My actual rating would be 4.5 stars, but feeling generous... Great picture, sound is surprisingly clear for flat panel speakers, remote is responsive, lightweight - it's a great bedroom/second tv. The only big complaint is that a couple of times it's gotten hung up on startup and become unresponsive - it seems to be something to do with Google sign-in. Had to unplug it, but it started back up just fine. Only other minor complaint is that off-angle viewing is pretty bad, so it's best viewed straight-on

The tv was a great hit for my children as a Christmas gift. My son loves the quality when he plays his PlayStation 5. The picture quality is great, the colors are vivid and bright. I especially loved the price for the quality and size, this purchase was one I would recommend to everyone.

I have a house full of Sony Bravias utilizing the google platform, which I like. So when it came time to find a new TV for our bedroom, I wanted it to be a seamless integration but also not spend Sony money for a tv we use for 20 min a night. This fits the bill fine. For $229, the picture and sound quality are good enough. Easy to set up, low profile, decent amount of hdmi ports and optical out. I don’t think it would be very good for gaming or anything like that, but does have HDR. For an extra tv it’s fine.

I believe this is the best TV we have ever owned. We are not big audiophiles or videophiles, so we tend to shop for more budget-friendly TVs. This was on sale at Best Buy, and even though I didn't know much about TCL, we decided to give it a chance. I am so happy we did. Great picture, sound is adequate for our purposes. Easy to use, especially with the Google TV which allows you to "Favorite" channels, and moves them to the top of the channel guide. No scrolling through dozens of channels to find the ones you like. My wife likes how easy it is to use and the ease of using the remote. Great TV!

The TV is a great low cost option. I like the Google interface as much as the Roku, maybe more. The home page is a nice change and very simple to navigate through. Picture and sound quality are really good. Not premium but the price doesn't reflect premium. My only complaint, someone in production or packaging, put a bar code sticker on the screen. Upon trying to remove it, it left the glue residue. It couldn't be removed without using some type of abrasive cleaners. So I had to return the tv and get a new one. Just a annoying inconvenience.

Overall, I'm pleased with this set, but the black levels are inconsistent across the screen. This can be really noticeable and irritating in certain situations, especially if there's an all dark-gray feed. But for what you pay, the picture is otherwise great, the menus are snappy (most of the time), there's plenty of apps and Chromecast works well. The sound is well-articulated with good bass response. The remote could use some revising, such as making the volume rocker more distinguished and getting rid of extraneous buttons, but it's responsive.

I bought this TV for my sunroom and I'm going to eventually mount it on a swivel bracket. For the price the picture looks amazing and I love the Google operating system it's the perfect size for my 10x10 sunroom. The remotes easy to work, just wish it was backlit

Really like this TV. It's a great size with an excellent picture, my only wish is that the sound quality were better. I plan on upgrading my living room TV to one of these when the time comes, since I have a sound bar to fix that. Overall it's a great TV.

The TCL Smart TV is a great value. Found recommended picture settings online to help fine tune the picture for my room. 4K and HDR is nice for the streaming services that make use of it. The buttons on the remote are close together and the configuration was different than what I was used to, but have figured it out. Some kind of backlighting or extra identifiers on the buttons would have been nice. Overall a great purchase.

I recently purchased this 42-inch TCL TV and I'm very impressed with the picture quality. The colors are accurate and vibrant, and the TV is very bright. I've looked at other TVs in the same price range, and the picture quality on this TCL is superior. Overall, I'm very happy with this TV. Really great picture especially for the money. Sound is actually not too bad either. One complaint, viewing angle not so good but that seems about normal with this level set. Love the remote, lights up minute you move it.

Very decent screen for the cost. Nice and bright straight-on, but definitely fades quick on off-axis viewing. The speakers sound decent with the right surrounding surfaces, if maybe a little tinny to my ears.

Fantastic television. TCL does not disappoint. Super light, this thing weighs next to nothing. Picture quality is great for a bedroom or other smaller area that isn't overly bright. Setup was a breeze with Google TV. My other TCL is Roku and after buying this television, I prefer Google TV now.

You get a big bang for your buck with this TV. The picture and sound is perfect for what we needed. We love that its a smart TV and works seamlessly with YouTubeTV. This is the second TCL TV purchased and I'm very pleased. Our first TV is several years old (so old, its not smart) and still running like new. We simply purchased a google chromecast to make it a smart TV. I would recommend TCL any day of the week.
