Customers are saying

Customers find value in the exceptional image quality and ease of use of the SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 Telephoto Zoom Lens. Many appreciate its sharpness and ability to produce excellent results, even without a tripod. However, some users note that the lens is quite heavy. This weight can make it challenging to use for extended periods, especially without a tripod.

Although it can take super close photos with my Nikon 7100, I found it much too heavy with a tripod to carry and use effectively. Best used if subjects don't require much hauling of equipment. I ended up returning it.

    Tamron 150-600 just OK

I guess it's decent for the money. But at 600mm, which is pretty much what I was shooting at is wasn't as sharp as I would like. I ended up purchasing the Nikon 500mm PF lens. When I tested it against the Tamron, and enlarged the photo to the same size as the Tamron, it TOTALLY blew away the Tamron as far as sharpness goes. Other issues, doesn't focus as quick as I need for birds in flight, and zoom ring is awfully stiff. But to be fair, the Nikon costs almost 3 times as much, but for me it was worth it. I indicated I recommend this lens, but that is if it's all you can afford.

Great lens! I rented this lens a couple times before I purchased it and compared it to the Nikon. I am pretty happy with it!

For the price you can’t beat this lens. It has been very good to me. I wish is was a little sharper around the edges but really cannot complain.

Lens feels good, looks good. But the infinity lock is not great. I though the lens was broken because I could not extend it out. So I return it thinking it was broken. Manila doesn’t say anything about it. Swap it for a Nikon lens, Nikon had better glass anyway.

Not the best wildlife lens for the money but better than every zoom lens I’ve tried above 300mm in the same price range except the Nikkor 200-500. Screw in foot comes loose and locks it up. Autofocus is not reliable. Ive tried 2 before giving up on it.

I REALLY DONT USE IT MUCH... BUT WHEN I AM GOING TO USE IT I WOULD LIKE IT TO WORK! AND THIS LENS STARTED LAST YEAR TO HUNT WHILE TAKING PICTURES AFTER THE 450 MM, DIDNT THINK MUCH ON IT, BUT WANTED TO TAKE PICTURES OF WILDLIFE A FEW DAYS AGO AND JUST COULD NOT DO IT. SORRY TAMRON... YOU HAVE PROBLEMS!
