    Great TV. Pleasantly surprised

I was in the market for a TV because I purchased a gaming system (PS4 Pro) for my daughter and wanted a 4K television so that the graphics and game play were fully supported and realized. I, quite naturally, started looking at the big three: Sony, Samsung and LG. Then considered Sharp, Toshiba and Insignia. Keep in mind, I was trying to get a TV on a budget because I just spent $400+ on a console and it was going in a 14 year old teenager's room. Most of what I looked at from a specs perspective were more or less similar in terms of Toshiba, Sharp, Insignia, Westinghouse, Vizio and LG. One important feature that I wanted was the TV to have 120hz refresh rate to keep up with the speed and graphics of the console. On the recommendation of a friend, I took a look at the TCL line of TVs. He had nothing but good things to say about a 65" he purchased. I saw this particular TV on the shelf and the picture looked very good but I also know that stores tend to run a network or stream content to their TV sets at very high quality so that they look good on the shelf. At $259.99, I figured it was a worth a shot and if I didn't like it, I had a 14 day return policy to fall back on. Unboxing the TV, it was packaged in the box upside down. Not sure if this is the way they all ship but I thought that it was a bit strange. In the box, the remote, TV legs with screws to mount them, electrical cord, instructions and batteries were included. PROS: 1. Plug and play - after you plug it in, menus are self explanatory and walk you thru every step. If you have wireless internet and cable, there are a few more steps and time you're going to need but still pretty easy to do. I didn't hook this TV up to cable but it is hooked up wirelessly to the internet and a coaxial cable is screwed into the back of the TV for local channels. 2. 3 HDMI ports - a lot of TVs in this size category skimp on the amount of ports you get. I have the PS4 plugged into one and a Amazon Fire Stick plugged into the other. I have a extra HDMI cable plugged into it as well and I'll be using that one to plug in her laptop so that she can replicate what's on the screen to the TV CONS: 1. Not a fan of where the VESA mounting holes are placed. The 4 holes are positioned on the lower part of the TV so if you're wall mounting it (which I did), it sits slightly higher on the mount. It's not a jab at the quality of the TV but consider this if you intend to wall mount it. I've done a few TVs before and they tend to have the VESA mounting holes in the center. 2. Finish - Definitely a lot of plastic, which I expected at this price point. I also think that the feet/legs should have been the same color as the TV cabinet. Not sure why they decided to make them silver and the TV black. I wall mounted my TV but this may be something for a nit picky, color matching, interior decorator types to consider. 3. The remote -It's ok. Small, which most are these days. The dedicated buttons for Netflix and Direct Now are cool but it's a bit weird the have the volume buttons on the right side edge of the remote. Buttons aren't backlit either but at this price it's understandable. So there you have it. For those considering this TV, if you need a solid 4K option for an extra room in the house, as a gaming TV or transitioning from an older tube TV or non-smart set, this is a good option. Others that already have 4K TVs or that want a larger TV may want to consider another brand but before doing that, look into the larger sizes TCL sells. They have a few more options at different price points so I would imagine that those TV sets are more feature-rich.

A Bargain TV with plus features....

Bought this as a Black Friday deal, for the Bedroom, replacing my 720P 32" Samsung..... Only thing I could find wrong, with TV is viewing angle....picture does dim to left and right...….but watching from the bed eliminates that problem.... I use a lot of apps with Roku on my other tv's, and with Roku built in, no need to spend money on a Roku device, that would use up one of the HDMI ports...…. Surprised at the complaints of the quality of sound...….the sound out of this is better than my two other Samsung's and LG...... As for the picture quality, better than 720 or 1080, but not quite up to the more expensive models of the same size....but how can you complain about a $200 43" TV, with good sound, decent picture, built in roku, 3 HDMI ports, and 120 motion? Oh, and did I mention it has UHD for $200? Bought a 4K dvd player and the picture just pops out at you!

