i was not real sure about this tv as i did not here the brand before. but let me tell you. I LOVE IT. the picture is fantastic. very easy to setup. and ROKU feature is fantastic. when my cable box died from a storm i was still able to watch all my programs as the roku has xfinity stream app already on it. so you could use this tv without a cable box and save a little each month. you still have access to all channels from your house internet. as well as on demand and recorded shows. just be warned as it uses internet date to stream. so you have to watch your usage. i am going to by the 65" ultra 4k for the living room soon.

I got this TV as a temporary fix for the ultimate demise of my larger DLP living room unit, with plans to eventually use it to replace my not so great bedroom unit. It is perfect for that. I didn't give it 5 stars because this TV was never built to achieve for 5 stars. Nothing will blow you away, unless you're coming from something smaller and 720/1080p. The 4K looks as it should when viewing a 4K video. Color is good. There is a little back-light bleed around the outer screen edges, but it's by no means a deal-breaker for the cost. I can't speak for the wifi connectivity, as I am actually using a higher quality ROKU unit externally.

I was looking for an inexpensive tv for our downstairs. I looked at several 49-50” TVs. The name brands were more expensive than the not so well known ones. Then I noticed the TCL 49”. Not a brand I was familiar with, but it had HDR and Dolby Vision. So I researched TCL and was satisfied that they were a good manufacturer. The price was good, so I bought one. Set-up was easy, the picture was excellent, and the ROKU interface is intuitive and robust. No problems, it is a very good HDTV. So good, that it may switch places with the Samsung upstairs.

This TV has amazing colors, deep rich black sand is very dynamic. It is easy to set up and use and just a great overall value compared to other name brands who stick it to you for name brand's sake. This is a practical value with a superior product.the only drawback was that it did not work with the first simple TV mount that I purchased that I II amount did work. There is a large protrusion on the back of the unit that holds some of the electronic components and this prevented the straight-arm mounting design of the first TV mount that I purchased.

I now own two TCL tvs, one as a guest bedroom tv and this 49" that I have on my outdoor patio. I diligently researched and viewed all of the cheap TVs (because it was for outdoor use) and I am a firm believer that TCL has hit the nail on the head with their value. TCL has the best picture of the cheap tv's and it is extremely nice having the built-in roku. I was actually at restaurant/bar at the Toyota music factory recently and was watching their tvs and was impressed with the picture of them, sure enough, they were TCLs.

This was the first time I've purchased from Best Buy online and had it shipped to my house. It came damage-free and was an easy setup. I got it to compliment my XBox One and it looks and works great. As an added bonus, I use the TV as my monitor for my laptop along with a wireless mouse and keyboard. I spend a lot of time on my laptop proofreading and editing manuscripts for indie authors and at 65 years of age, I appreciate being able to easily read and write as I am doing now online. I highly recommend this model and would purchase it again if need be.

    Best Gaming TV EVER!

Since I do not have a social life my TV is SUPER important to me. (Dorky I know) I am big into gaming, so it's also SUPER important that the TV performs well for fast action. I upgraded because I wanted to be able to take advantage of HDR. My old TV was only "HDR compatible", which does not make the picture any better. This TV is the obvious choice for me given it has Dolby Vision HDR and everyone reviews the TV well for gaming. I am very happy across the board. HDR performance is amazing and I cannot see any lag. (Even during times with HEAVY movement) @ $399.99 I think it is going to be hard to beat this type of picture quality. Happy customer TCL!

I bought this TV mainly because it is one of the few that has a headphone jack. Why ALL TVs don’t have this feature is beyond me. It also has Roku built in. The TV is very good. I do NOT have cable and use a roof antenna and stream content. Sometimes, the TV shows nothing but a chopped up green screen and must be rebooted. Not a big deal just an inconvenience. I’m also not a fan of not being able to turn off the TV. It’s kind of on a stand-by mode.

I wanted to get into 4K and UHD, but live in a tiny Studio Apartment. I wanted a nice big 55" or bigger TV but just don't have the space. I found this treasure at Best Buy and was so happy! Included with both HDR 10 and the Superior Dolby Vision, this TV fit all the needs I had. Terrific quality, slightly smaller and boy Oh Boy those 4K BluRay discs look amazing played through this TV. I am now a big fan of TCL. I'd buy this brand again! They even make a smaller 32" to fit in the bedroom. I love this TV!

The tv is slightly smaller than we're used to, but the picture quality is amazing, especially for the price! It would be nice if it came in a larger size, but it was still a good buy at a good price. It was strange that the remote control that came with it had batteries that died the second day we bought it, but batteries are not expensive, so just stock up a little before you bring it home, or download the Roku app to your phone.

