After much research, I decided on the TCL for a great value purchase. And it was! Unfortunately, no one could help me with one simple issue....the fact that the tv would turn itself off after about 4 hours and occasionally 15 minutes. Best Buy reps didn't have a clue what the issue was. Initial TCL customer service rep gave me the ole "let's reset the tv to original factory settings", which didn't resolve the issue. Customer reviews having similar issues commented that the tv was over heating or the mother board was fried. Finally, after several days of further inquiry, a TCL rep got back to me and suggested I go into Settings and uncheck the setting to turn itself off after 4 hours and also to uncheck the power saver setting after 15 minutes. Well by then it was too late because I had already returned the tv for fear it would explode. Other than that issue, the tv worked great. Bright, clear, colorful picture, sound was good, Roku was easy to set up and use. It was a great tv for the price. I would recommend it. So back to my initial point....TV's today are so high tech that the folks selling them and trouble shooting have NO idea how to fix simple issues. But they all can show you a spec sheet with a hundred items that make the tv a fabulous buy. Right!!

I have had this TV for almost a week. The color, brightness, and contrast on this TV are incredible. The local dimming or as TCL calls it “local contrast” works so well you might think you are watching an OLED screen. I Iike that Roku is built into the TV. No need for a separate streaming box or stick. I’ve watched Stranger Things in Dolby Vision in the Netflix Roku app and also hooked up a new Sony UHD disc player and watched a few movies and now there is no way I can ever go back to regular HD. Simply stunned by the leap in picture quality. I never thought I would upgrade, but I am now a believer in 4K and HDR.

TCL offers a TV with fantastic picture quality and plenty of streaming apps and services at a very reasonable price. We bought two TVs, one for the living room where there is plenty of light, and another one for the bedroom on a much darker area. The viewing quality in both rooms is exactly the same: outstanding!
I wish the remote was the enhanced one, since that one comes with an audio jack on it. We downloaded the Roku app on a tablet instead, to listen the TV with headphones when one or the other is sleeping. A simple set up and you can get Amazon, Spectrum, Pandora and many other providers.
Excellent choice, and we highly recommend it.

All the reviews and videos I watch were spot on, this is the best TV for picture quality and I might add very easy to use once set-up. It could use a better remote but you can always use a different remote if you wanted. Enjoy the way it is integrated with ROKU and APPs I like and actually use. The picture is so clear it's like your there and not really watching a movie, it's that good. I almost feel like I'm on the set, You-Tube videos are amazing! The TV is also very light and easy to move around, my Plasma is 3 times as heavy. I liked it so well I purchased another one, must be a good TV? Right? Right.

Like many people, I wasn't familiar with TCL until relatively recently. When I decided to purchase a new television and set a budget, TCL kept coming up in my research. Ultimately, at this price point and at this size, the TCL 6 Series seemed to offer the best picture by consensus.
After about a month, I'm pleased to say that I'm very happy with the purchase. The picture quality, even without much calibration, is excellent. Native 4K content is, of course, spectacular, but even 1080p content looks great. There are plenty of display options as well, which grants a lot of flexibility in tuning the picture to your preferences. I was especially happy to see that the action smoothing option can be turned off entirely, as I've never cared much for it. I don't believe this is true for all TCL sets.
The Roku interface also adds a great deal of value to this television out of the box. It lags a bit every now and again, but overall it's been a great interface and has virtually eliminated any need to connect a separate box. I also want to note that the plug-and-play functionality with OTA broadcasts via an antenna is phenomenal.
The only real complaint that I have concerns the quality of the remote control. It feels quite cheap and the buttons are very loud when pressed, which can be a bit aggravating if you're continuously browsing through titles on Netflix or something. All in all, though, it's a minor nitpick when there's so much else here to like.
Ultimately, I'm very happy with this purchase and would easily recommend it to anyone else looking for a new television at this price point.

First things first. My set does have very slight banding, and slight DSE. When I say slight I mean it's hardly noticeable but I can see it on rare occasions.
The color, brightness and picture or excellent for a TV of this price. They are excellent for a TV double the price.
The roku interface is smooth and has allowed me to cut the cord without my family caring too much.
I have saw other 6 series with significantly more banding and I'd be upset if mine were that way. These sets are a bit of a gamble so if you aren't prepared to have a chance for at least one return you may not want this set. If you want perfect screen uniformity save your money and purchase a set double or more in price.

I am seriously surprised at how amazing this TV especially at $599.99. Seriously, this even rivals TV's at over twice the price. 4K HDR & Dolby Vision content look absolutely stunning even at the stock settings without making a few tweaks.
Games such as God of War and Horizon look jaw dropping at 4K with HDR enabled. The colors are vibrant, textures are crisp and most important input lag is very low even without game mode enabled. Of course, game mode does give you a better gaming experience input lag wise so this option is best for shooters.
Overall, really happy and wish the 65 inch was available, but this will do for now. If you think you can get a better TV at this price let me know, but I highly doubt it.