For a Bit More Get Updated Dolby Vision HDR Model

This is not a bad Roku TCL 4K UHD screen, it’s just outdated and they don’t tell you this one is a 2017 model that doesn’t have Dolby Vision HDR, which is what most of the streaming services are currently using to achieve the highest quality 4K UHD viewing experience. Pay the $20 to $30 more and get the lastest model ROKU 4K SmartTV of the same size and get the latest technology. That’s the main reason I returned mine. I’m saving up for the better model, and maybe even a larger screen as well. But this size is almost perfect for me in my bedroom where I watch most of my UHD shows and films. I also use my screen to edit my own films on, with my MacBookPro connected via HDMI. Oh, one other thing, make sure you have a fast wifi router or connect via ethernet/CAT5, and have a very fast internet package from your ISP or else you’ll experience dropouts and pausing of your shows and films while they buffer and try to catch up on slow internet connections.

Good picture, with a weird quirk

I just got this TV earlier today, set it up, and everything looks good....except there is one dead pixel just the right of dead center and it's a bit annoying when it's a light screen, I'm going to call BB tomorrow to see if they would exchange it due to the annoying dead pixel.(if it were off to the side or near and edge of the screen, I probably wouldn't have even noticed, but it's just in a bad location) On top of that, I'm a bit annoyed by the osm, if I'm hooked to a 4k source and open up the OSM, it causes the screen to glitch, the glitching goes away as soon as I close the menu, but it's just a weird quirk. All that said, the colors are great, the picture is plenty bright, and the whole picture looks great outside of that one annoying dead pixel.

Love this TV! It's the perfect size at 43 inches. Had the 49-inch and it was too large as I am also using this as a computer monitor (in a smallish space) and the larger screen was overwhelming. Picture is just fair out of the box but go to the Net and find calibrations and things get MUCH better. Xbox One graphics look amazing. Speakers are lacking and I would have given it 5 stars were they decent. Use headphones and you have yourself a 5 star experience. No half stars or I would have given it 4 and a half. I am new to Roku, which is also an unexpected pleasure. Best Buy made the buy seamless. I was in and out in about 15 minutes. Highly recommended!

Pretty good TV for the price. The roku operating system is excellent with tons of available free and subscription based apps. A lot of reviews regarding the lack of picture range are correct unfortunately. If you're not viewing the screen dead on center the color and clarity do fade a bit. But outside of that it has a nice picture. And if you want to to experience the 4K difference, make sure you have access to true 4K content. And as for High Dynamic Range (HDR) with this set, I guess if you're viewing supported content there is a slight upgrade in picture quality. One big downfall for me is there is no Bluetooth compatibility. So don't plan on connecting a speaker or soundbar via Bluetooth or you're gonna be Supremely disappointed!

    Giant 4K Computer Display

After reading the online recommendations, I selected this model as my best option for a 4K computer display, It is a good size, high resolution, sharp, clear and contrasting. It does have a few negatives. I have to use the remote to select the input, and it forgets that I want it to connect to the computer each time it goes to sleep, so I have to keep the remote handy on my desk all of the time. I wish it had convenient controls on the side of the display. It is so big, that I have to move around some to see one side or the other because it is angle sensitive. But it is like having 4 normal displays, so I can see lot of info at once when needed.

It's not a superb TV, but I would say it is good value for the money. Positives: Extremely light and the bezel/frame is very small - it's pretty much 100% TV. Picture quality/color looks good - no issues I can see with "banding" or "vignette". Set-up was simple. The Roku system is one that I really like. Value for money seems excellent. Negatives: Remote feels like a cheap piece of junk (my other Roku remote, that came with the Roku stick, feels better). Sound quality is so-so. The viewing angle thing is real - it looks great if you're sitting in front, but if you're too far out of the perfect line of sight, the image quality plummets.

I was very excited to get a 4K TV, and I was not disappointed. The excitement wore off quickly once I realized that the cable TV I was watching was not in 4K, neither was my Xbox, nor my laptop. Granted, the TV made everything look better, it was just not for me. If you don't plan on playing 4K games on a 4K console, or renting 4K movies all the time, then a 4K TV might be overkill. Plus, if I was to get a 4K TV, I would save up some more money and get one of the higher end models, because that is where you will see a remarkable difference. Again, for the money and for the right person this TV is great. Just not for me at this time.

