Hello All, Purchased my P605 on Oct 20th and wanted to wait a couple of wks before I can provide my brief but accurate review. To put it simply I am extremely happy on this specific unit viewing output of Visuals + Ultra 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, 72 Zone Contrast Control, Direct Lit + Smart TV/ARC + No Soap Opera Effect + Playstation 4 PRO is an exceptional partner + 1080p Upconversion is Stellar, YT 4K HRD Ch. is Supreme. Vudu Dolby Vision Movies (ex, WonderWomen) is Exceptional + Owned 2 Roku 3600R Devices before, So Big Ups to RokuTV as I am very familiar w/.it's operation,. function & ease of use + TCL website incl TCL Phone Reps & In Depth Manual are there for you. - Roku IR Remote for this model is my only real downer. Better off using Roku 's App as its Wifi based and offers way more functions including Gamma Adjustments. Audio = So So, Best if partnered w/ Home Theater AV & Speaker SetUp . Stand = Purchased a FITuEyes Universal Based Tabletop TV stand Warranty = `$150 for 5yr on GeekSquad for added security In all, do your research by simply googling this specific TLC 55P605/607 model and visit all the professional big websites. Like Cnet. Rtings etc and watch YT for even more pleasantries on how this specific 4KTV goes way beyond the price you have payed for. I would Highly Recommend this to anyone who wants to enter into the 4K HDR Relm without going deep into your cash box. Hope my words were useful. B-EZ

