Awesome tv! Very intuitive and easy to navigate. I bought it for my sons to use their Nintendo switch on, and the picture is crisp and the sound from the TV is fantastic. I never owned a TCL before, but the next time I need a television, I will strongly consider another one.

I wanted to really like everything about this TV, but sadly it has one thing about that is really substandard -- the audio quality. TCL makes good TVs and I have one of their top of the line 65-inch TVs. So I bought this 40-inch S3 because I believe in the brand, and I rather like the integrated Google TV system/ecosystem. And the picture is great and the user interface is great. But the audio quality. is. poor. In fact, I thought something had to be wrong with the TV, so I took it back to Best Buy and exchanged it for another of the same model. But the audio was the same - it's really quite bad. I've owned several TVs of this size/class and so I have a reasonable expectation of how the audio should be in a TV this size, and my expectations are always met. But not with this TV. The audio quality is very tinny and hollow with absolutely no low end. I acknowledge that the TV is quite thin and therein lies most of the reason for the poor audio quality. It seems that they couldn't or didn't install good enough speakers to compensate for the narrow depth. Anyways, if you buy this TV, you'll discover that it has a great image but the audio is embarrassing. The solution of course, is just to get a sound bar or even some amplified computer speakers will sound better than the built-in sound system. It's that bad.

TCL - 40" Class S3 S-Class LED Full HD Smart TV with Google TV (2023): Poor sound quality with internal speakers (tinny) / Very good picture quality. Remote control not intuitive, but learnable. I'm using an external sound system instead of the internal speakers. I’d buy it again if a more thorough search didn’t reveal a 40" TV with better sound quality & very good picture quality, that fits in my entertainment center.

Very pleased with my TCL 40" tv. Went from a 2019 Vizio Once connected to my router the apps and dowloads were seamless and fast. Pleased with the quality of picture and sound and the OS is Google very easy to navigate. The Black Friday incentive was even more inticing

This TV is used in my home gym and it's perfect. Great features and performance. Super lightweight so wall mounting was a breeze.

This is a good budget television if you only have room for a 40” TV, but be warned there are larger models for the same price. What I appreciate about this model is it is hassle-free as I was not interested in the Smart functions, I prefer to use my AppleTV for streaming. It was minimal effort to setup this TV and skip wireless setup, but by contrast I returned a Vizio model which was a nightmare to setup with multiple screens, required wifi, required mobile app, etc. I cannot comment on the TCL TV festures but the picture quality is great and sound is plenty loud.

Good picture quality for the price. Communication between the TV and remote is a little spotty and menu responsiveness is heavy with lag. Overall, I like it for our spare bedroom.

We bought it for our son to use in his college dormitory and it was perfect, an excellent image, good sound, useful for playing his consoles and even for using different apps. He is very happy with his TV and the best thing is that it is at a good price. I think it has been my best purchase. Really satisfied.

The tv needed to be just the right size to fit into a confined space. I'm not familiar with 'roku' type tvs but setting up the tv itself and then following the online instructions to get the tv up and running went quickly and the set worked. I put the settings on basic tv because setting it up for all of their apps and whatever would be a big learning curve and not necessary at this time. My building is contracted with a cable company and I must use their remote to view not only basic, but cable channels and shows I have recorded. I will eventually learn and program the TCL for its intended use. The tv is working well, but I've only had it for about a month. I hope it continues to be good.

A nice small TV for a spare bedroom. Easy to set up and connect to Dish. Very good picture. Speakers could use a boost. Decent price. Very helpful Best Buy sales advisor.
