Not quite for the iPad Pro 9.7"

I wasn't about to pay Apple's extortionist prices for their case and cover and because this was one of the few cases available at launch, I picked it up. First, I'll start with the pros (pun intended): There is a loop on the back of the case that perfectly holds the Apple Pencil. It doesn't get in the way with the case folded back and it seems quite secure. Next, the case seems well made and sturdy (with one exception I'll explain later). I like the texture of the canvas and faux leather exterior and soft, sueded interior. And finally, the cutouts line up nicely, including for the camera and flash and four speakers, as well as for the lightning port, volume buttons, and headphone jack. Now, for the cons, two of which are likely to be a dealbreaker for most. (and the main reasons I knocked off two stars) The biggie is that this case is obviously made for the iPad Air 2, because the magnets don't line up, meaning the wake feature doesn't work AT ALL. The next major issue I have with this the latch to keep the case closed; it takes so much pressure to secure I'm also fairly sure it'll break off in the near future. In fact, it takes so much pressure that the "R" in "Targus" has broken off already. I'm also not a fan of the hole in the back where the case rotates. It leaves the back of my iPad exposed to scratches, which totally defeats the purpose of a case. It's no problem, though; I just put an old iPhone 5 screen protector on the back. Another small issue I have is the cutouts in the case for the four iPad Pro speakers are in the frame that secures the iPad itself. The problem with this is that those leave those area soft and I worry a little that if I grab the case where those cutouts are, the iPad might pop out. I highly doubt it will, but I don't like that the case pulls away like that. Overall, it's a perfectly serviceable case and it does most of what I'd expect a case to do, with the main exception of the wake up function. Unless you REALLY need the ability to rotate your iPad Pro, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

    Love Rubber Cases

I have had 3 ipads, and purchased rubberized cases for each over the years. This new cover claims to fit the new IPAD. It fits, but does have a tendency to slip off along the top, bottom and side edges, but NEVER pops off the corners. Therefore, it only needs to be slightly readjusted. The buttons are a little difficult to access. I had a TEK case, for my first , a CARA CASE by SWITCHEASY, for 2nd gen ipad, and now this one for the new ipad. CARA was the best, but is no longer made. This one works, gives great protection, and folds back nicely. The magnetic flap closure always works. It seems to be the only one available that is rubberized. Wish I didn't have to adjust it every day, but I would recommend it if you like a sleek case with the protection of rubber, I strongly recommend this case.

The Targus VersaVu Folio is a sharp looking case for the iPad Pro 9.7 with four holes for the edge speakers the new iPad comes with. Rotates a full 360 degrees so you can easily enjoy watching a movie in landscape or if you're simply reading an article in vertical the case complies. If you do have an Apple Pencil there is a nice spot for it in the back of the case. I do wish they had put the slot in the front rather than the back because putting my iPad down I would have to put it face down rather than up because of my Pencil. (Not trying to break a $99 stylist) Also the clip that locks the folio up I wish Targus did a better job on that. I'm always struggling closing that bad boy up. Other than that it's a fine product.

Good case but has some problems

I really like the design of this rotating folio. It's easy to use in either the horizontal or vertical position. It fits my iPad Pro 9.7 quite well, and the sound delivery is quite good. However, I have had a couple of problems with my folio. First of all, the case shades the flash on the iPad Pro to such an extent that my flash pictures appear washed out. Second, I have had the folio for only a month now, and the clip that holds it closed broke yesterday. It has a limited lifetime warranty, though, and I will be contacting Targus for a replacement or repair. So long as they make things right, I'll be a happy customer. If I have any problems with the warranty service, I'll post an updated review.

This is my third Versavu case and this is the best one yet. The plastic that holds the IPad is not as stiff and brittle as the older versions- more rubberized- which is good because it’s less likely crack or chip out than older versions. The cover material on this version is real fabric and not fake leather or vinyl covering so it should hold up better. The one place it doesn’t so as well in is holding the iPad in a viewing position when not on a flat surface. If the case is sitting on something that tilts the whole assembly forward, the iPad holder slips out of the notches in the cover. Overall though, this case performs very well.

    Sloppy Case

Flimsy TPU/rubber which often slides off of iPad edges during use. I highly doubt “military grade.” Volume and power buttons difficult to access. “Vents” in front of speakers distort sound. Case doesn’t close well so smart on/off doesn’t work well. When closed (even with strap), case buckles allowing anything to get between case and screen if in bag etc —> potential scratching or screen damage. Feels crooked in hand when holding during use in open position. I do like materials other than TPU and the ability to use in landscape or portrait position. I’m returning this item.

I've always liked Targus because they provide quality products. You might see similar covers listed on eBay, but I can guarantee you you're not going to get the Targus quality. What's particularly interesting about this model is it's clasp. It actually snaps closed instead of depending on an elastic band or on a magnetic closure. I really appreciate this very secure closing because it guarantees that my case is not going to flip open when dropped and expose my iPad to damage. So far the clasp has given me no trouble with opening and closing, and I have no reason to doubt it's continued smooth and successful operation.

