Do yourself a favor and so not purchase this
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Crashes constantly. Warranty process is impossible to navigate. Avoid at all costs. If you want to validate this claim, just try to start a warranty claim on TCL's website. There are very few links to the actual claim form, and none of those links work. Either they're dead links or don't have a TV option.

Art on your wall
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Build: Having a all white TV is sort of refreshing in a world of black and grey TVs. It looks so clean and sort of reminds me of the original Google TV from years ago. But as I got a closer look I noticed the overall build quality is all there. Mine had a yellow stain or maybe a burn mark on the back. There is a noticeable small gap around the screen and the main frame. When I was cleaning off the tape residue on the screen I noticed the screen flexes really easily, especially around the outside and corners. And the little receiver on the bottom of mine had a crack in it. Also the AAA batteries they sent for the remote didnt work so I had to replace with some spares I had laying around. Not a great first impression. Wall Mount: The TV doesn't come with any legs but it does have the screw holes for legs incase you wanted to add them. Or buy the art easel stand (sold separately) thats made specifically for it. Since this is meant to be hung on the wall like a picture it comes with its own ultra slim mount in the box. I have a love hate relationship with this wall mount. It works well but I feel like it could have been designed a little better. There is two separate wall plates and each one requires four screws. So instead of the typical wall mount were you put 4 holes in your wall, this one requires you to put 8 holes in your wall. The wall plate does have a lot of play in it for adjustments. TCL also includes a paper template to help which you will definitely want to use. Just make sure its straight before you drill. As for the two brackets that go on the back of the TV they do not have any play so they need to precisely line up with the wall plates. What I don't like about them is that they are only kept in with one screw in each bracket. So in the end the weak point here is that this thing is being held up on your wall with two screws! Would like to have seen two screws per bracket or maybe thicker screws which would have made me have a little more trust in this mount. But in the end it looks really good and sits flush with your wall. Frame: The main TV bezel is all white and if you like the look you don't have to use the included frame. But I suspect most will use it. The one it comes with is made of metal but designed to look like wood. Its a nice light brown color that gives a modern look. It attaches via magnets. I had no issues lining up the magnetic frame. Make sure to put the top/bottom on first and then the sides last as thats the way its fits. The bottom frame can be screwed on with two screws. Just don't tighten them too much or the frame will bow out. That happen to me so I had to loosen them up a bit to fix. I don't see a need for the screws as the magnets seemed strong enough but I added them anyway just in case. In the end it does truly look like a big picture frame hanging from the wall. Screen: The panel is a direct-lit QLED LCD with a matte finish. I'm used to glossy TVs so this was a big change for me. The matte display helped a ton in my bedroom where there is a lot of windows. My previous TV was very glossy and unless the shades were down there was no escaping the glare. You can still see a little glare when its off but when on I don't notice it at all. Even with all shades up. Not gonna lie, with the matte display and frame installed it looks stunning on the wall. Picture: There is a few different picture profiles you can use but none of them looked right to me but thats an easy fix. I believe it comes in energy saver profile which seemed a bit dark for my room. I would say use either Movie or Vivid as a starting point and adjust from there. I made some minor adjustments to the colors/temp/backlight but once I did everything looked fantastic. After adjustments the colors are vibrant and a lot more accurate. But I feel like the blacks are still lacking. Watched movies, sports, news, etc and everything looks good. It doesn't get extremely bright like some newer TVs. It gets bright enough when turned up but don't expect it to do well with HDR. Also that brings up another point, there is no local dimming on this set either so it doesn't handle dark scenes as well as TVs with local dimming. Sound: The speakers in this thing are pretty lacking but its what you would expect out of a TV this thin. I found changing the sound profile from dynamic to one of the others helped a little. If you are going to be using one of these in a large room or as your main display you are going to want to pair with external speakers. Google TV: This set comes with Google TV which is my personal favorite smart TV platform. With that you get a very large variety of supported apps and Google Assistant built in. Not sure what processor this has in it but Google TV on this thing is snappy! As you would expect its not completely stock though. TCL had added some apps that you cant remove including a TCL menu option on the main home screen. All my apps were available and installed quickly. Most of my viewing is online streaming and all apps worked flawlessly over wifi. Note wifi compatibility on this set only goes up to wifi 5. There is no wifi 6/6e/7 support. Art Mode: Since this is a frame TV there is a lot of pre-loaded art of different types. Some of its animated and others still images. You can have it play music in the background as well and even add a frame to the display if you want. The virtual frames can be customized; texture, color, thickness. You can also use AI to create art but its limited to only certain subjects so you cant get too creative with it. If you like what it creates for you can save it off. There is also a button on the remote to get right into art mode. I appreciate TCL doesn't charge a subscription fee for this functionality like some do. Summary: This is a really cool TV from TCL and I like to see they are offering some competition to the other companies making similar products. What I would like to see in the next gen is better build quality and local dimming. What it really comes down to is you make a few picture sacrifices in order to have a TV that looks beautiful on your wall. You will need to make a decision as to what's more important to you.