Most pleasant, Smart 4K TV surprise

In October, I was on the hunt for a 4K TV upgrade. I was looking to see, if I could find a good, smart 4K by Samsung, Sony LG or Vizio. Then, I looked at reviews on various 4K TV’s on Amazon, cnet, and rtings of those common brands I mentioned for mid-range 4K TVs under a grand and was not impressed. Then, I stumbled upon the unfamiliar 55s405 by TCL, which I perceived, as a generic brand. However, I saw a TON of good reviews on the TV. Additionally, I saw many YouTube videos and decided to purchase this 4K TV. Later, I learned about the 55p605 and found it to be more superb and decided to swap. I was impressed hearing about the many features of the p605, such as, Dolby Vision HDR, 72 HDR Contrast Control Zones, Advanced LED Phosphor with Wide Color Gamut and of course, a Roku platform to stream many channels. I also found out, the p605 was a great gaming gaming TV. What was more shocking is the p605 has ALL of these features for only a six-hundred dollar price-tag. With that being said, is this TV a steal or a too-good-to-be-true, dud? 4K RESOLUTION: The resolution of the p605 is surprisingly superb. The default display shows in 4K UHD. The close-ups on objects, humans, etc. on the display is just phenomenal because of the detail and clarity. The display allows images to be seen, very clearly, as if watchers of the TV were there. For example, I was watching a documentary on Netflix. I saw the image of the people, very clearly. On some scenes, I could see the pores on the person’s skin. I could see every spot on the windshield, when they were in the car. It was like I was in the car with that person. Watching sports has the same effect, especially football. Seeing the field, horizontally is one thing. However, seeing the close-ups of the players is a whole different thing. Amazing color and clarity. The p605 has a 120hz refresh rate, but it is not quite the SOE (Soap Opera Effect) that many 120hz TVs have. In addition, users will see 60hz on the display by pressing the OK button on the remote. However, on moving objects, there is little to no judder or blurriness of moving objects. I have seen many footballs thrown, while watching games and saw no outside motion (blurriness, judder) of the ball. That is where the 120hz kicks in. 72 HDR CONTRAST CONTROL ZONES: This is aka full-array local dimming (FALD). This feature allows the TV to automatically brighten or dim the backlight behind those individual zones, providing better contrast and deeper blacks. It balances out, perfectly. No bleeding, grainy, fuzzy blacks or oversaturated white displays. From what I discovered, while watching, that is why the close-ups on the display look, as good, as they do. Users can manually adjust one of the two contrast settings, which is Local and Dynamic. Both cannot be used at the same time. In addition, users can turn them off, completely. HDR/DOLBY VISION/WIDE COLOR GAMUT: HDR (High Dynamic Range) is the bread and butter of this tv. It is to make for better contrast, increasingly vivid colors and brighter images. In other words, with HDR, those dark images or edges on the display will show, brighter. The p605 has a wide array of colors aka Wide Color Gamut that works with HDR to enhance colors x2. In other words, with HDR, those dark images or edges on the display will show, brighter. Most of the time, Dolby Vision HDR will not be seen, unless I watch Netflix or other streaming sites. Netflix has movies and or shows, presented in Dolby Vision HDR or Ultra HD 4K. Dolby Vision HDR shows crystal-clear and unbelievably sharp. However, the display is kinda dim, depending on what is watched. I found that many 4K TVs, which has HDR modes, actually has that for a cinematic, viewing experience. Anytime a user, first turns on a program that is Dolby Vision or HDR, the corresponding icon will automatically flash, multiple times on the upper right of the display. Generally, HDR resolution will be seen, while playing a 4K video game i.e. PS4 Pro or Xbox One X or watching a movie on a 4K Blu-Ray player. Of course, when first turning on a game, the same HDR icon will flash up on the upper right part of the screen. GAMING: Like I said, the p605 is one of the best gaming TVs that I have seen. I play with the PS4 Pro, which is a 4K gaming system, as I mentioned. The HDR resolution, while playing, is phenomenal. I have played games with already superb graphics, such as Uncharted 4, Uncharted Lost Legacy and Call Of Duty WWII. HDR, just enhances the beauty. I would compare it to buffing and waxing an already washed car. What separates the p605 from many other 4K TVs is the lack of input lag, while gaming. What is more amazing is the p605 has a Game Mode to reduce input lag, but at this point, lag it not noticeable, whether Game Mode is switched off or on. Overall, playing online will give players smooth, responsive gameplay and a competitive edge over the competition. CUSTOMIZATION/ROKU INTERFACE: One of the main features I love about the p605 is the customization and ease of use. For example, for each input i.e. TV, Game, 4K, etc., picture settings (brightness, picture mode, size, audio effect, sleep timer and audio effect) can be changed and saved. I have NEVER seen that feature on any other TV I have ever owned. As a plus, Dolby Vision and HDR has their own customizable picture settings, as well. Users can also go to Advance Picture Settings to change the color, tint, brightness, etc. The remote is pretty basic and straightforward, but includes four streaming app buttons to quickly gain access to them. Some models have different ones. Owners of the p607 will have the same remote, except it includes a headphone jack with headphones, included. Btw, the remote is the ONLY difference, between the p605 and p607. Another cool feature of the p605 is the Roku app can be downloaded to a smartphone to, change settings, access a digital remote AND perform additional picture calibrations on the fly and more. Of course, since this is a Roku television, it can do everything a standard Roku device can do. So, a Roku owner already knows the features. The p605 also updates, periodically, throughout the day. NEGATIVES: I will say the only negatives of the p605, is it only has three HDMI inputs. Sure, it is not a deal-breaker, but it would be nice, if it had four. The other negative is the display does not look very good, when watching at an angle. There have been times, where I got up and was watching, while walking away from the display and the picture looked pale and grainy. Also, the p605 has subpar speakers. Of course, I have a soundbar. Therefore, I would recommend buyers to use theirs, if they own one. VERDICT: With everything feature that I mentioned, it makes the p605 a must-own, ESPECIALLY for the price. Overall, the p605 beats just about every mid-range 4K TV in its class, according to rtings and cnet. In fact, the only step up from the p605 is the infamous 900e by Sony, which cost a grand. Of course, there is other upper-echelon 4Ks, such as QLEDs and/or OLEDs. However, if you are frugally shopping for a smart 4K TV with HDR and superb gaming, if you play, look no further than the p605 OR p607 for that matter. Also, I would also recommend purchasing an HDMI cord by AudioQuest. I always thought an HDMI cable was an HDMI cable, until I purchased it. The cable actually enhanced the p605’s resolution, even more.