So, I normally don't like to use cases. (Yes, I like to live dangerously). So when I realized how often I use my iPad, it got me thinking that it really needed a case. Functionality, the swivel is actually useful when changing orientation. Especially when getting it propped up as a stand. The protection coverage is pretty nice. My iPad had fallen a few times in awkward orientations, but the padding on the case kept it safe. The rubber case was quite enough, though the actual cover gives it both coverage (for the screen) and even extra cushioning. The style is pretty nice: it sometimes fools me to think that it's a book.

It is best to buy this product when it is on sale. The overall protection around the edges, which sets it apart from other cases designs, is worth paying attention to. I always consider the worse situation when I drop the entire iPad onto the hard floor and wonder if it will stay within the case. This actually happened and my case did protect the edge and iPad was still locked in. It has a lock that keeps the screen covered at all times. Also the case can rotate the iPad either as vertical or landscape, which I thought was a thoughtful design. Overall good case!

This case looks nice and is protective. However, the professionals could not install a screen cover on my I pad, for screen protection, because the case did not leave enough room back to front. The depth from the back of the case to the front needed to have just a bit more space. If you want a screen saver added, keep this in mind, other wise it is a good case. I wish I could take it back because I want that extra protection, but I threw away the packaging.

I’ve had a few Targus cases for different iPads thru the years. This one fits the 6th gen iPad perfectly. I think for me the best feature is the vertical view. Not many cases offer this and this was the deciding factor to buy this case for me. The iPad has a snug fit, so you don’t have to worry about it dropping out. I do wish it had a place for an Apple Pencil. But the quality isn’t bad, it’s not the best but it will do for normal everyday carry. Overall, I like it.

After a month, I noticed the targus letters on the clamp are coming off. Now it says arg s. Also, the clamp broke. It still closes and functions, but it is broken. Everything else is super nice. I love the look. The case needs a better designed closing system. Maybe metal instead of plastic. The apple pencil will charge with the case on, but it feels as if it can be pushed in further when it can't.

This case has a classy shell. It allows the user 4 adjustments to the viewing stand angle. The volume buttons, headset and charging ports are easily accessible. When you close the case it case it automatically turns off the time delay screen and requires your password when it’s re-opened. It also has a keep secure clip to close the case. This is a highly recommended case

Targus Signature Versavu Folio for iPad Pro is well made, but the side buttons are hard to get to because the opening isn't in a convenient place. Also, my iPad Pro 9.7 doesn't really stay in the sleep mode when it is closed so it wears down the battery quickly. I have my setting for the sleep/wake mode "Off" when cover is open/shut. I manually put it in sleep and wake mode. For me this is not a problem, but for others they may not like to manually do this. I will keep the case because it is well made.

I am truly impressed with this case for my device. It is light and fits my device perfectly. It is also stylish as well as durable. I know if my device were to fall this case would definitely protect it. I don’t have to worry about my device while carrying it in and out of the house no matter the weather conditions. I always go to Best Buy for all my electronic purchases.

This case is beyond my expectations. I bought this case just by reading the reviews online and I am amazed by the product. It is so versatile for landscape or portrait mode. I really like the click lock on the side, it keeps my iPad closed when in my purse or bag and I don't have to worry about my top cover of the case ripping off or tearing. This case also makes my iPad very sturdy. I am not scared anymore of breaking my iPad if I drop it.

My new 5th generation iPad fits nicely in my new Targus folio case. It has a rubber piece around it that protects the corners. I don’t typically drop mine, knock on wood, but I feel secure that it will be protected. It has several good features with the 360-degreerotating angle that allows me to stand it up on the side. I down load recipes to try. This helps me to see directions more easily!

Looks nice but the latch that keeps it closed is made of plastic and only worked for a couple of months. I contacted Targus and they offered to replace it if I sent them the defective which they did. Customer support was excellent but would rather have avoided all of that extra money and work. Looks like they sent the same model, so hoping the latch will last longer this time.

I bought this same day as grabbing my Pro. Good sale on the case and I just wanted something temporary until I found the right case. Never bought a new case as this does all that I could want. Holds the pencil, swivels and props up tablet, locks closed to completely protect the Pro. I originally wanted something with a keyboard too. Opted for just a simple Bluetooth keyboard that I can travel with in place of a full laptop.

Love this lightweight case. I purchased it in black/gray. It wipes clean and doesn't show any soil marks. My last IPad case was too bulky (it had speakers built in) and was considerably heavier that this case. It has a nice sleek look and a solid clasp that closes and locks in place to secure my IPad. I recommend this case over cheaper ones that don't look as nice or have a locking clasp on the side.