Great Budget TV Overall

This is a great overall budget TV. The colors on the TV look great and the built in Roku provides plenty of options for content. I was a little worried about my mother using this TV because it does not have the traditional remote with an input button but navigating the settings and inputs is easy enough and is very intuitive. It even has the option to boot to a specified input (like Cable Box for instance) each time the TV starts up.
My only complaint is the HDR settings for Netflix. It is way too dark and when you check the backlight settings everything says it's at 100 but I think this is a bug. I lowered the backlight to 0 and saw no change at all making me speculate that this setting is actually stuck at like 20 or 50 when viewing HDR content, despite what the backlight setting is. Other HDR content like on Vudu looks pretty good but also appears to be a bit dark. Non-HDR content is bright and looks great though so I'm a bit confused on their programming logic if this is not a bug. I have tried multiple settings including changing the dynamic contrast zones but it seems to have no noticeable effect on the backlighting. I would give this TV 5 Stars once this is fixed because of its quality for the price.

Great picture. Good color quality. Easy to set up. Roku operating system is flawless. It’s actually wider than I thought. There is a small amount of motion blurring on scenes with a high amount of activity, but there is a motion smoother that I haven’t tried yet. Some movies that I have watched before become almost like a new movie due to details that I had missed before. Price was better than other brands in they same class. There are no controls for really detailed color control but I haven’t seen a need. Lots of customizing for other aspects of operation. Netflix is flawless as well as the other streaming options. It connected to my wireless network the first try and hasn’t lost the signal yet.

Baby Sony Z9D

I’m really impressed with this TV. I bought this TV as a secondary, bedroom TV and bought it for one reason, brightness. Nothing else at this price point comes close to matching this TV in brightness, (nits, cd/m2) critical for HDR content. I have a Sony Z9D in my living room (if you don’t know what a Sony Z9D is, look it up, it’s the best LED/LCD TV ever made and in my opinion an OLED killer. OLEDs just dont get bright enough for me, all though they are getting better and close to matching where this TCL measures. MicroLED is the future of TVs I believe. All the pros of OLED with none of the flaws, except maybe price, especially at first release)
I wasn’t expecting this TV to come anywhere close to matching the performance of my Z9D, as this TV was about $2700 cheaper, (10 inches smaller, but even the 65” is still about $2400 cheaper) but wow, this TV comes amazingly close. It’s a very impressive TV, especially at its price point. I still believe it’s main competitor, the Vizio P series (not PQ-65) is still a little better TV as a whole, but all Vizios, except the PQ-65 are very dim in comparison, and brightness is important to me. One area I noticed a flaw is in it’s local dimming. There is definitely a lot of blooming going on, especially compared to the Z9D. TCL’s algorithm is no where near as good as Sony’s, but also the dimming zone count is way lower. If comparing 65” models, it’s 648 zones for the Z9D versus 120 for the TCL (96 zones on this 55” version) To even make the comparison against the Z9D really says something for this TCL at its price point. If this TV is in your targeted budget area, the Vizio P series is probably a little better as a whole, but if you want a bright TV in this price range, this is your TV.
*Almost everything written here will most likely be expired by late May/early June 2019, as mostly all the new 2019 model will be out by then, with all different specs, and possibly contradicting everything I just wrote.

A number of firsts on this purchase were that it was our first 4K tv, also our first Smart TV. Since we have DSL as our internet connection I was skeptical on whether the integrated Roku streaming technology would be able to deliver a good streaming experience. Streaming turned out to be quite good on all of the channels that I enabled. We purchased the set on sale so we got $100 off the normal price. But after researching sets when my existing set went bad the research pointed to this set as one of the better ones in its price class. My wife and I are very satisfied with its performance and the interpolation computer inside the set does a good job of taking the 1080p feed from my DTV satellite feed and upgrading it to a higher resolution picture. To our eyes the colors and contrast appear acceptable and flesh tones natural.
Our only complaints were that the provided instructions were very sparse, and the remote control provided with the set had the volume buttons located on the right side and not on the facing side of the control where you would expect them to be plus they are very small in comparison to the rest of the control buttons. The volume will also change when changing channels which takes time to get used to so you can throttle it either up or down as needed. We saw a similar older set at the Best Buy store when we went to look as they did not have this particular model as a floor model - as a buyer that was very disappointing but we chanced the purchase anyhow. I liked that the set came with 3 HDMI ports, and the earphone jack port.
This review is based on having the set for about three weeks. We tend to watch a lot of tv so I will be curious to see how well the set holds up over time. I didn't bother with it too much on my prior set but on this one while doing my research I found a number of references that these LED sets can get aged prematurely by running them with high backlighting so I reduced (after learning about the advanced controls options) the picture backlighting to about 50 percent and we have a very satisfying picture with taht setting. There were complaints in the research about motion blurring as in sports but so far I have not seen it on any of the sports I have watched - football games, and figure skating.
We got normal delivery on the set, and the Best Buy delivery team brought it into the house, unboxed it, and mounted the legs on the set (reversed them as we requested so they fit on the table where the set would be placed), connected the HDMI from the DTV, and the HDMI from the BlueRay and then verified the set worked on all of the inputs. Delivery took about 15 minutes. My wife and I were quite satisfied with their professionalism and the care with which they handled the set.

