Love my TCL
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love my TCL. Beautiful picture. It is easy to setup and change the settings. Roku platform lets you get all the apps you'd ever want. I can connect to my cable system through it's app and got rid of all the cable boxes saved $80 a month. I might even cut the cord. We'll see. Bought four TCLs all work perfectly. Connected wirelessly and works flawlessly. Price is awesome for the size. 4K or 1080P connects fine.

Great starter 4K TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed an extra TV and went out looking for a cheap 1080p TV but after reading specs and checking reviews i found that this TV was really well priced and purchased it. the TV looks great, it has built in ROKU so downloading apps onto the TV is easy. It has the option to add a USB to allow for you to rewind TV, it works great. It's really light as well. Only drawback is the sound is a little low but it's a solid 4k TV.

so much bang for the buck
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using Roku for about 6 years, and mine was dying. I had been looking at 4k TVs and I waited 4 months for this to come out. It was worth the wait. I subscribed to Netflix and added the 4k receiver from DirecTV to go along with this. The picture is AMAZING, even on the standard HD broadcasts. I am not a gamer and have not tested this out for that. You for sure need a soundbar. 4k content is stil hard to to find but there is the YouTube and a couple apps installed to help you./ Pro: setup is super simple. You can name the inputs and there are big icons. Works exactly like a Roku box, but one less thing to plug in. The picture on my locals on antenna is so much better than DirecTV (channel setup is in the main screen in setup) Remote is very simple Loving private listening the iPhone app works great when i cant find the remote cons i still hate the pre programmed hot buttons, let me choose! sound is a little off, can go high or low wish it had a swivel base the area to attach cables (HDMI and antenna) is hard to squeeze a cable into understand this will just get better, but this is so amazing

Excellent Picture. Great TV for streaming.
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking to replace a top of the line Panasonic Viera plasma TV , which many considered of "reference" quality, With a similar quality product. Since plasma tv had gone the way of the of the dinosaur, it looked like I'd have to spend big bucks to get close to the quality and performance I was used to. I looked at Samsung and LG and they all had decent pictures, but we're lacking the features I was looking for. The sales associate directed me to the TCL brand and said they were the "up and coming" tv company and I should check them out. I liked the fact that it's a Roku ready set, but since there's was no model on display, I was reluctant to take a chance. I'm glad I did. The HD picture is excellent. I was worried about the black level not being up to par, but with proper calibration and set up, there is excellent shadow detail , and space looks black, not gray. The overall picture is great. If you're not familiar with Roku, it the best streaming apparatus out there. There are so many free channels available, if you were thinking of " cutting the cord" , this would be the set to buy. I'm glad I purchased the TCL brand. It's a quality product at a decent price , With a superb picture.

Great for money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picture is clear. Roku was new to me but really easy to use. Really hard to believe a picture and color are so crisp and clear. For those buyers over 50 years old it is hard to believe a light weight 49 inch TV is so good for under $300

Decent entry level 4K TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Roku capabilities are very useful, remote is too basic with too few buttons need to use an app on a smartphone to have any capabilities. Picture quality is top notch coming from a regular HD set.

Best tv for price and size
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are questioning this tv and are the average person that doesn't read up on new electronics and reviews and asks who TCL is you won't be disappointed by this tv and company at all. So I did my homework before buying this tv and there is a reason this is the best tv for its size and price point. The picture is amazing and I hooked it up to my Dolby Atmos soundbar and have to remember I have neighbors because they pair perfectly and don't want to turn the surround sound off. The one thing I can tell you is to make sure that the SERIES NUMBER and model number matches. This company has different series numbers and there is a difference between them if so do your homework. Personally if you are questioning between this 5 series and the 4 series get this for these points: • Dolby Vision HDR • HDR Dynamic Contrast= brighter whites and darker blacks. • HDR PRO GAMMA helps keep the picture looking good in a room with the afternoon sun shining in or if it's in a theater room.

Get this TV.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I took forever trying to find a TV that I knew I would be happy with. It's fast, it has all the apps I want. The 5 series is the perfect one if you're looking to save about $100 in comparison to the 6 series. It comes with Dolby Sound and Dolby Picture. Love the HDR and the colors. It's light weight and looks nice. The Control isn't annoying, it's small and works well. The speakers are quite good only negative part is the missing audio output. But does have a 3.5mm output so I plugged it to my Soundbar and doesn't lag or anything. I'm satisfied 100%

Simplified my computer displays
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent to use as computer display. As IT pro for a long time my eyes started to wear out. I use this as monitor to replace two side by side 23 in full HD monitors. By using a monitor splitting app I could have 4 windows on screen. If I want full HD displays then I could have two HD side by side and have to smaller windows for other app to run. Or, if just use it as 4k display then you are treated with glorious desktop display good for those with diminishing eye sight. I set the monitor in game mode to achieve this. For TV and Roku, it works perfectly too. The color rendition is pleasing, skin tone is right on. The black level is good. There is some slight distortion when viewing at an angle but for my main use as computer display it is not an issue. This is a very good value for the money if it works for me 1 year with 8 hours daily use. Time will tell...

