When I first got my A73, I was only planning on getting one lens to use as a carry around / travel camera. It's much smaller and more compact than my former Canon 5D3 If you are using a Sony E mount camera and want just one lens this should definitely be on your short list. Pluses: It's light, has great bokeh and while not cheap, is much cheaper than anything from Sony's G or GM line. Minuses: Not really minuses but minor nits since there's not much else to pick on. The lightness comes from a plastic fantastic build quality. If you hold this lens and another lens from Sony or Sigma (or even some of Tamron's other lenses) you'll feel the difference. This lens is still light years ahead of Tamron's older lenses. Also if you are used to other branded lenses, the switched focus / zoom rings may require you to retrain your muscle memory otherwise you'll always be grabbing the wrong ring. Overall still a great lens and arguably the best bang for the buck on E mount at the present time, along with it's sibling 17-28 2.8 and you'll only really be missing a longer zoom (70ish to 200) to complete the common 3 lens combo.

Awesome lens! Quick, sharp and much needed option other than Sony brand considering price point. Weight isn't too bad and manageable. The 2.8 is a great add for those looking for an everyday lens.

This is my first lens that I have purchased for my A7II to replace the kit lens equivalent that came with the camera that fell into the river trying to photograph Neowise. I wasnt bummed since I planned to upgrade but that came sooner rather than later anyways..... I have been doing research and found this lens to be the one for me. I wanted something light, sharp, and affordable. Ding ding ding! The sony GM version is over 2x the cost for marginal benefits. I didn't need the extra buttons nor IS (since I shot on tripod mainly). Over the kit lens, It provides a cleaner and sharper image. The color rendition is great too! The faster lens (relative to the kit) allows an improved control over depth of field as well as increases usability in low light situations. It is almost twice the size of the kit lens and when I took it out I was pleased with the build quality! I have read many reviews docking points because of the choice to use plastic but modern polymers have come a long long way and this aint no plastic toy. It definitely feels like a quality item regardless if it uses plastic. Modern materials are very strong and light and I am not taking a hammer to this thing anyways so metal for me is overkill. There is quite the improvement on autofocus compared to the kit lens. It is fast and seems to be more accurate (have barely gotten it and only shot a handful of times) than the kit. It snaps fast to your autofocus point and I photograph a lot of wildlife so it is important that it does it quickly. I took a photograph of a hummingbird and it did not struggle as much as the kit lens. The way the focus and zoom rings are located compared to the kit lens threw me for a small loop but I believe this set up is better. I can focus with the ring that is closer to the body which disrupts less compared to it being further away which is good for hand held shooting so you can be more stabilized. I am still getting adjusted to it but I know I will like it a lot more when I get adjusted. I am extremely satisfied with this lens and it has cemented my decision to purchase the 70-180 next from Tamron. If you want to save some money, not big on thrills and frills, and want to upgrade from the kit lens, this lens will surely not disappoint!

I just got this lens and paired it with my A7iii. It’s affordable, produces excellent images and is super portable. You cant get a better f/2.8, weather sealed, full frame lens for the price.

The lens is sharp and provide coverage for a lot of focal lengths. Not as fast as some primes, but it's an easy grab and go lens for a wide variety of scenarios. This is especially true if size isn't an issue. There are some auto focus issues compared to my native Sony lenses, but not enough for me to jot recommend this lens.

Fantastic lens. The 2.8 aperture makes pics nice and bright, and provides that nice bokeh, and it somewhat has macro ability, but I do not think it is as good as advertised (i maybe misread "2.9x magnification" as 1:2.9 magnification, but the 2.9x also does not seem to be the focal zoom, as that is 2.68) but either way it still takes beautiful pictures. This lens is also less than half the price as the sony brand 24-70 f/2.8 making it a great deal If i had to nitpick, its doesnt have any extra bells or whistles like a focus lock or af/mf toggle, its just a bare lens. It also doesnt have stabilization, so keep that in mind if you are trying to put it on a cropped sensor other than the a6500.

If you only have the money to buy one lens and you want to do a variety of different shoots, this is the one! This is my 4th lens that I’ve bought for my A7iii and it’s my favorite all around lens! It does everything well and I have no issues with it! There was no way I was going to buy the GM version. It can’t be that much better at more than double the price because this one is excellent!

I've been wanting to buy 24-70mm lens for my sony mirrorless camera but they're always expensive. Then I saw this in bestbuy, I patiently read all the reviews and Q&As which made me decide to buy this instead. It didn't disappoint me on my first use, it's fast in focusing and sharp even in higher f-stops. It feels heavier than expected but the awesome pictures I'm getting outweighs that for me. Very good bokeh at f2.8, I am in awe of how powerful and sharp this is at low light.

Price is just right. Quality is fantastic. Sharp and only slightly soft in the corners. Focuses like a first party lens from Sony which is good. Build quality is great. I prefer this over the Sony all metal body like the 55mm Zeiss which you can scratch just by looking at it the wrong way. The material used on this lens is more resistant to scratches. The only con for most I think is the reversed placement of the focus ring.

Im loving this lens! Its compared to the G-master but so much better in price. 28mm is wide enough for landscaping and 50-75mm for Portraits. Its built pretty well too. I did alot of research on which all-in-one lens I can travel with and I finalized this one and I cant Complain. For sample images please visit my IG page: @mon5tagraphy

This is a great lens for sony e-mount. I bought it for my Sony A7III and use it for both photo and video -- I love it! The quality of the lens build is sturdy, sleek, and relatively lightweight for a smaller zoom lens. The autofocus is excellent. Image quality is ridiculously sharp with great color rendition and good bokeh. I highly recommend!

95% as good as the 24-70 f/2.8 G Master at less than half the price, while also smaller, lighter, and better balanced on the Sony full frame mirrorless cameras. I’m more of a prime lens than a zoom lens shooter, but I love this lens. Compared to the Sony Zeiss 24-70 f/4, this one is well worth the few extra bucks.

I own Sony camera's and while I own a few Sony lenses. They don't come cheap! Tamron is good quality lens, that won't hit your wallet nearly as much. I prefer prime lenses, but this Lens is super versatile! Been using a lot more for my portrait work.

This lens checks all the boxes. Good sharpness for a zoom lens, and good color even wide open. The weight is a good balance for a Sony alpha mirrorless body compared to some of the other lenses in this focal range. I would highly recommend this lens. I own 2 for my photo studio and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another.

Sharp lens with amazing auto focus speed on a budget, build quality might lack a little when compared to sigma or GM but trust me it’s worth it. Light weight and smaller in size than the competitors. It is a very nice pairing with a A7r iii or A7r iv

I use a Sony A7RIV and I have a few G Master lenses. This lens was exactly what I was looking for. Even though it wasn't quite a "g master" quality it makes up for in weight and quality of the image.
