Love this TV. It had all the features I wanted for a very competitive price. Picture quality is fantastic, includes 4K w/ Dolby Vision and HDR10. I didn't like the foot stands that came with it (made it so the TV would not fit on my corner table, so I had to buy a base stand separate), but other than that, this TV is perfect. I use it with YouTube TV, Philo, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. Roku platform is top-notch and have had no issues at all.

Local dimming, great blacks, comes with the amazing Roku operating system, beautiful heavy duty body construction that not even the leading competition can match for the price.

Picture is nice. Bright. Vivid. Clear. Ultra HD on Netflix is amazing after you get the settings dialed in. Same with Dolby Vision. One of my concerns before buying was the speakers, but it's loud enough. Only downside is that the TV seems to have a hard time when there is bright white and dark black on the screen at the same time when in motion. I've had the TV for a month and only have come across that issue twice so it's not a big deal. Roku is quick and snappy.

With its feature set it would be hard to find a better TV on the market with this price point. There's a reason why TCL went from 0% market share in the US 5 years ago to becoming the #3 seller of TVs. The LED backlight zones work wonders for HDR content and probably do the best job I have seen at emulating the inky blacks an OLED would produce. As someone who works in UX design I really like the ROKU interface. I have owned sets with Android TV, Samsung Smart TV, Fire TV, and Chromecast in the past but ROKU probably has to be the most straightforward and consistently updated out of the bunch.

Setup was dead simple. Picture quality is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! I can't believe the quality if this TV for the price. Plenty of input choices. I love Roku as it is much easier to navigate than other devices. I would definitely recommend TCL. I had never heard of the brand before, but it kept popping up in user reviews when I was researching other brands for a new TV.
One suggestion- turn off the settings that give the "soap opera effect" on 4K TVs. A Google search for how to turn off the soap opera effect will give you the instructions. After that, you will have a great picture.

I didn’t expect to have a very nice picture with such a small price. I was skeptical at first because I’ve never heard of this brand, but I’m willing to try anything for the right price. Can’t beat the affordability and picture quality as long as you know what you’re looking for. Only downside is it doesn’t have a great, wide viewing angle. As long as you’re in front of the TV, this thing can hold its own to more expensive brands. I have a Panasonic Plasma which is my favorite TV, and still is my main TV. I’m very picky when it comes to picture quality, and the TCL 6 really impressed me.

I am at a loss for the "name" of the tech behind the stunning display, but all 4k TV's have tons of variations of tech on how they deliver that 4k, hence the large variation of prices between all 4k TV's of the same size.
This has to be the best budget TV I've ever had. I am comparing it between SUPER budget on one end (Hisense) and a $2k Samsung OLED on the other. I have both in my home.
This particular TCL was much closer to the Hisense in price, but much closer to my Samsung as far as the picture.

As other reviews have said, this TV performs great for the price. I've had none of the issues on white screens that some have expressed -- it was the first thing I tested. Or I'm just not that discerning a viewer! I bought this because of the integrated Roku system; a TV's onboard navigation package is just as important as the picture, and for me it's either Roku or AppleTV. For everyday use in our family room, this TV does the job. The built-in sound is fine but not great; bass is particularly weak. But a halfway decent sound bar can take care of that.

I did a lot of research on this purchase and after 1 week, I am super happy with my purchase! The 4K picture quality is fantastic and the colors and blacks are vivid. The RokuTV interface is super easy to use! Love the asthetics of the Tv and it’s really thin on the wall. The VESA mounts are very low on the back of the TV, so be aware of that if you are putting it on an existing wall mount, it will likely be higher than your previous TV.
If you are looking for a good 4K TV and don’t wanna spend part of your retirement for it, TCL 6 series are a great buy!

I've only had this TV for a short time and it seems okay for the price. I was looking for a budget tv and I settled on this one 55in TCL 6 series. Picture looks good but there are some issues the TV randomly turns itself off for no reason, the remote stops working every morning until I either physically press the button on the set or I make a selection with the roku app its not too bad but annoying, and the speakers make a crackling/rattling noise even at low volumes. I know this TV is half the price of some of the big name brands but for something brand new I would hope not to have any issues. I probably won't be buying TCL products again unless the quality improves.