TCL has put together a great TV for the price. Set-up, updates and syncing with other devices a breeze. The controller’s side volume control and simplicity took some getting use to. But navigation & setting screens very easy to use. Picture quality is excellent with vibrant color and sharp contrast. Good selection of apps with all the popular ones available. Switching between sources (UHD Player, cable box, PS4) a breeze with tile themed home screen. TLC, I’m impressed!

I have watched this brand tv grow over the last few years ... I wanted to try it next time i needed to buy .... I got this series 5 for the bedroom ... I am very pleased so far about 3 weeks into it ... It really converted the crappy signal from the dish 2 tv tuner to look like it should have on my other 1080 lcd ... Watched the latest Transformers movie and it was really an amazing picture , I believe it was streaming 4 k ... so far thats the only 4k i've seen on it and it was awesome ! Takes a little whie using it to find your way around the menus, but after a few days watching i have it all figured out ... I was able Customized the power on straight to the dish channel for my wife and have the dish remote power it on and off and volume ... i was able to format the picture for the cable box uhf signal independently form the other inputs . The picture settings are separate for each input as well ... that's really a cool feature... Also the sound is plenty good for a led , not transistor radio sounding like some ... I'm big into having surround sound and some powered sub woofers, but for the bedroom its just fine like it is , unless your really into Tv sound , you wont need a soundbar at all for a bedroom ... I'm really happy with it !

This tv has great picture quality with good HDR performance. The colors are rich and deep the detail in the image is great and the HDR is good. The built-in speakers are serviceable so you would want a soundbar the only drawback to this is HDMI arc has very low volume levels (which will hopefully be addressed in a firmware update. The general build quality of the TV set is good and the design is sleek and modern. This is the first time buying a TCL product and so far so good and I'm impressed.

Amazing TV for the price point! The 4k HDR is great (come in dark, normal and light HDR modes), especially for video games. The Dolby Vision looks stunning on many of my favorite Netflix shows. My PS4 Pro looks stunning when it switches to 4k or HDR mode, and my Xbox one S looks amazing as well. Basic sound quality is what you would expect, but you can make it great with a few in menu tweaks. Plus you cant beat the integrated roku.

I originally bought the 43 inch 5 series before Christmas and being elite plus, I had 45 days plus the bonus return period for xmas. The tv looked great dead center but there were a few issues that I needed to come to terms with on if I'd be able to live with or not. The remote seemed to have a lot of response lag. The picture quality at an angle was decent till about 45 degrees and then it dropped off tremendously. Lastly, we watch Netflix a lot and the Dolby vision programming seemed to change the brightness on its own depending on the scene and how light or dark it was. I googled it and found several blogs; some back more than 6 months about a bug related to the TCL and Netflix Dolby vision programming. It was an annoying distraction so I returned the tv at the end of my 45 days. This tv is for a secondary room and with all my research and the lower budget, the tcl 5 series was still my best option. I purchased the 49 inch 5 series on sale for $350 and with the $125 in reward certificates, it made this an even better purchase. I haven't noticed any remote lag. The picture actually looks pretty good at an angle up to 60 degrees off dead center and then it degrades some. This is interesting; I tested the Netflix Dolby vision issue with the Marvel Defenders and season 2 of Stranger Things and haven't noticed the automatic brightness change at all. For being different size of the same tv, it somewhat feels like a completely different brand. I can't explain the difference. Part of me wonders if there might be some QC issues on the assembly line in production. Either way, I think I got a heck of a good 4k tv for around $225 after using my reward certs.

I went shopping for a TV for my Fiancee, who had given me her choices of 2 brands. however, due to Black Friday sales volumes, they were sold out. I discussed this with a knowledgable salesperson at the store, and he suggested the TCL model. I installed the TV, my Fiancee looked up the reviews on the TCL, and was pleased with what she read. We are pleased with the performance of this smart TV. It is a good value for the cost.

I have purchased several TCL TVs over the past year. I have been purchasing them for use in Airbnb’s that have high speed internet but no cable/antenna service. The integrated Roku and the price point is what drew me to them which are great. However the picture, GUI, and overall quality has since also impressed me. Makes me question why I am paying so much for high series TVs from other manufactures in my own home.

Great bang-for-buck TV that supports HDR, Dolby Vision in 4K. The interface is simple to use but I do have issue with connectivity at times; It's as if it knows when I'm about to sit down to watch a movie with food that it decides to disconnect from the internet. Other than that annoyance, the picture could be a little brighter. Having said that, for the price I think it's a great performer!