I've been hesitant on upgrading to a 4k television until the new lower price points dropped. I've been researching best bargain price tv's and the TCL brand keeps topping each list. This model was on sale at Best Buy and I thought it was time to go for it. Glad I did! Very good quality, visuals are great. I purchased an Xbox One S as well to play some games in HDR and 4k. Very noticeable different in graphics. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to venture into the 4k world of tv's that won't break the bank. Good quality, good features. I'm honestly going to buy a second one for our home.

Not familiar with the TCL brand but couldn't pass it up especially when it's relatively inexpensive for a 4k HDR smart TV. Great for gaming and 4k movies. Love the built in Roku as well for streaming. Have had for a while now and if there's one complaint I have it's that sometimes when I power it on, it can't seem to reconnect to my internet automatically or fast enough. I have to go into settings and select check connection just for it to reconnect. Takes about 30 seconds tops. Other than that TV works great.

For the price is the best 4k TV deal you can get. You don't even need to buy an additional Roku to stream. If you're familiar with Roku you'll find it extremely easy to set up/use. Perhaps not the best option to use in a very bright environment (like outdoor) but pretty good for inside (living room/bedroom), but then again you'd need to spend quite a lot more to get the best/brightest image of a 4K TV. Roku sometimes get a bit sluggish but in general is good (so far-only have had it for a week) and works fine while streaming

The TCL ROKU TV saves you $ no need to buy the ROKU stick. The picture is excellent if watching straight on. No great for a wide room or side watching. Mounting the TV on the wall is different than other brand the VESA holes used on these TCL TVs are different and makes the TV sit higher on your existing bracket so be aware of that. On a table the feet/stand are wide need space length wise to place on a table. I have much higher price TVs and these TCLs are really close in picture quality and the apps are outstanding. Great buy

This TV was an upgrade from a 32" 720P flat panel so there is a significant increase in satisfaction from my son with the tv being in his room. The picture is great and the sound as well but we did end up routing the sound through external speakers to make it better. The Roku function operates as normal if you are familiar with Roku. I am only giving it 4 stars because I have a Samsung TV that the HDR picture is actually better than this, so the 4 stars although indicates it a good TV, there is better out there.

I like the tv okay, but if you sit on the side a little instead of directly in front of it, the color is off/light. I don't like the ROKU remote for the TV. Changing channels with it isn't easy - no numbers on the remote. I preferred my old TCL TV which is basically the same without the ROKU built in. The remote was better but unable to use it on this TV. I have to use two remotes to change channels easily. If you don't mind the roku remote, it's okay.

Our first TCL TV and very satisfied with picture and sound quality. Built in ROKU especially convenient as we have Xfinity and can save on monthly box rental. We had ROKU Premier stick before but had to use 2 remotes. Now only 1 remote needed. We use this as bedroom TV and like the sleep timer available under options. Takes getting used to remote as not all Xfinity functions available but still convenient.

It’s a great TV! The picture is crisp and the colors are pretty vivid. Having the internet and Hulu, Netflix etc. all integrated into the menu is pretty awesome. The remote is nice and small simple to use. The speaker is eh but paired with a sound bar it’s excellent. The only thing I really don’t like is that there’s a light on the front that’s is bright and constantly on when the tv is off. I would recommend this to anyone it’s a solid TV for the price.

We are so happy to hear that you are enjoying your TCL Roku TV! You can actually turn off the little light on the front! If you follow these steps you should have no problems at all: Settings>System>Power>Standby LED>Off. Hope this helps!

I got this TV for my older dad for Father's day. Set-up was quick and easy and the picture quality is pretty darn good. One thing I don't like mostly for my elderly father is that when you turn the TV on it gives you too much to choose from, he comes from a time where you turn the TV on and you just get cable. He calls me almost everytime asking how to get rid of the red screen with all the options and how to get to Cable.

I noticed that when I first started the TCL TV was set to 'low power' in the TV settings, which gave a dark color and grainy video quality. However, I then put the setting to normal. Though this is a 4K TV, it is at the beginning of where 4K video quality begins, the video quality is a little grainy, even in 'normal' power mode. For the money however, it is a good buy.
