Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the picture quality, easy setup, price, Roku integration, and gaming experience of the 43" Class 5 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Roku TV. They appreciate the amazing picture quality, simple setup, affordability, convenience of Roku's built-in streaming platform, and its suitability for gaming. However, customers are negative about the remote control's cheap feel, concerns about durability, reports of screen issues and short lifespans, and the color quality.

Super vivid color and crispness. Our main reason for the purchase was an upgrade from an old plasma TV and to allow us to mount the TV on the wall. At just 17lbs we had it up and mounted in about 30 minutes. The reduced power usage of an LED screen was another good selling point for us. The Roku apps are a nice convenience so we don't have to use an additional device for our streaming content. One of the coolest features so far has just been using the Roku mobile app as a TV remote control when we couldn't find the physical remote.

This is our first 'new tv' in several years. Setup could not have been easier. Plug it in and turn it on. The picture quality is outstanding. Very sharp details. When they say they show black as truly black, they are not exaggerating. Took us a while to stop thinking the set turned itself off for those few shows and commercials that go black for a second or two. Sound could be better, but is adequate. A sound bar makes for a great experience. The fact that is has ROKU built in is a plus for sure.

This TV has been literally perfect since I bought it last September. The built-in Roku is so fast and easy to use, and for the price, the picture is great and has so many options when it comes to customization. I read some reviews that warned of screen issues or dead pixels, but months and months later, it still looks as good as new. I'm even playing my PS5 on it. I know it's not a TV built for next-gen gaming, but for now, it more than gets the job done.

This TV is amazing. Set-up was super easy. The price was right. My main issue is the TV won't allow my cable remote to control the volume. Other TVs I've had do allow for this. But that's the worst thing I can say. I would definitely recommend this TV to others.

Top Value for 4K Streaming OS Bedroom Set

Hands down the best value and picture quality in this price range. In fact to my eye it outperforms our 2018 65" Sony XBR in terms of 4K streaming performance. I'm not a gamer, but the picture quality watching true UHD streaming content such as "The Expanse", is truly absurd for a set that cost me well under $300 out the door. In fact I haven't found anything I don't love about this unit, at least after getting used to the ROKU operating platform and integrating all our existing APPs and phones into it, which really wasn't that much of a hassle considering how much junk we all carry with us digitally these days. For a bedroom TV viewed from 10ft away directly in front of the screen as in my case, this model is an absolute home run in both quality and value. I know people knock on the "HDR" performance in benchmarked tech reviews because the screen can't get bright enough to guarantee the exciting potential for permanent retinal damage on its max settings... But realistically speaking its a 40" TV.... True 4k res. on a 40" screen in itself is silly and totally unnecessary, but this unit delivers that quality with no perceptible motion lag that I've noticed so far while pushing it in 4k. So I can personally live without having the ability to blind myself accidently or make my wife furious in a dark bedroom watching it. This unit with a solid wifi signal will blow your mind and make you feel that every penny was well spent. (Review based upon 43" series 5 unit, used in shaded Bedroom only).

The visuals on this TCL are excellent for being less than $400 while on sale. You won't get the equivalent of some bigger priced products but for the price point it's king. The audio quality can be strange at times sometimes louder when gaming than when streaming say Hulu, a sound bar would take care of that issue not a necessity if on a budget. Game mode makes titles like Battlefield V, NBA 2K19, and Death Stranding look great. The Roku channel library is easy to browse and there is even a companion app to help download channels. When first setting up the TV you just make a simple Roku account and can even add apps during initial set up.

