I tried to be cheap and save some cash by purchasing the less expensive TV - lesson learned! You get what you pay for. 3 weeks in and the screen is scrambled. The remote is non-responsive. Don’t waste your money!

I was loving this TV -- Roku makes for easy "smartTV" ... and then ... 1-1/2 years, 18 months, later -- the picture goes POOF ... just all green and white stripes... on ALL inputs...

DO NOT BUY A TCL

We had this TV for 35 days before it spontaneously cracked. A screw must have been too tight and the screen got too hot because a crack formed and now the TV will not work. There is no physical damage to the TV, it is a manufacturers defect and the manufacturer refuses to replace it. Just avoid a headache and a loss of several hundred dollars and buy a different brand. 10%-15% of these TV's do this. It's not worth it.

Hi Alyssa,
We’re sorry to hear that you're having issues with your TV. However, in looking at the pictures that you have attached, the panel appears to be cracked with an impact point on the front of the TV in the lower left side, and therefore would not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty. You can visit https://www.tclusa.com/support/warranty to find more information on our warranty requirements and limitations. If you would like us to review your case, please reach out to us at [email protected]. However, typically with situations like this, we encourage you to check with the retailer you purchased from to see if they cover this type of issue with the TV. Additionally, if you purchased an extended warranty, you may want to reach out to see if you can file a warranty claim through the extended warranty. Hope this helps!
Thank you,

I was upgrading from an older 42" LCD from 2011 and I'm very happy I did. My primary uses are streaming video, console gaming, and some sports.
Pros: The 4K is stunning, game mode works great for PS4 and Switch, the HDR works well enough, the built-in Roku is very convenient, 55" is a great size for a small/medium sized living room, great value for the price!
Cons: included remote is IR only (my soundbar blocks the IR receiver when using the included TV legs), TV only gets moderately bright at highest settings, display has some minor "dirty screen effect" (DSE) only noticable when most of the screen is the same shade of gray or other darker colors (this is common in LCD panels and I decided that mine was certainly tolerable)

Great Value 4K TV

I did a lot of research since I was looking to upgrade my primary TV to 4K. This TV is a great value with a lot of nice features. I watch mainly movies and tv so I can't attest to gaming performance.
Pros:
Value- Under $500 for a 4K tv with: HDR, Dolby Vision, and WCG is a great deal.
Picture Quality- Both standard HD and UHD content on this display and both are sharp, Dolby Vision content looks especially great. The picture settings (especially the HDR mode) needed slight adjustment but this is very easy to do.
Roku - Interface is easy to use although I mainly use Apple TV 4K for streaming so I can't attest to performance.
Design- For a budget TV, this model has nice metal finishes (an upgrade from the plastic on my old Vizio) and its a very thin display at the top giving it a nice look. Stand is solid and elevates the tv nicely.
Cons:
Bleeding - As some other reviews have noted, there is some light bleeding on this tv. It's not super noticeable unless you are looking for it. Mine mainly happens in the bottom left corner and seems to be especially visible with HD, not 4K content. Overall, its not that noticeable and, for me, not worth the $100+ upgrade to the TCL 6 series or other more expensive model.
Remote - The Roku remote is fine, I found it a bit small but its a personal preference I suppose. No microphone and no headphone jack.
Overall, the picture quality of this tv is going to be a notch below a top tier set but there is also a substantial difference in price. So if you want solid picture quality at a solid price, this is a tv to strongly consider.

TCL has really changed the game. Was in toss up between the 5 series and 6 series. Only difference in the 2 is the 6 has "local dimming zones" while the 5 series has Full Array Local Dimming, or "FALD" is what the techies say. I bought 2 of these. The first one I purchased had a light bleed in the 4 corners. Not bad but just enough to tick me off. So I returned it and couldn't be any happier! This tv has a Strong Detailed picture. Very clear. Very immersive. With all the perks that come with this TV, including HDR, Dolby Visual and Sound, superior contrast, and a price point under 700$ (I paid 420 for this set) this TV competes with all "high end" devices.. TCL is here to stay. And as a life long LG guy, I'll be more than happy to save the money and make the switch! Buy this TV.. If you're reading this review, you are already thinking about it!

I was skeptical in purchasing the TLC brand tv. After reading some reviews, and viewing the in-store display, I decided to purchase this tv as my video game tv in my game room. The picture, features, and apps are awesome! The price point is also great! The Roku is great as well. I highly recommend this television. I recently purchased a 65 inch Samsung QLED tv for my living room and paid 3 times more money. I wish I would have looked at the TLC first, just because of price.
