When going to purchase a new TV, I did a ton of research online and in store. If you are conscientious about price this is the only TV to go with. You don't really start seeing major picture differences when comparing this television with others until you get north of $1500 with those other brands. If you are comparing to Vizio, or lower end Sony, LG and Samsung, save yourself some money and buy this television. Those brands are focusing on their higher end OLED and Quantum dot technologies, while TCL is focused on this price point segment and packing as much tech into it as they can. Buy the TCL, you'll be happy you did.

After doing a LOT of homework, and finding out about who TCL really was there was an obvious choice to make. 55 or 65 inches. While many of the TCL sets get fair reviews when comparing to other likes sets I was looking for high end features in a lower priced set. The TCL 6 series had everything I was looking for. When you look at what it has to offer and then try to find the same features in other brands you will quickly find yourself spending between $200 and $500 more. There is no better set on the market in the price rand of the TCL sets and the 6 series in particular. I consider my self a Home Theater Expert considering I have been selling high end audio video equipment for the last 20 years or so. Go look at these sets...Review the company and Enjoy you new TCL TV.

I was looking for a 55" TV that was high quality but didn't break the bank. I've spent over $1000 each on my previous two displays just to see them become somewhat old news after a couple of years. After reading around this TV got high remarks from a number of sources and had everything I needed. I'm a big fan of the Roku TVs. Roku has one of the best smart TV interfaces and baking in the Roku interface into a TV is far superior than the average smart TV factory interface. You also know it will be updated over time which many of the manufacturers neglect after a short period of time. I do agree with some online reviews noting the viewing angle from the side is diminished as compared to some other models.

    The remote is the worst

I purchased this TV when it was on sale, upgrading from a 40” Samsung smart tv to this 55” 4K TV. The price was unbeatable, and I was interested in trying a TV with a built-in Roku streaming system. I also liked that it did not come Alexa-enabled (it’s optional), because I want nothing to do with all of the voice-activated nonsense that is becoming almost impossible to avoid. The TV itself is fine. The picture quality is decent besides some movement lag depending on what your watching. I do wish it had at least one more HDMI input (it only has 2), but my Samsung has 4, so I think I just got spoiled. I have had this TV for about a year now, and I can say with absolute certainty I will never buy a TCL or a Roku TV again. The main reason for this concrete decision is mostly due to how terrible the TV remote is. There’s only like a 3” space on the bottom middle of the TV that accepts the signal (worst design I’ve ever seen), so you have to press the button like 7 times to get a reaction. Plus, I can’t center my sound bar because it blocks signal. I even tried to buy a replacement remote that doesn’t rely on infrared technology, but there is no option. I can use the Roku App on my phone, which works much better than the remote, but I’m just baffled as to why the design is so terrible. I’ve also talked with other people who have purchased TCL televisions, and the remote thing is not an isolated incident. On to the next, the Roku streaming platform is not impressive. I figured I’d try it after using a Samsung platform, an Amazon Fire Stick and Apple TV. The Roku is easy to download Apps on, which I like, but it was much glitchier than my Apple TV. It freezes sometimes, and I am unable to get the HBO Max App, which is a dealbreaker. In conclusion, this TV was a good deal (as long as it lasts for a few years), and a good learning experience, but I’ll probably save up for another Samsung in the future.

I was researching alot of TV's and came across this bad boy. First thing I did was hook up my PS4 Pro and my mind was blown. Even my Xbox one S was beautiful on this screen. With FandangoNow built in, I bought Antman 2 and Infinity war. I can't go back to 1080p after this. Pros: Under $1k HDR10 and Dolby Vision Dynamic Contrast Cons: Bestbuy version of this TV does not come with Roku enhanced voice remote. Included remote must be pointed directly at the IR receiver on the TV otherwise, you're going to have a tough time controlling the TV. Thick profile compared to other TV's on the market. Didn't really matter but I know some folks like that thin profile when mounting on a wall. I will buy another but a bigger one for the living room.

    TCL 55" Series 6 Review

There's a reason why CNET gave this series the accolades! Performance vs. price is an astounding value. We purchased 2x 65" and 1x 55" TCL series 6 televisions to replace our aging Pioneer Kuro plasmas. The picture quality rivals units costing significantly more. At this time, it made sense for us to avoid OLED units, these get you close for 3x less. HDR Netflix content or 4k discs from the Oppo look amazing. There are some concessions to make (i.e. processing quality & reflections on the screen), but, there small ones. An absolute bargain in my opinion.

I am giving it 3 stars for the picture alone, which did not disappoint, especially at this price point. Unfortunately, the remote was quite possibly the worst remote I have ever used. We went through tech support and tried 3 separate remotes before having someone come out and swap out the control board and IR sensor. That improved things for about 24 hours, before it was back to being unresponsive again. This is with the basic IR remote, and not the enhanced wireless one. With a wireless remote everything worked fine, but I was disappointing enough in the lack of quality that I questioned what other problems might present themselves down the road. We ended up returning the TV and switching to a Samsung NU8000 instead, and it has been a night and day difference. The colors are more vibrant, and using the remote is so much quicker. The Roku interface is significantly better than Samsung's unfortunately, but it was a trade off worth making. My recommendation is spend the extra money for the Samsung, or at the very least, get the enhanced remote and hope for the best in a few years.

