I wanted something simple and light that will easily slip in and out of a messenger bag, carry-on suitcase, or backpack. It protects the outside of the Chromebook from getting scratched but would not protect it from a fall. I didn't buy it for that though. I was surprised by the quality, much higher than expected - excellent!