I must say for $599 this is an great tv. First of all this TV supports HDR 10 and Dolby Vision out of the box, offers Full Array Local Dimming with 72 zones which provides very deep blacks, and reaches over 700 nits of peak brightness during HDR content(comparable to the 2017 Oled's in HDR brightness). Also, the TCL is one of the best gaming TV's you can buy due to it being measured to have one of the lowest input lag measurements in a TV to date at around 15ms. This TV has the roku smart interface built in with Netflix, Vudu, and Youtube all supporting HDR. In my living room, i have an LG OLED 65C7 and this TCL in my bedroom. In no way am i saying this TCL comes close to the OLED because it doesnt; however, Imo the TCL gets you to about 75% - 80% of the picture quality of the OLED and the price difference is $2,499(OLED 55 inch version) to $599(TCL). That's an amazing price/perfomance ratio. The TCL does have its flaws such as some Flashlighting and black uniformity issues. While watching contect these issues were not really noticeable. The TCL for some reason does not engage the Full Array local dimming until content is started, so while checking menu's and apps the flashlighting is noticeable because the local dimming is off. Hopefully, this will be fixed with a Firmware update. Also, one thing i did was massage the corners of the panel and it cleared up a good amount of the flashlighting/light bleed i was having. So maybe the quality control with these units could be better. Also, the viewing angles aren't good at all; however, that's an issue all LCD TV's suffer from. Lastly, this is a 60hz panel so for those who are used to 120hz it might be a negative. Compared to my 120hz OLED C7, i saw no noticeable motion issues with this 60hz TCL. Summary: Positives. 10 bit Panel 4k, HDR 10, Dolby Vision Dolby Atmos over HDMI/ARC FALD 72 zones Dark Black levels and above 700 nit peak HDR Brightness 15ms input lag in 1080p and 4k HDR gaming Roku Smart platform Negative. Viewing angles Flashlighting(however it is normally present during content) 60hz panel(however motion was excellent to me) For $599, you get features offered with the High end Sony 55X930e at $1,799, or the LG OLED 55 LG B6($1,999) or C7($2,499). Sure they are much better TV's; however, the fact that i can even compare this $599 TV to those TV's costing thousands more is amazing. Even with the negative with this TCL, I had to give it 5 stars because for the money its an amazing TV. I think getting 80% percent of the performance of High End TV's for nearly $2,000 less is an amazing value.

First of all I'm a tv buff and I researched this befor I bought it.HDR and 4K is on point. Tv is jaw dropping. Im playing xbox one s using hdr games via battlefield 1 and titanfall 2. Incredible clarity, colors and life like images with zero LAG. Streaming 4k on Netflix, youtube and amazon video is incredible. Wanted people to know this tv isn't a joke.. its a top performer especially for the price. The only thing that isnt that great is the speakers but they are not that bad at all! Very happy with the purchase. P.s the tv is huge! Very thin and light only 40 pounds or so but 55inch is big but it's def worth it what a treat!

