Lens is good for still shots far away. Best used outdoors. It is extremely heavy, so tripods are definitely recommended.

I bought this to be able to take pics of my son & his school marching band. I took this to a professional photographer friend to help me with using it for the 1st time & lo & behold it wouldn't work. He tried it on his cameras & what do ya know...it didn't work on those, either! SO...I had to return it to Best Buy because it was defective. In the meantime, my friend was able to hook me up with a great lens of the same brand that works perfectly for the same amount of money & I didn't have to wait for it to be delivered only to find out it wouldn't work. Day saved!!

I bought this lens for my Canon t6i & when I got it I took it to a professional photographer friend to get a few tips on how to use it. Unfortunately, the lens wouldn't work with my camera so he tried it with a couple of his cameras & it wouldn't work on those, either. The lens was defective & I had to return it to Best Buy.

After reading the reviews on this lense, I decided to purchase the lense over the more expensive Canon lenses. I am fairly new to the whole camera world, and made the plunge and bought the Canon 80D for myself for christmas seeing I wanted good quality pictures. I bought this lense for outdoor sporting events for my kids, the day I bought it i was on the way to my son's rugby game.. I was sitting 70 yards away from most of the action but was able to zoom in like I was right there and take crisp, sharp, clear pictures every time! I would recommend a monopod (bought that too when I purchased the lense after reading the reviews) seeing the lense is long and heavy. All around, best long distance lense I have ever used!

MY KIDS ARE ACTIVE IN BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL. THIS LENS WORKS GREAT FOR SHOOTING LONG RANGE PHOTOGRAPHY. MY OUTFIELDERS ARE BROUGHT IN VERY CLOSE. PICTURES ARE CLEAR. THE ONLY DRAW BACK IS THE LENS GETS HEAVY WITH TIME BUT I USE A MONOPOD WHICH HELPS RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. ALSO WORKS WELL FOR SHOOTING THROUGH THE FENCE AT BALL FIELDS AS IT BLOCKS IT OUT!

I have a Canon L lens and other Canon lenses which are excellent and expensive. This Tamron lens is afordable compared to a equivalent canon lens and the picture quality is very good, this gives the average person a chance to take great shoots at a reasonable price.
