I bought this because another over the air DVR brand ruined their DVR when they introduced a new version. So, I found Tablo, 4th gen. Works good. It took me a few tries to find an external USB SSD / NVME drive that would work with the Tablo. Don't use USB sticks. Old USB spinner drives won't work either. That is one reason the review is 4 stars. The other reason is the DVR can be a tad buggy. Sometimes recordings won't delete, but they will the next time you open the Tablo app. Note that you must have internet connectivity to this Tablo 4th Gen. Other than that, it works good for me.

I love the Tablo. We went with Sling for news channels, but we lost our local channels. This Tablo allows us to watch all of our over the air channels on our TV (through Apple TV) and on our tables and phones (while on our home network). I highly recommend it! It is also nice to be able to record the over the air shows. This is a great way to get the local channels without having to pay for a higher price option like cable, DirectTV, or other streaming service.

This thing has potential, but needs a lot of work. It seems like they didn’t test enough because there are a lot of issues like freezing up, getting kicked out of a channel, some channels it does not let you view, and trying to rewind is futile because it is super slow and the. When you finally get to where you want, it puts you back live. It’s still better than paying $80-$90/month for YouTube tv and Hulu, but just barely. Unless they can work out the bugs on their end, I couldn’t recommend to anyone yet. Coukd be huge value if worked as advertised.

It is nice to be able to record TV without having to pay a subscription. 5 stars because it works. The APP can use some work, but it provides a decent set of features. Unfortunately, you can't stream to any device outside of your home and there is a slight delay when changing channels due to it being web based. Even with those drawbacks, it is worth the money.

This was fairly easy to setup and works well with the antenna. It would be nice to be able to delete the recordings easier. I really haven't had any problems with it.

This device was easy to set up, and it worked pretty much straight out of the box. I purchased a
Crucial - X6 SE 2TB External USB-C/USB-A Portable SSD - Black to go along with it, and that drive formatted quickly. The only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is really a Microsoft Windows 11 issue that has kept me from being able to get to my recordings on my PC. I'm sure I'll be able to get to them through an emulator, but that's pretty annoying.

I am pleased with the unit, and would buy it again. Some software issues. If you wait until a program has completely recorded, the rewind and ffwd work great. Not as easy to fast forward or rewind if program is recording. My other DVD that was seamless. Sometimes I go to Live TV and it finds no channels, Close and reopen and it works.

I like the Tablo - 4th Gen, 4-Tuner,128B Over-The-Air DVR & Streaming Player. I was unaware thatbit only worked on a 2.4 WIFI network. I was unable to use with my living room tv that has more than 2.4

Hi Tammy,
The 4th Generation Tablo should also work on 5 ghz networks. It may be worth a shot to connect it directly through ethernet to your router though, those connections are stabler.

Out of the box, easy, simple setup, app has more functionality for setting up than doing on screen. Loaded app on newer(ish) f-stick and a brand new roku, f-stick had terrible buffering of live tv, roku had fast response and worked as expected. Bought 2 more roku and recycled the f-stick, all working flawlessly for 4-5 days until Tablo app would not stay loaded, meaning it would launch, load up home screen then revert back to roku homescreen (on all 3 roku), followed all the troubleshooting steps on Tablo site to get it back up, bringing down network seemed to correct issue in first instance, but same issue happened twice more, decided to just reboot tablo device instead to get service back up and it worked, so i suspect my network is not the issue. Not a great experience after only having for 2 weeks and have had to reboot 3 times, will see maybe its something their working to resolve.
Guide is great, responds fast, easy to navigate and set up, but I like using app to search and set up recordings better, you'll see why if you use this feature.
Tablo is hardwired to the network switch as to eliminate common wifi issues. No other issues than the reboot, replaced a failing old CM-7600 which was King for many years.

The Tablo 4th gen has had a lot of teething problems in terms of app issues. In my experience those have been resolved, at least for the Roku app we use. It works as expected.
You can do things like set it to record every NFL game, and with 4 tuners it's able to resolve the conflicts. That is the main reason for 4 tuners, you need them when there will be multiple recordings at the same time. I recorded an entire season. Of course some games aren't going OTA anymore so you can't get every game.
I gave one to a person with a low-end Samsung TV. That was a little marginal. Cheap smart TVs have slow processors so the app was slow to respond. Better to use a Roku.
You need a GOOD wifi connection (or ethernet) for these to work properly. If you don't and you have connection problems or buffering that is on you. And of course you need an antenna that receives a decent signal.

I’m not overly impressed with this unit, it was rushed onto the market which had no need. It doesn’t work for AppleTv unless your a beta tester so that alone says this was rushed out. If I’d known this I wouldn’t have bought it as my primary TV is AppleTv 4k.
Pros has 4 Chanel DVR/has own hard drive/allows external hard drive
Cons NOT READY/no AppleTv app/has built in antenna amplifier (WHICH THEY DON’T MENTION!) where this MAY be helpful mostly does more harm/to expensive for a product being tossed to market to get bugs worked out
I can’t stress this enough Tablo you need to inform your product has a signal amplifier, my antenna set up pulls in 91 channels because my antenna set up has been properly engineered. Adding this dropped my scanned channels to 18. Took me HOURS to find out you foolishly put a signal amplifier in this and its default setting is ON. No warning prompts or anything. This needs to be corrected.
If not using AppleTv this may work well but at this time I can’t recommend buying this because it doesn’t work for EVERYONE only those who don’t use AppleTv.

Good idea, performance is not so good as it sometimes takes a while downloading channel updates or starting up, it is good enough if you want to drop cable subscription. Looking forward for more robust hardware version, in the meantime this is not bad at all, I enjoy the fact I get the mainstream channels like abc, fox, nbc, cnn and also bloomberg plus channels in spanish as well like Telemundo, Univision and some mor

I purchased my device a few months ago. Honesly with the exception of a few issues with the ROKU APP - which is my main system to watch - I have been fairly happy with system. Recently ROKU did an update and then Tablo did an update. All now is worrible. The issue is that tech support also is a bit slow to respond appropriately when it seems that they have a major issue. Anyuways if system work good I will give 5-starts but for now will give 3 just becasue was working good for several months until now. Maybe if I can I will come back and update review.

The idea is great. It works like it advertises. The only issue I have is with the recordings, it doesn't allow the user to watch from the beginning while it's still recording. The entire program or event must be completed, or you will have to watch it live.

A great surprise. Creates it's own channel list which was very helpful. The only issue is that some sporting events are a bit "jerky", and I had one issue with my Samsung TV "locking up". but still a great value for what it does!

This actually replaces a unit I bought five months ago. Took the defective unit back to Best Buy and they got me another, no hassle. The second unit works fine. I had added an external hard drive a few weeks before the original failed. The extra storage space is much appreciated. I'm liking the Tablo much better than my Amazon Recast box that failed after five years. Amazon acknowledged they had a problem, but never fixed it or kept me in the loop.