Background on my purchase decision: I had wanted to upgrade to a 4K HDR TV for a while now, the only problem was that pretty much every 4K HDR TV that was worth buying was pretty expensive ($1000+) and I was hoping to be able to spend less than $1000 and still get a good TV. I was beginning to think it was not possible until I recently found this TV. During my research I happened to stumble across the brand name TCL. I had never heard of it before and I am usually a Samsung, Sony, LG person when it comes to high-end electronics. Don't let the fact you haven't really heard of TCL prevent you from getting this TV. For the price there is literally no other TV that can match it in terms of value. Every review site I checked had this TV reviewed equivalently to a much higher-end TV. Every 55in TV I found that had a higher review score cost hundreds more and some were even double the price. Experience using the TV so far: Now onto the stuff you probably care bout more. I've had this TV for a few days and I am extremely happy with it so far. The picture quality is superb, the colors are ridiculously bright, and the Roku TV interface is very user friendly. I'm going to be using the TV mostly for gaming and I've played Ratchet and Clank on my PS4 Pro (one of the few titles out so far that has HDR support) and it is incredible. I legitimately feel like I'm in the middle of a Pixar movie when playing this game. There are tons of different colors, backgrounds, details, etc in this game and everything looks amazing so far. Even when I switched to gaming mode, to lower the input lag, I didn't notice a difference in the picture quality. I also re-watched the first episode of Man in the High Castle on Amazon, because it is available to stream in true 4K (read: not up-scaled). The detail was sharp, the dark's and bright colors were vivid, it was was very impressive to watch. Advice for buying a 4K TV: ***Make sure it has HDR- either HDR10 or Dolby Vision (preferably support for Dolby Vision and HDR10 since there is no one specific dominant format yet, even though most content is HDR10 currently). If it says something like Active HDR don't be fooled, that is not HDR. The only real HDR right now is either HDR10 or Dolby Vision. Without HDR there is no reason to buy a 4K TV- you won't be able to notice the higher resolution without HDR support. ***Make sure it has local dimming. Local dimming allows the TV to adjust brightness independently in different areas of the TV ***If using it specifically for gaming make sure it A.) has a dedicated gaming mode and B.) has a low input lag in that gaming mode. ***Make sure it has a wide color gamut- without getting too technical basically this means that with HDR the colors will look brighter and more vivid and the dark's will look more clear About the TCL P605: This TCL TV supports both HDR10 and Dolby Vision HDR, it has 72 contrast control (read: local dimming) zones, has a dedicated gaming mode and extremely low input lag, the picture can get very bright when viewing HDR content, and has a wide color gamut. Conclusion: This TV is by no means perfect or the best TV on the market right now, but to get a TV that is SIGNIFICANTLY better than this one you'd have to pay at least 4X the price. Simply for the value alone this TV is worth the money, but it also a very good TV in its own right. Its competitors in the same segment may have about equivalent picture quality but the fact that it supports both HDR formats, has the ROKU TV interface, and gets a much brighter HDR picture set it apart. You really can't go wrong with this TV at the price point it is being sold at in my opinion.

Yeahhhh, I'm gonna need you to just go ahead and come back for the P series...mkay. I bought the S series b/c of the price. I returned it for this one not only for the price, but the value. After purchasing the S series, I went back to Best Buy to find a soundbar. During that trip I took a ganders at the P series on display and noticed that it was noticably just better than the other displays around it that were equally priced and some up to 3x more expensive. I thought it was in my head, but after going home and doing my research, it wasn't. Apparently this tv is the steal of the year in 2017. I returned the S series the very next day and got this one. At $599, I can't even explain how much better it is than the S series which don't get me wrong, is a good TV at the $330-$370 price range. But this is a great TV for just a couple hundred dollars more which was still in my price range so I went for it. I mean if you're gonna have a TV, you want to be happy with it. I'm one for value so this fits the bill. Color is rich and rivals many of the in store demos of the alleged higher end tvs. The only bummer is it doesn't have the enhanced Roku remote that the P607 TV has. It has the regular Roku IR remote. But, that wasn't a deal breaker for me. It's $51 cheaper than the P607 with the enhanced remote. Best Buy only sells the P605 so I guess that's a moot point. Regardless, I read some reviews of people disliking the remote. I LOVE this Roku remote (and the Roku Interface is unmatched; I don't think I'll ever want another TV without it). The beauty is the simplicity of it. The 55" P series is slim with a nice side profile. The TV is slimmer than the S-series by a good amount. The box is thinner than the S-series, too, so it actually was easier to fit in my car for the drive home. Plus the feet are chrome colored on the P series as opposed to a silver color with the S series. The picture quality is superior. All the ports are on the right side of the TV which worked better for my setup since I have an antenna incorporated in my setup to get HD network TV. The antenna is closer to the window, with the coax input on the right side. However, I think there's something else going on with this TV in terms of being able to access more channels through the antenna. I couldn't get PBS 1, 2 and 3 with the S series tv. Using this same exact antenna, I get those stations and they are flawless. The picture quality is rich and enjoyable. Luxurious if you will. It's a really nice experience. Plus, I've NEVER experienced a lag while streaming or using the antenna. It's so awesome. I watch a lot of live sports and espn through Roku with Watch ESPN, and I had a ton of lag with the S series TV. I have the same exact internet connection with this TV, a paltry 7 mbps DSL connection, and it feels like I have a 100 mbps connection with this TV. I'm ethernet hardwired in through the back of the TV to wring out everything I can from the 7 mbps, and I stream everything and this TV has never lagged in any streaming service. It's like night and day compared to the S-series. So not only is the picture quality better but this one also supports Dolby Vision HDR AND Dolby Digital Plus Audio which is totally noticeable. The Sony HT-CT790 soundbar that I went with supports Dolby Digital Plus DTS through the HDMI inputs so it's a great pairing. You just get so much more quality with the P series than the S series that if you have the couple hundred extra I'd seriously consider getting the P over the S. It's faster in every regard and has premium picture and audio. No brainer purchase.