Nice Upgrade - Love the NXTFrame design
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In the box is the 55 inch TV with included power cord, mount (screws with plastic anchors, mount with mounting instructions), white remote control with batteries, magnetic frame attachment, instruction manual and TCL extras. First Impression - This is my first TCL product in my home. The TV is really thin, still a little heavy (due to the size), loving the included mount (although it looks like it will be a little complicated) and I am glad that there are 4 HDMIs for my additional add-on (BluRay Player, Game Console(s)) Ethernet slot and the additional slots are in the middle of the back of the TV. Mounting - please note that this particular smart TV is mountable only and it does include the mount. This is not your typical mount as it is in four small pieces instead of the three piece with the one big plate that takes over your wall. There is an added mount assistant paper that you can use a thumbtack to hold in place that will show you exactly where to put the screws and the mount for the wall. There are white screws that are already in the back of the TV and I ended up using those instead of the included black screws. (Side note, the black screws that the instructions say to use are little long and I didn’t want to take the chance of the screw going to deep and messing up anything.) There are also mount holes on the back of the tv on both sides at the bottom of the TV if you want to use a different mount as well. After putting the included mount, I must say, the TV looks so much better as the TV is flush with the wall. It really looks like a picture frame sitting on the wall instead of a bulky TV. Setup - Because I already own multiple google smart TVs, setup was extremely easy. I added the TV to my Google Home app and connected to the internet, signed in with my google account and just like that, my already downloaded apps were there, I checked the ones I wanted and allowed the TV to set itself up. Once you log in, the TV will ask if you want to set up multiple accounts. Then you set up the TCL account and you are on the Home Screen. I have a lot of apps, so the set up did take a minute but once everything was loaded, I was back to my familiar Home Screen. Blu-ray player - I plugged in the blu-ray player and the TV automatically switched over to the blu-ray and began to play the movie. I chose Rio because of the beautiful colors and this TV did not disappoint. I couldn’t find the remote when I plugged in the Blu-Ray player to the TV but I was able to use the TV remote to press play. Xbox - After plugging in the XBox, there was an immediate disclaimer that discussed game mode and the different features and how to turn them on and off. The feature that was pretty cool was the aiming aid which places an aim circle (reticle) on the TV and the reticle was pretty large in size that was placed in the center of the TV and it was accurate. (The games played were Call of Duty and Fortnite.) The other features for the game mode are high frame rate mode, shadow enhancement and game picture mode. The picture quality is really good and we haven’t had a console in the family room in a while. Side note - there is a Game Master setting in the settings screen that says it is only available when the device is connected to the HDMI port. AI Art - There is a button at the top left of the remote that activates this setting. This is a setting that is definitely new to me. I normally just use the screensaver setting when you TV is idle from Google that plays automatically. There are different set of different air and my daughter and I like the ambient sound and the digital clock with the koi fish. There is one that is a picture window looking at the mountains with a desk at the window with flowers. The music sounds like the animated movie about the moving castle. There is also an ambient mode setting the setting that will allow you to choose between google photos or the Art AI. Overall, I am in love with this smart TV and I can honestly say I learn something new everyday. So far, there are really no cons for this I would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Better than Samsung
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a small Samsung Frame in my bedroom but I didn’t want to break the bank on a bigger version for the living room. I love this TCL so much better than the Samsung! All the art on this one is free and so much of it! And it has all the other goodies you expect from a smart TV. Meanwhile, Samsung’s been deleting the free art that was there when i bought the TV! I love the whitewashed magnetic frame that comes with the TV! Also unlike Samsung... I love the white remote and the whole thing is just elegance. I still can’t believe the price point! Best decision ever. Also, when I changed the art on the TCL, my teen got home and proclaimed his disappointment that I returned the TV :D He really thought it was a painting!
