The TV was purchased brand new and after just 4 days, the screen will not show pictures and turns off on its own. It I hit the Direct TV button I can hear, but after a couple minutes, the TV shuts off. This is my 2nd TCL TV purchase. Why do I keep buying TCLs and even years later why would I still buy one? The price point is everything! Why spend $2,000 on a TV that in the next 1-2 years there will be better technology. We're at a point now, were 8K TVs are appearing, but there isn't enough content to justify buying one for $3,000 plus. I'm not mad at replacing or upgrading a $350 TV, but a 3 grand one is a major L. A $350 TV with newer technology will more than likely be better looking than something someone bought for a lot of money 2 years ago. Overall, the picture is very good. The HDR/4K stands out and makes the picture look beautiful. This is not a TV that will do well in a room where there is a lot of lighting. Mine is kept away from any exposure to the sun. Nonetheless, if there is a light source reflecting on the TV screen it will be difficult to view. An example would be a closed blind during the day time where there is light. It also depends on the angle. If the light source is directly behind or in front of you, it will show on the TV, but if off to the side, you can't see it. I stay true to the brand, b.c the prices are reasonable and also b.c I like the Roku platform. I've had a couple friends purchase them and they have been satisfied also. A lot of other TVs from more well known brands have come down in price, but I really like the User interface of Roku. It's so easy to use and to be able to download other apps is great. Additionally, I've owned other flat screens. Samsung TCL and Sharp. I've had friends that have had TVs go out on Samsung and Vizios, so I don't think name brand is necessarily the answer. And if you are a gamer, this is a good gaming television. There are some frame rate issues if I watch a scene with a lot of fast movement, but it's not to the point where I care too much or makes me dislike the TV.

The TV quality is good. For the price in 2018, it was a pretty crazy good deal. A couple of stuff I like to mention is the HDR brightness which was not that bad for the price, but the actual motion and contrast are very good. However, when you play with XBOX dark games such as RDR2 you will notice that it could be brighter (of course for money). Aside from that from angles picture looks a bit whiter than directly looking at the screen. Other than that, the overall quality is very good. Ports are satisfying (3.5 mm). Having Bluetooth could be a big plus which this doesn't have. And also, after a couple of years, they released an update to support Apple Airplay for screen mirroring the Apple devices which are awesome (credit goes to Roku TV of course).

I bought this as a present for my dad this Xmas since I got my mom a LG 43" 4k tv last year I figured it was time to upgrade his 2010 Samsung 46" 1080p tv. I wanted a 4k 55" tv that had HDR10+ or Dolby Vision or both. This is a 4k/60p screen that is 12bit and comes with Dolby Vision which even my very expensive Sony Bravia 4k tv can't do. Plenty of smart features and apps as well as lots of connections. Personally I like to have 4 HDMI ports but 3 ports for my dad should be enough. Speakers are pretty much standard sounding for this price range. I really want to get my Xbox One X hooked up to this thing so I can really push the frame rate and Dolby Vision. Even tho Red Dead Redemption 2's HDR is broke I still have a feeling this TV will look amazing. This TCL and my other cheap 4k LG TV both look better with regular cable TV picture then my Sony Bravia does but in a true 4k/60 video I still think my 2017 Bravia takes it but it's a 43" that was twice the price of this 55" 4k tv.

I have had Plasma TVs for the last 10 years, because i like great contrast and black, blacks. The LCD and LED TVs of that vintage, had neither, but alas, the day of the Plasma is long gone. I still have two in my house, but finished my basement and needed a TV for it. I did some research and found that the TCL Series 6 was very highly rated. I was looking at it ans saw that the Series 5 was almost 1/2 the cost. Back to internet research and found that for my usage, not gaming or Blue Ray playing, the Series 5 was just as good. I bought the Series 5 and brought it home and set it up under my best Plasma, the comparison was eye opening. Blacks just as black, contract just as good and colors brighter and more vivid. I would recommend this TV to anyone! One other advantage, it weighs less than 1/2 of the weight of the Plasma, much easier to get into my basement.

I have to start by saying that the receiver for the antenna is the best I've seen. I wasn't able to find any useful information on over-the-air (OTA) performance so I was apprehensive but have been pleasantly surprised at how well it handles the weak signals in my area. While other receivers are intermittent and pixelating, this TV is rock solid. Of course at some point any receiver will flake out, this one gives me the edge on OTA reception. I love the image quality, sharp and vivid colors. The Roku navigation is great. It's nice to have such simple remote and be able to accomplish everything without all the buttons. The viewing angle is somewhat narrow but that's not an issue for me but I thought I should mention it.