Picked this TV up for my bar in my house and I couldn't be happier. Easy to mount, easy to operate. The installed RokuTV is simple, and with a couple of clicks you can have it set up to display to your liking. The picture, while not quite on par with my LG OLED, is pretty amazing, even when the room is brightly lit. The HRD pops, and I've had no issues to date with any dead spots. TCL makes a good product on par with the Samsungs and Sony's of the world at an easier to swallow price point. If you're looking for a TV that has a great picture, especially if its not going to be for your living room, this would be it.

This tv was easy to set up. Once it was set, and we began watching. I WAS AMAZED! Even older 420p shows seem like they are in 3D. Everything seems more alive! The colors are VIVID yet under your TOTAL CONTROL. For just a few dollars more than a 1080p television, the upscale to 4K feature just blows us away. I am considering purchasing a 2nd one for the family room. The only thing I wish it had was either RCA or COMPOSITE jacks. But with a converter device, our legacy connections work just fine

Love this TV!!!!
I initially purchased a TV that cost almost twice as much, but after reading all the reviews on the TCL 6 Series, I decided to return that TV and purchase the TCL. I'm glad I made this decision the TCL is every bit as good, if not better in some ways than the TV I would have spent twice as much for.
The image quality on this TV is amazing, and the colors are nice and saturated, especially when watching a movie in HDR or Dolby Vision. The Roku OS is a cinch to use and provides many options for cord-cutters. I can't say enough good things about this TV, Way to go TCL!!!!

I bought this TV mainly because of all the reviews I had read about it most glowing praise for how good the picture was for a $600.00 TV well the reviews I read didn't do this TV justice the picture and 240hz refresh along with the 96 zone HDR contrast areas make this TV better then the $1000.00 Sony take my word I bought that one first then put on a hockey game I had on my DVR and the puck was a blur along with the players when the camera was close up and I brought it right back and went with the TCL that I had read so many glowing reviews for and boy am I glad I did put on the same hockey game when I got it hooked up and the puck was perfectly clear even when someone hammered a slap shot on goal then I hooked up my xbox one x and wow now this is what games should look and feel like my kills in fps are way better and I always thought I just sucked now I know why I sucked serious lag from my controller to what my player did and with this TV its alot lower lag (15mls) then most $1000.00 and up 4k hdr TVs on the market check it out for yourself so to sum it up as far as I'm concerned if your a gamer or a sports fan especially fast sports like hockey and you want a great picture clear high speed moving objects and a better Kill to Death ratio in your games and real good hdr with both hdr 10 and DolbyHDR another plus most higher priced TVs dont feature then look no further then the TCL 6 series one of the best purchases I have ever made from reading these reviews

A great picture in general, but loads of advanced picture settings so you can dial it in to your specifications. Nice contrast. Deep blacks with local dimming. The Roku smart tv system integration is great. Very snappy and fast.
Haven't utilized HDR media as of yet, but the TV's ability to use HDR10 and/or Dolby Vision is a nice option to have.

I was hoping to get a good display as these tv's are known for banding issues. Mine had none, the picture is amazing. For a tv to have this picture quality at this price and still offer HDR, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos is quite the deal. The Roku interface is easy to use and seamless. The TV display has solid blacks and amazing whites. The extended color gamut really shows in HDR and Dolby Vision. I would recommend this to everyone. And if your tv stand is not as wide as it needs to be, the legs will reverse to allow it to sit on a smaller base stand.

I decided to buy this TV after my old plasma finally had its last breath. I did a lot of comparative research on 55”TVs before settling on this one, and it was even better than I had anticipated.
I’ve read tons of reviews on this TV and the two things people seem to have issue with is that the motion rate is not as smooth as some other TVs, and the brightness level is too low.
I am coming from a plasma TV and it’s true the motion rate of this TV is NOT equivalent to the motion rate of my plasma, but it is not noticeably slow. 95% of people will not notice any issues with the motion rate of this TV, especially compared to anything remotely close in price.
As for the brightness: I have my TV mounted in a bright living room with four windows and I had to turn the brightness DOWN when I set the TV up. This TV is very bright and the colors are vibrant.
I have no issues with this TV. The picture quality is exceptional and you cannot get a better, more vibrant picture without spending the money for a OLED TV.
Pair the amazing picture quality with the smooth interface of the ROKU system and to me, this TV is simply the best value there is on the market. Do not be put off by some of the other reviews of this TV. If you cannot afford an OLED TV, this is the TV to buy!

I've only had this TV for close to a month, but so far I'm really impressed. The picture quality is outstanding. The set looks sleek. Set-up was easy. My only complaint would be the remote control. You have to aim it directly at the TV and that makes it seem unresponsive at times. I can't speak to the set's longevity. Only time will tell how trouble-free it will prove to be. For the price, the 6-series 55" TCL, at least so far, seems to be a very good value.