This TV is a really tremendous value. I have this and the 65" in the living room. I have an 82" Samsung 8000 series upstairs, and the Samsung just can't hold a candle in any department but brightness (that display does get bright as the sun!).
But the blacks, and the HDR/Dolby Vision on this set really are great. And they are cheaper than Samsungs inferior models, to boot! Only better images I have seen are the LG OLEDs, for three times the price!
Also, Roku has a great interface going on, and LOTS of apps.

I had done a lot of research before purchasing a new TV and the consensus was that this was the best TV at this price point, and that it even compared favorably to TV's that were twice as expensive.
The picture is great; sharp details; bright colors; and the built-in Roku works flawlessly.
Sound is very basic and is the only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars.
Overall a great TV, and if you add a soundbar, you'll have a TV that can rival those that cost twice as much.

I spent multiple hours researching televisions before making my purchase decision, and I couldn't be happier with this one. The only reason why I give it a four star review is because of some of the finer tuning options that I am accustomed to with my Samsung and LG sets aren't as readily available in the user interface on the TCL. In all the picture is excellent, the brightness of the HDR performs as expected and then some. If you are in the market for a 4K set and not looking to break the bank I would highly suggest this one.

I can't express how satisfied I am with this purchase. My previous TV was approximately 10 years old and it finally died. I was granted permission from the lady to get a new one. I had researched TVs for past 3 years since we knew our previous one was dying. TVs change often and hard to keep up with what's great and yet keep it in a reasonable price. Every aspect of this TV exceeds my expectations. I'm not a tech genius but picture quality, price, and size (well I could have used bigger than 55" but I like my bed) is perfect for us.

Looking for a new tv, picked an open box Samsung 50” smart tv, 2015 technology, way too tedious to set up and use. Returned. Next got an LG , not a bad tv, but wouldn’t hold a wireless connection. Everytime it was turned off, had to re input the wireless password. Back it went. Finally, asked the salesman what the best value in the store was, he then directed me to the TCL. Hands down the best by far. Great picture, easy to use. Very pleased!

After doing a ton of research and price shopping I settled on this TCL 55R615. I read reviews that the pending 2019 models would have the same picture tech as the 2018 model, so to save some coin I shopped for the 2018. I found the best price here at BB. The price was too good to beat, $499
I read countless reviews that there is a problem with banding on these TV's, so I bought direct from a BB store, thinking bulk shipping to the store would create less stress on the TV versus shipping one TV to me direct.
Since I bought at the store I asked BB to open, plug in and test the TV before I bought it home to ensure no banding.
NOTE: they happily did this AFTER I had paid for the TV, which is no problem for me, if the TV sucked then I was onsite to return and get another until I found one without the banding :-)
Anyway, first TV bought, plugged in, checked, no banding. So they loaded it up, I brought it home and set it up. It looks great!
Heads up, the picture out of the box is set on bright mode. I went to this site (https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/tcl/6-series-r617-2018/settings) and changed the picture settings...and WOW!! The picture does pop! No artifacts. Watched baseball, road racing and football, no problem with picture speed. So if you buy one be sure to go to that link immediately and set the picture settings, it will make a HUGE difference in picture quality.
NOTE: One could live with the sound quality and the speakers in the TV. But I wanted more, I mean the 55" TV only cost $499 so I opted for more sound. I bought the Polk Audio Signa2 sound bar and sub, a GREAT sound system for the price. Best reviewed too! It has two great features: 1) you can increase the volume of just the spoken word in a movie/TV show x2!! And 2) the remote allows for volume control of JUST the bass! So you can pump just the bass for music (via bluetooth from my iPhone) and lower it for TV shows. All for $140 Can't be beat!
One last thought, it seems to me that the picture is getting better with time. I know, sounds lame, but it seems that the colors are getting richer.

Beautiful Picture But Black Bands On White Images
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
First off I was amazed by the colors and quality. Coming from a 1080p Samsung TV thats probably 5 yrs old, this was a huge upgrade. I like all the features the TV has. The picture is beautiful but I heard about people seeing black bands across the screen on white backgrounds. I pulled up a blank white webpage and noticed these blakc bands as well. I’m not sure if some TVs are worse than others but reading a webpage that has a white background looks terrible.
I want to try and get a replacement but I’m not sure how, or I can just return/exchange it. If I can get one without the bands I will change to 5 stars bc it is an awesome TV!
