Love my TV

I called four times speaking with people who couldn’t help me and just told me I had to drive clear out to Bellevue again which I didn’t have a chance so I ended up getting a remote off Amazon after five days I was able to watch my new TV

Good display, but questionable Wi-Fi capability...

The Google TV operating system is snappy and easy to use. The TV itself is slim and easy to setup. The remote is nice. Cons: While advertised as dual-band, for some reason, my TV has not been able to pick up on my 5Ghz Wi-Fi band, even though all my other devices (cell phones, iPad, laptops, and Fire TV stick) are able to detect and connect to the signal. I've tried restarting everything, including my router, but still the TV only detects the 2.4Ghz band. Manually inputting the SSID/password of my 5Ghz band does nothing. The TV screen has a shiny surface so glare produced by outdoor light or even an lamp in the evening is bad. I believe the 50" has a VA screen, so the viewing angle is not great. You pretty much have to watch the TV straight on to not have the color and contrast altered in your viewing experience.

I noticed some issues with color saturation and pixelation. This was a darker scene that had a black light in the scene. I ended up putting the screen in “game mode” for a better refresh rate. Man, for a 300 TV I was really impressed. I’ve never bought a TCL. I’ve had a Pioneer Elite plasma. LG 3D tv. Sony Bravia series. Samsung OLED. It’s not a premium tv but I’d buy another one.

Good TV but Damaged.

Best Buy, on the other hand was not so lovable! Salesperson mentioned, as he was putting tv into car to drive careful because Best Buy does not replace physically damaged tvs, and then walked away. Made us skeptical! What’s to say the tv wasn’t already damaged in the box? Kind of like he knew something was wrong. We almost chased him down, but decided to take our chances. Upon removing the tape from around the screen, the bottom strip was detached from the glass. It doesn’t affect the picture and you can only notice it up close, so, something I guess we will have to live with, since we were heeded that warning! Not sure if it was a manufacturer defect, or a Best Buy blunder, but not so happy with this purchase! Even if we would have inspected it in the store, it was unnoticeable until the tape was removed. Probably won’t be shopping with this store again!