I bought this TV because of all the home theater reviews that came out on this TV. (Please see the 55p607 review on CNET) Many saying best TV besides stepping up to the OLED LG and Sony. I did CNETs recommend calibration settings for Movie mode and Im pretty blown away. Thats saying something coming from someone that was a store manager a high end home theater store for 8 years. Ive never been a big fan of LCD or LED. Always too washed out for me. Ive always been a Pioneer and Panasonic plasma fan and especially OLED fan but this TV surprised me. Blacks look great and love the color accuracy after I changed the settings. I didnt get this TV because it was a cheap TV. I got it because it was reviewed as one of the best TV pictures you can buy so why not spend less when you get more picture than other TV brands. Well done TCL!

If you've read ANY reviews of the TCL P-Series, rest assured they are correct. This 55" 4K stands well-above any Sony, Samsung or LG in it's price point, and easily competes with models to the $1,500 price-point, although obviously excluding OLED models. Paired with a Sony X800 4K HDR player, and even the XBOX One S, this display absolutely blows me away. The HDR & Dolby Vision were clear advantages of this model over many others and they are perfectly executed on the P605. Between the price, HDR, Dolby Vision and built-in Roku, this is a no-brainer unless you absolutely have to have Samsung, Sony, LG or another major-brand name on the display. We replaced a Samsung plasma with this model and it was the first worthy (again, considering price point) replacement. Yes, I wanted an OLED like everyone else, but when you can get the performance of this display, plus have money to add a 4K player (again, the Sony X800), along with a ton of 4K movies...you will still spend less for this entire set-up than just buying the OLED and nothing else. Simply put, it's all about bang-for-your-buck here. Sure, there are some shortcomings of the TV, and you do have to work at the settings to tweak the colors, brightness, noise reduction, dynamic contrast, etc...BUT, once it's dialed, it truly is amazing. Please don't pass on this TV based on what you see in the store. This model is usually hung up with the other junk TV's in a very bright section of the store, and probably not even turned on. This model is one of the best values in current/next-gen home theater tech around. Paired with a quality 4K player and HDMI 2.0 cables (but not an overpriced AudioQuest cable), you won't have any regrets. I had the budget for a Sony 900/903e and chose the TCL + the Sony X800 player and some movies. IN NO WAY do I feel like I sacrificed any image or quality. At $599, this TV should be at the top of your list if you're looking for a 55". Lastly, regarding refresh rate, YES, THIS IS A 60Hz....BUT, I'm coming from a plasma which is essentially the best you can get for refresh/motion. I see NO DIFFERENCE with the TCL. I streamed college football, played Forza 6 and watched countless GoPro 4K YouTube videos on this display and NOTHING lags, drags or chases. Literally no idea how this 60Hz performs like a 120, but it does. Again, I can't sing enough praises of this TCL P-Series. Just check it out, you will be very glad you did.