Couldn’t be happier with the picture quality and ease of use. Very acceptable price. My only complaint would be the remote. Volume control on side interferes with using the main controls. Hard to hold it without touching volume controls because of small size.

I had no previous experience with the TCL brand but like any other person I saw the size and features at a low price and decided to give it a shot. I am glad that I did. This television is a fantastic value. The picture quality is rich, the HDR is acceptable, and the user interface is refreshingly simplistic. For anyone who has ever used Roku, this television is an easy sell, for everyone else I can only say that it is very minimalistic and stream-lined which in turn makes it very quick and responsive, something my other two smart TV lack, despite being major name brands, LG and SONY. I will definitely look into purchasing another TCL the next time I replace a television.

I been wanting a newer bigger TV for my bedroom at first we came in to Best Buy just to look around but when I saw this TV on display and how vivid the colors are and how thin it is I decided to buy it I will say that we do have the TCL 65in 6 series in the living room and we are very happy with it (so that was a plus) but did not want to spend that much again on a TV for the bedroom. We have been having this TV for 2 weeks and are very happy with it with our first experience with TCL being our 65in 6series which we love and now this one I wil say TCL really coming on up making awesome TVs at a reasonable price. I love how they have Roku TV integrated so much simpler to use the kids know how to use it along with awesome picture quality, it’s really like a high end TV experience but at a great price. We can say that we are TCL fans for life!!!

This is an excellent sub-$500 4k tv. Roku is a great platform for tvs, it has the features I was looking for (dolby atmos, hdmi cec, hdmi arc), the up-scaling looks pretty good, and blacks looks pretty nice. Three main gripes. The built in speakers are average at best but I use a soundbar anyway. The biggest issue I have is you'll have pretty significant light bleed in the corners of the screen anytime things are dark. I notice it mostly in 4k hdr movies. Bias lighting for your tv helps a bit but it's something inherent with this type of screen. Last, the roku remote sucks. You can find some pretty good universal remotes on amazon and I recommend it. I got this tv on sale on black friday and I don't regret it one bit. Should last me a long time. Great for the budget.

When I bought this, I was looking at a particularly tight budget with a lot of considerations. First and foremost I needed HDR and especially Dolby Vision. Combine that with needing a wide color gamut and there are few TVs under $600 that meet the qualifications. This TV fits the bill perfectly and out performs anything else in the price range. It doesn’t get as bright as some others but it has the wide color gamut and Dolby Vision which is hard to find in the price range. The speakers aren’t very good but that’s a non issue for me as we have a nice soundbar as well. We mainly use appletv but the Roku interface is nice if that’s what you’re used to. I wish it had at least one more hdmi input but that’s a minor gripe. Overall great buy! Recommend highly!

I actually bought a 55" LG 4k tv for $200 more than the TCL but returned it because I felt the picture was too dark and the TV was not very user friendly The Salesman at Best Buy showed me the TCL 55" and I love the brightness of the picture and the TV is easy to switch between all my devices. It's nice to be able to go to Netflix and Amazon Prime without switching to my computer but the rest of the channels are like most smart TVs, pretty useless. I had a little trouble with my cable box when first hooked up but the companies customer support is excellent..

I bought the tv online and picked it up from my store on my own time. In complete honesty, I love it. It's so big, not too heavy, and really thin. The picture on the tv is amazing, bright, colorful, and vivid. The tv can be personalized as well. With the Roku software already installed into the tv, you can select what channels you want on your home page (Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Amazon Prime, Spike, etc.) you can also change brightness, picture preference (theater, vivid, enhanced, etc) and sound (speech, theater, music, big bass, etc.) The 4k is awesome aswell. Sound quality is awesome, nothing spectacular (get separate sound system if youre THAT picky on sound quality.)

Bought this TV as an upgrade from a 50” Black Friday Walmart special. The picture is amazing! I thought our old tv was great but this tv blew it out of the water! The upscaling is flawless and the high speed motion refresh works like a champ! No need for a UHD Blu-Ray player. This tv gives uhd quality without it. The Roku interface is great and easy to use. I’m a graphic artist so I am a Mac guy. We had an Apple TV before. However, with the roku interface, it’s much simpler to get to your favorite apps. I only gave 4 stars because the remote could be a little more responsive. You will not be disappointed with this TV and at a great price too!
