I went back and forth between the Canon 70-200 and the Tamron 70-200 for MONTHS. Reading all sorts of reviews and research on both lens. Both are FABULOUS lenses. I personally didn’t want to spent $2000+ on a lens YET. so I went with the Tamron and I am blow away. Sharp isn’t even a good way to describe it... RAZOR SHARP. Clear images. It is heavy but that’s the only down fall. *pictures are from my first session with it, Downtown Bangor ME.

Fast lens, F2.8, somewhat heavy, but easy to use. Great for sports and landscape photography.

I rented the Canon version of this lens prior to purchasing this one and the image quality I get from the Tamron version is unreal. I was floored. Took me a solid month of research to make my decision but I'm happy I went with this lens over the Canon one. Definitely big, definitely heavy but 100% worth it

I also looked at the Canon 70-200 F2.8 (because I shoot on Canon) and I found that the Tamron far exceeds the Canon for image quality and built in features like image stabilization. One other very important point is the Tamron can focus on objects or subjects that are only about 5 - 7 feet from the lens, making for some awesome Bokeh in your backgrounds. If you're in the market for this type of lens you will not be disappointed with this one!

I have used this lens for three shoots so far. I have not yet made any adjustments for front/rear focusing, however, my photos were sharp. Auto focus is quick and accurate. Tamron's vibration control works flawlessly. Shooting with Canon and Tamron zooms required my getting used to location of zoom rings, which I did. Any breathing has not been a problem for me.

This lens makes impossible shots possible. I was using the Canon 55-250mm lens, but it just couldn't take action shots in low light. The F2.8 aperture lets in enough light to enable fast shutter speed, even in less than ideal lighting.

Delighted with this overall. Maybe not as sharp as a Canon L glass, but plenty sharp. Much heavier than the old Sigma 70-200 this is replacing, but the Sigma lacked IS. Still I was surprised at the size and weight increase. I am using it with an R5, because I also have a service older Canon DSLR. Still I wish Canon would relent and open the RF mount to Tamron and others.

Love this lens. I've been using it for a few months now and I am more than pleased by the quality of this lens. I use a crop sensor camera and the sharpness in the photo is outstanding. The only negative critique I have for this lens is that I hate that the focus ring and zoom ring are flipped and that the ring mechanism is the same as nikon. I've gotten used to it, but if Tamron would fix this I would give it a 5/5.

I originally wanted to buy the Canon equivalent but unfortunately it wasnt available. With other alternatives out there, I decided since I had other Tamrons, to give this one a go. I could not have asked for a better lens for the price!! I use it on a Canon 5DmkIV and it works amazing. Very fast focusing and crystal clear images! Highly recommend this lens if you can not afford the Canon! Thanks, Len

This lens is great. The images are very sharp and clear. the colors are very good. Being F2.8 I was able to get good shots indoors from a good distance while they where moving around a lot. most shots where keepers. Over all this lens is a very good quality lens.