Awesome TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had my doubts about this tv since I’ve never been a fan of Roku TVs. I was wrong! This tv is great! The pictute quality is awesome, it’s easy to use and it has lots of bells and whistles. You won’t find another TV at this price range with Dolby Vision.

So easy to set up
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV was for our bedroom so we were not looking for a huge expense. This TV was a good price, was incredibly easy to set up, and has a great picture. I really like the Roku system as we already have a Roku stick for our main TV and were quite familiar with it.

Very good so far
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was going to get the better rated 6 series but read too many reviews about vertical banding and other possible distracting issues. I once returned a tv because of one missing pixel, so I don't want any defects that ruin even a superior set. This set has been clean, responsive, and has a decent and acceptable picture after proper calibration. I tried some 4k videos and they were very good especially for a $300 television. Don't expect the same images you'd get from a $ 1,000+ set but this tv won't disappoint you. The sound is not as tinny as some reviews I've read but you can add soundbar, listen through headphones, add external speakers through a receiver if you know how. I've always been a very big fan of Roku so having it built in is a huge plus. In summary, a good set especially for the small investment. How long it lasts is anyone's guess, of course.

Good enough for a bedroom, GREAT price.
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We moved to a new place. Our main TV room is not to our liking so we decided to purchase a TV for our bedroom. Normally, I go for the top of the line technology when I purchase Tv's. However, since this was only going in our bedroom, I decided to go a more budget friendly model. I have to saw that I'm quite surprised at the quality of picture and ease of setup. The TV's network card is simple to connect and quickly finds and connects to home network. The picture will not amaze you like the TV's in the Best Buy Magnolia section, but for $250, I'm not complaining at all. It is still high definition. You can still choose from dark to light. The sound quality is very good for a TV at this price point. As long as you aren't purchasing this TV as a videophile, I think you'll be pleased.

Good TV with Roku
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best thing about this TV is having the Roku built in. The picture is quite good for this price range. Color is excellent and black level is very good. Speakers are tiny and facing downward which makes it hard to hear dialogue at times. The tv supports ARC and works well with a soundbar. The remote control is a basic IR Roku remote. It does not have voice control or a headphone jack. You can buy an enhanced RF remote from Roku that has voice control for $30.

While a solid TV, I had an issue with it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very thin & sleek TV, the picture looked good, the HDR was better than the 4 Series, etc., but the problem I had was that there was light bleed all along the edges. I'm not entirely sure if this is common for edge-lit televisions, but I found it too distracting at times. In addition, this TV gets very hot on the bottom bezel. I liked the 2018 5 Series design more than the 2019 5 Series, so I ended up getting it instead. It was also a tad bit cheaper. In the end, though, I ended up returning it & opting for the 2019 6 Series, which was a more expensive television at twice the price, but it offered a lot of value for the money. If you can find the 2018 5 Series without the light bleed along the edges, it's a great TV for little money.

Great picture, especially for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ll be honest, I was a little skeptical about TCL. However after my best friend picked up a 65” 4 Series and praised it to high heaven, I decided to look into it. After ample research, I decided to give TCL a try. I went with the 49” 5 Series and couldn’t be happier. After some adjustments, the picture looks like it belongs on a much higher-end television. The HDR is also incredible. My only gripe is that there is a bit of a ‘halo effect’ around the edges when lighter colors are being displayed. One has to keep in mind that it is a $350 4K TV, though, so there will be small compromises. But trust me, the compromises with this set are very minimal and never outweigh the pros.

Great TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV to replace one that the sound went out. It was a name brand and a lot more expensive then this one. This TV is the best I have ever owned. It is great for my gaming console. Plenty of HDMI connects. I do wish it had av out for my kids wii. It was easy set up. I love it. Next time will buy a slightly bigger one but it is a great size for the apartment I have. Only complaint I could think of is it was not as easy to mount to the wall. Brakets didnt fit the mount I had. Not a huge deal but its the only complaint I could think of.

Worth the low cost ;)
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What can you say about these TCL TVs more than, they’re great! The OS is easy to use and understand. My elderly father-in-law has figured out how to use it even though he struggles with other electronics. This model works quickly enough to not have you guessing as to whether or not it registered your input. Roku offers all the channels we need, has excellent audio and image quality, and even has an app to use as a remote on your phone. I’ve used this and other sized TCL TVs in bright–outdoor, even–and dark environments. It excels in both.
