I have been playing with wildlife photography for about 5 years now. Prior to this lens I was using the Tameron 70 to 200 with a 2X tele-converter great set up, but the tele-converter slowed the focus down, meaning I took a lot of shots with no guarantee they would be sharp. Not a problem with this lens. It was awesome right out of the box, and for the price there isn’t a better option I’ve found.

I'm always looking to get the shot. So before my trip to Maine I wanted to get a long lens to put on my second camera. (I always carry 2 both with different lenses) The 95 mm. optics are larger than the filters I own and all I could find in town (day before I left) was a cheap really cheap polarizer.($50) It helped cut through the early morning fog, but it would keep the picture from being tack sharp. Bottom line great lens if you use filters buy the good ones. At full length 600 mm you should use a tripod. This is a heavy lens it can be hard to hand hold shots

Love this lens was skeptical at firs since I hear these don't work well on a crop sensor camera but have no issues with my canon 80d and this lens highly recommend this lens if you want to start getting into birds and wildlife photography a much cheaper option with great results!

This lens is a game changer for anyone interested in getting those long shots of animals. Only issue I see it not using a tripod when you at maximum zoom. If you are at all unsteady your images will be a blurry. Good luck and happy photographing!

For the price, this is an amazing lens. As other reviewers have noted, it is a little "soft" at >500mm. One would do better to zoom and crop a 500mm than to use 600mm. You must use tripod or brace on something sturdy. Use the highest shutterspeed possible...this lens magnifies camera motion as well! The lens is heavy...and that's with a lot of plastic components. I carry my camera (Canon T3i) with lens mounted in a backpack, along with tripod...pull out to do nature photography and store again...too heavy to carry a long time (though often I do). This lens will provide you with "identifiable" images at distance. The bald eagle nest is over a half mile (1km away) and eye-watering "calendar" photography if close. The sanderling was 25 feet (7.6m) away. If you can afford prime lenses...they're much better. But this zoom, for the price, is amazing.

To be fair I took the pictures freehand; so camera shake is a real possibility. Both pictures have been cropped. The deer was only about 100 yards away and it came out very sharp. The eagle was more than 500 yards away, but my shutter speed was only at 800 and the focal point was off. It is great if you are on a budget or you need a back-up lens.

This lens completes my "collection" of Tamron lenses. In addition to a good wide angle lens (10-24), a everyday carry lens (18-200), I now have a long range telephoto to bring things up-close and personal. The lens is about a foot long and weighs about 4lbs, so dont think you are going to wear this lens on a strap around your neck. It comes with a ring that you mount to a tripod, that also doubles as a carry handle. The optics are great. The lens is clean and sharp through the full focal length with no flare. If you like wildlife photography, you will like this lens. With the built in optical stabilization, it will help overcome some of the lens shake you will get if you are trying to freehand (i recommend a higher iso and shutter speed).

Has really good reach. The clarity of it is very good. For the money I saved by getting this instead of the newest version. It's a very good deal. IT works smoothly & so far without incident. The sweet spot for this thing seems to be around the 500mm. area. you can get among other things, some GREAT close up shots, like you see on magazine covers. Now mind you I haven't fully gotten the hang of this thing just yet. But so far, it's impressive.

As an amateur photographer, I take a lot of shots of birds... mostly raptors. I've been looking at zoom lenses for many months, reading reviews, comparing features and prices, etc. I cannot justify a high-dollar lens, so when this came on sale, i jumped at it. I am glad i did. The Tamron has been a great addition to my photography bag of tricks. Autofocus and stabilization are very fast, and the clarity is great. It is a bit hefty, but not as heavy as comparable lenses. The only problem is shooting in low light conditions. I'm using a Canon T6 Rebel, and a high ISO (which is needed in low light) is very grainy. Other than that, I love this lens!

Bought this lense for long distance shots of my boys playing rugby, football and track. This lense is amazing! I can zoom in at 75 yards like im standing next to them! Crystal clear photos, lense is heavy!!! Recommend a bi-pod or tri-pod for steady shots!

Had a hard time choosing between the tamron and the canon telephoto lens but after reviewing both lenses online, I decided to go with the tamron to save a few hundred dollars more. The quality is almost about the same as the canon lens. I did read up that the shutter speed was faster on the canon though. I still decided to take my chances with this lens and was happy with my choice. Have taken some great photos with it. Drawback as well would be that it's a huge lens and becomes heavy after a while. Recommended using a tripod with it as to where the canon telephoto lens seems lighter. Pros and cons to the lens but will decide to stick with this lens for a long run.

These lenses are great and especially with the cost. Yes a prime will get a sharper image but if you want a lens that can be used at different distances, you can' t beat these for the price.

I got some good pictures from this lens. I took a picture of the moon and of the partial eclipse we had today. The picture is fuzzy as the sky was hazy. It takes good long distance photos.

This lens is a bit heavy to hand hold for more than a few shots, will need a mono or tripod for best results. Picture quality is very good. Works well with my cannon 70d.
