Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the picture quality, easy setup, price, Roku integration, and gaming experience of the 43" Class 5 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Roku TV. They appreciate the amazing picture quality, simple setup, affordability, convenience of Roku's built-in streaming platform, and its suitability for gaming. However, customers are negative about the remote control's cheap feel, concerns about durability, reports of screen issues and short lifespans, and the color quality.

The picture looks good and the integration with Roku works fine. Duel-band wi-fi is great. I knocked off two stars after consulting with both TCL and Roku customer support. Each customer support blames the other for problems with the TV. Neither takes responsibility and expresses a desire to fix it. The Roku remote control is limited. Just a couple buttons. No number input. The way the TV was designed, a user has to press up and down to find a desired channel. I connected the TV to a universal remote so that I would be able to press numbers to change the channel. But the TV doesn't support this feature. Also, the favorite channels feature is automatic and doesn't allow a user to choose his own favorite channels. The second issue has to do with the stand. By placing the feet on the outside, the TV needs a stand that is as wide as the TV. A single stand in the middle would be just as stable and minimize how big of a stand a user would need.

The picture quality is surprising great. I had purchased a 4 series in 50" and I had to return it, it was almost unwatchable. I hesitated to get this model for our bedroom, but decided to give it a try. All I did was connect it to where my old tv was, using the same location and smae paper this cheapo antenna I had given up on with my former TV. Right away I connected the smart features, which looked amazing. Then I did a channel scan, which took very little time and VIOLA! The channel were clear and beautiful and there were more than i had previously. The tuner on this is amazing. The picture quality is very good and we are probably a little too close than we should be for this size. I am very happy with purchase. Even more interesting is after I connected it and set it up, the next day in the sunlight I could see the unit better and noticed it was damaged in shipping. I took it out of the box and hung it so I never really looked too closely it seems. Even with a significant bend in the screen it looks good. I know I should return it, but with the current pandemic, returning items is difficult, and hey, it works great :)

I upgraded from a 1080p display, because I read that the HDR on this model was worthwhile, and I like TCL’s general quality-to-affordability ratio. I have not been disappointed! I could take or leave 4k, but the HDR mode is stunning every time. I also prefer Roku’s UI and love all the ports on this TV - just enough for all the peripherals I use plus an input for an antenna (free tv? yes please). All in all, no buyer’s remorse here - I expect to love this tv for the next few years, at least!

Picture and sound are good for streaming shows and as an office computer monitor. You will need an HDMI 2.0 or higher compliant cable to get 4k at 60 fps from your computer or gaming console. Roku services work well. My biggest complaint is the Roku remote. The Remote can take some getting used to since it is a Roku remote and not a traditional tv remote. Once you get used to that it is fine until it stops working for awhile. Luckily, you can use the Roku app on android or apple phones if you are using a WiFi network. The phone app remotes seem more reliable. I have a similar 50 inch 5 series TCL Roku TV from last year and have similar remote issues with that TV, too. Overall, for the price, I would still buy this TV again.

I bought an open box TV. Wrong remote. Wrong power cord. No stand.Huh? Manager replaced it with a new factory sealed unit. Now that I can plug it in and turn it on it is great. I have this 43" 4K connected to both my laptop and desktop computers right next to it's 2 year old twin. Makes a sweet setup for these old eyes.

The picture quality is very good, and the built in Roku streams excellent in our home. We have Verizon FiOS Quantum router with the mated WiFi extender and have no lag. My only dissapointment with the TV is that the remote that comes with it does not have the quick button for SLING TV, although it has a quick button for Hulu, ESPN, Netflix, an one other channel. Per the box, the TV also has voice control capabilities, but unfortunately, the remote does not have a button to push for voice commands. You can upgrade the remote to a Roku brand at Best Buy for $30, or at Amazon for $20. It just seems to me that the remote should be updated for these two issues. I would have given the TV 5 stars if the remote was improved for these two issues.

Easy to use, plenty of features and most important a very good picture. There are multiple picture modes to select from that will meet most every day needs. I am giving it 4 stars only because it is so new. I want to see if it lasts multiple years.

Love this TV. Great pic, lots of choices of things to watch. People do not like the remote, but one can live with it. Im still learning what ROKU is and what it can do and so far so good my friends! Easy setup for the installer as he was outta here within an hour. And do not forget about the great price.