      Hello,

We're sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your TV and that you were not able to see the same great picture quality a majority of our customers are seeing. This is definitely not normal for our TVs nor the remotes. We have glowing reviews on many professional reviewing sites and also from our customers. So it is a bit baffling to hear otherwise. We find that most of our customers are more than thrilled with the performance of our TV. We will continue to make improvements to ensure our customers the best experience possible. Best of luck and happy viewing!

      Thank you,

regarding the value price it can contend with TVs that are hundreds of dollars more. It has deep blacks, vibrant colors, great contrast, above average motion performance, decent brightness, rather impressive build quality, and acceptable sound quality. The addition of motion interpretation was a much needed feature, and I'm glad to see it on this tv. Connected to the Xbox One X - games play with ridiculously low input lag and have rather decent motion performance. This is the TV to purchase if you want to save some cash and get a spectacular gaming experience in 4k HDR.

I bought this TV at Best Buy for the living room after several months of reading reviews and watching YouTube video reviews. I haven't had or (noticed) any of the obvious screen issues that are popular in many reviews. 4K content looks great. One major issue I did find is that the TV sound is very low even with a sound bar w/sub-woofer. Also with hundreds of channels for most cable services it is insane not to have number keys on the remote or allow universals to have the functionality. Another issue is that Private Listening via the app is not available for DirecTV. Overall a nice TV for the price. Will buy the Sony XBR900F or equivalent LG/Samsung when $$ are available.

This TCL 6-series, is a GREAT TV. It can be had at at a great value. I bought the 55R615 55" version. Of course, you will try to be swayed to the "Big Name" displays. I consider myself a "Bargain A/V Geek". While I love to have the "Best", I have to try to "rationalize" spending the money for it. I truly believe that the picture quality, and ease of the Roku interface, is the best bang for the buck available. I have liked this so much over the past 14 months, that I just picked up the 65R613/65R617 about a week ago. The new one I picked up, includes a "Voice Command" remote, and is 65". Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

In general, I like the smart tv with ROKU. There are some things that could be better. The remote is a pain to use. The sound buttons are on the side of the remote and get in the way of using the other buttons. The remote is small and not friendly to big hands. Also, the receptor for the remote is on the right edge of the tv. It is sometimes difficult to aim at it. You need to be very precise and it often takes multiple tries before it works. On the plus side, the 4K screen is wonderful and I like the minimal frame around the TV. It seems like the set is all screen. The access to streaming content is great. I give this set a solid B+.

So why 4 stars....1. You must like roku...I don't get it and I can't find free content it claims to have. 2. You have to buy a series 6 TCL tv to get the great picture and sound isn't bad. But series 6 at bestbuy is slightly different from the regular series 6 as strange as that is. 3. Funky remote .yes no voice control remote on best buy version. 4. Cant directly program the remotes functions into my harmony 650 remote so I'm stuck with 3 remotes out again because fire stick gets the content my high def 4k cable ultra doesn't get. All said, I would buy another one next time a little bigger.

So I finally decided to share my thoughts. First of all, whoever's complain about the sound or the picture needs go take a lap outside. They're spoiled. This TV has the 4k picture and HDR that anyone could get out of a TV twice the price. 5 year warranty included from TCL as well? Cons I would say that roku TV sucks. But at least you can use your phone as a remote. I even think this Tv can be too loud for me at times. Using PS4 Pro? Highly recommend. You get the 4k out of your PS4 nicely.

While not perfect, this is most definitely a 5-star 4K TV, given it's incredible picture quality and features for the price! The Pro's are: fantastic picture quality, brightness, blacks, Roku interface and value. While the Con's are: off-angle viewing picture quality deteriorates the picture quality quickly, mild darkening within 1" of the 4 corners, very mild DSE (only noticeable when looking for it on very specific content). Overall, IMHO this 4K TV is the best value of 2018 if you want a fantastic picture for under $1K

The black levels on this TV are awesome and just a step below OLED. The colors are vibrant and the Roku OS is great. The only downside to this TV is that it’s not as bright as the Sony X900E and in order to get to advanced color settings, you must go through the Roku app. No big deal to me. Do note that the Best Buy version (R615) of this set DOES NOT come with the voice/RF remote and has no headphone jack (who cares), it comes with the standard IR Roku remote, but does cost $50 less than the R617 version sold everywhere else. Many people compare this TV to the Sony X900E which I also have and I must honestly say that for $500 cheaper, the TCL is the way to go. It won’t be as bright, but the black levels kick the pants off of the Sony X900E and the colors are comparable. The X900E has a lil more “pop” to it. The Roku OS is also so much more better than Sony’s Android OS.