Cannot beat this television for the price - and glad that I decided, at the last minute, to opt for the more advanced 5 Series. Beautiful picture and especially good sound. Really like the super-thin bezel around the screen - it is almost invisible and allows for a good look and a great screen experience. We wanted a set with Roku built in - and we are not disappointed. It is so easy to access our premium channels - and having it all on one remote is exceptional

Best TV I've had so far

I have an older Insignia Fire TV that I loved, but when my wife and I decided to get Spectrum TV streaming we found out the DVR was only compatible with Roku. It left us feeling immensely frustrated, but we went out and purchased a Roku stick. That's what eventually lead us to buying this TV. The TV worked out great and is easily the best 4k TV we've owned so far. The picture is perfect and all the movies I've watched so far look amazing. We even upgraded to 4k Netflix because of it. For me there are only 2 things wrong with it. First is the remote control which seriously feels cheap. Things this small are going to fall at some point which of course mine did and eventually the rubber buttons got misaligned. This meant I had to take the remote apart and realign the buttons which was a pain to do. To avoid this I'd recommend you purchase a replacement remote as soon as you can. The only other problem is with Roku itself. The interface is clean and easy to use, but coming from a Fire TV I realized how limited it really is. HBO Max for example isn't compatible with Roku. I know I already mentioned how Spectrum TV wasn't compatible with Fire Stick, however, I haven't tried it for awhile now and I wouldn't be at all surprised if DVR is compatible with it now. Highly Recomment this TV

I use to have a much larger and older plasma screen tv. It was pretty old to the point where you can see the pixels on the screen itself and the tv had I believe its called image burn so it was time for a new one. It would heat up so much as well, it would turn my room into an oven. I'm so happy I got this tv. Its smaller but the image on it is sssooooo beautiful. I'm so happy I bought it. It barely even heats up as well. I'd say for the price, this tv is worth it.

This tv was my first tv and I’ve got to admit that it had a really good image and HDR for gaming makes it looks really good, the layout of the menu and home screen is easy to use, easy to switch inputs, the speakers are good for just cable tv bit movies or gaming it would not be as good, I used some external speakers and it was easy to connect to the tv through the audio jack. Overall this was a really good buy for the price and I’ve had no problems with it yet.

Excellent TV for my daughter's bedroom! Out the box the picture is amazing! Not a lot of options, but the Roku setup is simple to use! For the price (Open Box) It was good but! Non of the TCL lottery issues I've read about! Since my wife can't have my Sony? She agreed to get a TCL six series instead because of the picture quality on the 4 series!!

Directions were very clear. We were able to easily add our streaming accounts, attach to WiFi, hook up devices and name them (no more guessing which input to switch to!) and it works so smoothly now. Picture quality is excellent. I wish it had two more HDMI connections. We don’t have enough to hook up everything. It has no red-yellow-white connections, FYI. We had to buy an adapter ($9) for our wii and our other game systems.

Great budget 4k tv. Does HDR well with streaming video and also with PS4 games, also having a game mode is nice. This is my first TCL tv and there have been no issues in about 10 months of use, I'm very happy with the purchase.

The picture is excellent. Lots of free apps. I wish this had better child/protection settings. I bought this for my son's bedroom. I wish it had a way to set when the TV can be turned on and have it automatically shut off at certain time to prevent binge watching past his bed time. The sleeper function has to be set through menus, I wish it were on the remote.

This is a great budget tv, and the cheapest HDR set with Dolby Vision I could find. It handles reflections quite well, the black levels are great for a non locally dimmed TV, and the design is light and the bezels are small. However, I bought this tv thinking it had motion settings that could help remove judder and it does not. Apparently the 43" has limited controls compared to the larger siblings. This is folly. The smaller models should have just as many features as the larger ones, and continues to be a maddening aspect of buying a tv for many consumers, smaller frames with top options. I would have given 5 stars based on the value of this TV, but not being able to control the motion (natural cinema, etc) drops it to a 3.

Overall, a good 4K TV for the price. Roku is nice too. However, my TV often makes an annoying buzzing noise whenever I play 4K Blu ray discs on my PS5. I have no idea what that is about. If anyone can steer me in the direction for answers, I'd appreciate it. More accurately, I would probably give this TV a 3.5/5 score.
