Mixed Emotions
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have played many games in the Tales series and I was excited to try this one out after hearing that it's considered "one of the best," but my experience with it so far has been a mixed bag. I find the story and some of the characters just interesting enough to be compelled to keep playing, but the battle system is frustrating enough at times to make me consider selling it. The battle system is not as convoluted as some of the later entries in the series, but some battles, particularly boss battles can be infuriating. This game is not a button masher so you can't expect to just waltz into battle and bash everything into oblivion. It does take some strategy and quick reflexes to dodge/block enemy attacks as well as good timing to chain combos together. However, despite knowing this, there are still things that make me want to pull my hair out: 1. Your attacks miss semi-frequently even when you're using the control stick to aim your attacks. 2. Despite my efforts to roam around and strategically avoid enemy attacks, it feels like the character I'm controlling has a target on his head and most of the enemies seem to gang up on me and disrupt my attacks/combos. Blocking doesn't seem to do much when you're surrounded by multiple enemies because they will just tag-team your butt as soon as you stop blocking. 3. There are huge spikes in the difficulty level with many bosses. The only way I've been able to get past many of them is by setting the game to "easy" mode. 4. Some of the characters are really slow in battle. They move slow, their attacks are slow and they are slow to get up when knocked down. 5. Skills. You earn lots of skills and you have to equip your skills using your skill points in order to use them. The problem I have is that you earn very few skill points (at least early on) and there are many skills I'm not using because they require a lot of skill points, thus limiting my options to use other skills. It seems like this could have been balanced better. I wouldn't recommend this game unless you're a die-hard fan of the Tales games, you like a challenge, or you can get paste the things that have frustrated me.

Wasn't so fun so I remembered
