this product line. It takes a little time when changing channels. It’s good enough to me so I won’t return it, but it’s certainly not a highly polished product or worthy of a 5-star review. Mediocre is how I would describe this.
