I received the unit setup was straight forward and uneventful. One day my tablet started taking too long to load the Tablo home screen. I rebooted the unit. That seemed to fix the issue. A few days later i tried to sccess the Tablo and couldn't connect. Upon further examination I found that the unit was powered off. Nothing i did got the unit to power again. I returned the unit.

Replaced a Tivo. Easy setup. Gets a lot more stations with the same antenna. Works with multiple players but seems to work best with the Roku Ultra. Miss the auto skip on commercials but that's minor.

Fire Tv Recast Replacement. It’s worth it.

We loved our Fire TV Recast but Amazon support of the product is minimal since it’s been discontinued. And since it has become buggy, this was perfect replacement, easy to use easy to set up. I just wish it integrated into the fire TV as cleanly as the recast did instead of using an app.

Not reliable. Attempting to make adjustments to make it usable. Seems to work better after reducing antenna amplification. Recording seem better than watching live. However if issue occurs while recording, waste of time.
Considering returning. If can resolve issue soon will return, hence at this can not recommend.

I have owned a 1st Gen Tablo Quad tuner device for 5 or six years. It has worked great and I wanted to upgrade to this new 4th Gen unit because development has been halted on the old unit. I have had no issues with this new unit. I added an external hard drive so store the shows I wanted because I knew that the onboard storage would eventually not be enough. The guide works nice and the setup was very easy. I will recommend that you connect this device via ethernet if you can to your network or at least have a very strong wifi signal for it. I have it connected via ethernet and have had no issues watching my shows on any of my tvs (via roku devices) in my house.

Great when it works but it needs to be rebooted quite often.
The first one I bought died after one year but was covered under my BestBuy extended warranty. This replacement is slightly better but often needs a reboot because the app can't connect to it

I have had the two channel version of the Tablo Tuner/DVR for a couple of years, so when they came out with the 4 channel unit, I bought one immediately. The Tablo tuners are sensitive and work well as long as you have a decent antenna. The one I bought came with an antenna but I replaced it with an even bigger flat antenna for even more receiving area. I get about 30 over the air channels in my area which is central Texas and I’m about 50 miles from the transmitters to my southwest. In addition the Tablo will record most of the provided internet channels. A few don’t record, apparently because it isn’t allowed, but most do record and play well. So I have a 2TB flash drive attached to my Tablo and I can records lots of programs for later watching. The only thing you should consider is that recording the internet channels requires a pretty fast internet connection, so my 25MBps internet connection won’t record four internet channels at the same time. Maybe two, but not four. This isn’t the fault of the Tablo, just my internet speed. Overall I have found the Tablo is very useful. Recommended.

I have an antenna but I like the product because it lets me record whatever I stations I can get if I need to sometimes the reception doesn't come in really well but I realize that's probably the antenna placement chance to win a $400

I waited a while to do a review so it would be accurate. I have owned the Tablo DVR for over 1 year. Two important things is you need a good home network and a quality antenna. I have a mesh network which has great coverage in my house and I use a Televes outdoor antenna. With these two things, the Tablo is fantastic. It's fast and reliable. There are a few low powered channels that doesn't have guide data. This is primarily because lower powered channels don't have to share their data with Gracenote, the service Tablo uses for guide data. There are times when the device will develop bugs in its operation. For the most part, when updates to the app are released, many of the bugs are solved. It's not perfect, but it's getting better with time. Originally we used several different streaming devices. We had horrible results with Roku. In fact we stopped using Roku because of issues with Tablo and several other apps like Plex. My understanding from the Tablo forums is Roku operates much better than it did. I get a lot of channels where I live. I get over 100 channels after eliminating religious, infomercials, Spanish speaking, and duplicates. On top of that, Tablo continues to add FAST channels.

Once I added a signal booster this works great for the broadcast stations in our area. It occasionally shows some pixelation but not bad. My cable had more issues. setting recording is easy.

I'd had the previous gen Tablo for years and loved it. This new 4th Gen locks up all the time, and the tuner is not as good as our old one. Sorry I 'upgraded'.

Easy to setup. Very handy DVR with Tablo Guide for your over the air channels and Tablo streaming channels. Customer service is very responsive and helpful. You can watch any channel within your residence via your WiFi on your HDTV with Amazon FireTV or Android phone with the Tablo App, even different channels at the same time.

Bought this product thinking they improved it and in some ways they did. However it lost support for windows and Tablo connect. So if those features are important to you best skip this product. Very very disappointed would return if I hadn’t started using it.

This thing has potential, but needs a lot of work. It seems like they didn’t test enough because there are a lot of issues like freezing up, getting kicked out of a channel, some channels it does not let you view, and trying to rewind is futile because it is super slow and the. When you finally get to where you want, it puts you back live. It’s still better than paying $80-$90/month for YouTube tv and Hulu, but just barely. Unless they can work out the bugs on their end, I couldn’t recommend to anyone yet. Coukd be huge value if worked as advertised.