The TCL 4 Series 2019 is an alright overall budget TV with built-in Roku TV. It delivers decent picture quality and displays deep blacks thanks to its VA panel's outstanding contrast ratio. Although it has decent reflection handling, it doesn't get very bright and isn't suitable for a well-lit room. It lacks a wide color gamut, and due to its low HDR peak brightness, it can't deliver HDR content with vivid colors and bright highlights. The response time is fast and it displays fast-moving content with very little blur trail. It offers a responsive gaming performance thanks to the low input lag, but unfortunately, it lacks advanced gaming features like FreeSync.

TV has an amazing picture considering the great price. The features on the TV are very easy to navigate through to put all your apps that you would need to watch Netflix/ Hulu / Direct TV Now. I got this tv for for my guest room. After looking at the picture im going to trade it out for my LG in my bedroom and enjoy this one .

TCL sold in Europe for years has come to USA. The prices are fantastic for same quality TVs as Samsung and Sony. Just remember the series level of the TV is different for all brands. The lower the level the less quality you are getting. This TV has good picture for a better price but not a lot of adjustment room. I like to tweak my colors. So I returned this one and the 8 Series just because if this one was this good right out of the box I couldnt go wrong. The smallest in the 8 Series is 55 coming out with 49 inch soon. Roku comes on this brand a plus. You can go from Netflix to Youtube by clicking the icon on main screen. You can even add ICONs for ebox DVD and other electronics. Ease of use is way better than others out there

I knew I wanted a Roku tv, because I love the Roku format and it seemed extra convenient to make my smart tv purchase a Roku tv. But I was uncertain about brands, because I'd never had a TCL and had barely heard of them. Those concerns are gone now. First off, the default display options work well for me. The theater sound is pretty good, though as many people have said, Netflix and Hulu are two separate sound systems. I haven't noticed a lag at all, and hooking my digital antenna up made watching live tv effortless. No longer do I have to choose the source from a separate tv remote. Honestly, this is a great pairing and when I buy a larger tv for my living room it may just be a TCL. I'm impressed. (I don't use the included stand. I got a table top mount elsewhere that works great.)

This is our second TCL TV. The first one we've had about a year. For both TVs, in terms of picture quality, color, and ease of use, the TCLs equal or even surpass much more expensive TVs. Sound quality is the only drawback. It's difficult to understand what's being said unless the volume is turned way up. Possibly a sound bar would solve the problem, but I haven't tried that yet.

I am a very finicky person when it comes to tvs. Maybe it's just me but usually when I get a TV home the picture isn't the same as in the store or the sound isn't as clear. I've gone back and forth as many as 5 times before until I found "the one". So when I went to Best Buy I was dreadfully looking for to my abnormal selection process. While looking around I had a sales rep recommend TCL brand. He said they were an up and coming brand so I figured I'd give it a shot. It was a hands down 1 and done purchase. It's awesome! The sound is extremely clear and the picture is super high quality. I love watching movies in Dolby Vision on this set. And for the price (I think I caught it on sale for $299) it's undeniably the best bang for the buck.

This review is for 43s525, I already have 49s425, 5-series has a noticeably brighter picture, though both are very clear and sharp. Roku OS is nice and easy to use too. The setup was a breeze for both. The value for the price is great, as the prices have come dome down a lot. I was considering Samsung too but my initial experience with 49s425 was very good so I went with 43s525. The build quality seems good, certainly for the price, and they both look nice too. For the difference in price of about $70, I would recomment 5-series, I think it is worth it. Overall, very good, i would recommend TCL.

Out of the box and operating within minutes. Before turning on I had connected peripherals (Sound bar, wireless headphones & DVD player). Was confused by no audio. Reconnected then noticed in menu that TV speakers off when headphones are plugged in. That's why I landed on 4 star and not 5 star rating. Minor hassle but livable. Nice perk was the included component connector for DVD player. Once up and running it was easy to navigate menu and log into accounts. As is picture is great. Fiddled with preset options to suit my taste. Very satisfied with this purchase three days in.

The picture is pretty solid for a $300 4K TV and if you have any experience with Roku you will be familiar with the built-in app. That being said, every time I turn on the TV the Roku app is the first page you see and it requires that I find the TV remote to turn on cable. My cable remote turns on the TV and cable box but need the other remote to get to the correct input, this is pretty annoying. Also, the remote is not RF it is IR, which means it needs line of sight and this can be a bit trying sometimes as well. Good picture, remote is irritating.