A TV worth your hard earned money

There are two types of people in the world of electronics. 1)- You like/dislike what you see, experience or use. 2) You always have to check benchmarks and numbers about your purchase even after you buy to make yourself feel better. For the category 2)- sorry you really should buy OLED TVs. There is no way around it ATM or you could step out of it and really think what your intended use case is. This TV will satisfy anyone who belongs to category 01) if you are like the majority of people who just wanna play games, movies, pc use and wanna have a really good experience and you wanna squeeze every worth of your hard earned money- just get this TV. Use it for a week, don't even compare/ look up all those numbers that you probably don't even care/ matter to you. Are you one of those people with a specific use case for the TV? If yes, look at your priorities and make an informed decision.. Because this is not a monitor you should be using for your serious photo editing and such. This will definitely serve every casual/ amateur purposes though. Again, 600 dollars is all what you are paying!! Let me reword to make sense to some people- six hundred american currency! 55" 4k Dolby vision Full array local dimming, low input lag, Roku built in- the list goes on and on. The blacks are so nice and dark, I was amazed. Again-i did not compare it to an OLED or a 1000+ dollar tv. Because there was no point- I knew I didn't wanna spend that kinda money on a TV. I knew if i would like what i am seeing and experiencing for a week, there is no reason for me to compare to TV priced more than double. Let me put it this way. If you compare it to another expensive TV and find somethings are inferior on this tv and you decide to dump this and get that expensive tv, maybe a week or two is all that you will care about that superior "quality". Again unless you have any kind of special purposes or use case for a tv, just get this one. At least you won't be dissapointed and regretting after spending your hard earned money on a 1000+ TV. The sound quality is probably horrible depending on room size. The sound is okay for my room size, but most probably won't be for yours. But then most TVs have bad sound. So get yoself a nice sound system or soundbar if your room is medium to large. If small room-try the tv for a week before deciding to invest in a sound system- because that money does not fall from the skies either, you know Now for those with defects and hardware issues- be fair with your reviews please. Maybe try reaching out to best buy or TCL support first before giving one star reviews. If yout support experience turns bad, then give a low star review please. That would make more sense.

Doing some extensive research on TVs led me to this set. It punches WAY above its weight class besting others literally double its price. The Highlights to know about this set: Wide color gamut support for both competing standards of HDR (HDR 10 and Dolby Vision) so when one inevitably goes the way of Betamax, it won't matter for you Full array backlight with local dimming which produces STELLAR blacks and peak brightness gets ridiculous in HDR mode which really makes the on screen image pop that much more Roku TV is actually pretty robust and is much less infuriating than the average smart TV interface. Playing nice with Google's cast interface and having Amazon video in one place is pretty nice and playback for Netflix's 4K HDR content like Stranger Things 2 went seamlessly I would say a fair criticism of this TV is that the corners have a dimmer light coming from them versus the rest of the set but I've only noticed this on a fully white background which doesn't happen terribly often and it almost gives the scene a faint vignette effect which isn't even necessarily unpleasant. Absolutely not a deal breaker for myself and not nearly as egregious as light bleed on edge lit TVs but worth mentioning. Also worth mentioning that the standard model is the P607 and that is what you'll see from review sites like RTINGS (best resource in my opinion. Extremely thorough). The P605 here at Best Buy omits the headphone jack on the remote for private listening which is the easiest $50 concession I've ever made. Usually you expect a TV in the $1200 range to have most of what you are looking for but infuriatingly enough the next highest set will have it . There is no such compromise here. This is the top dog from TCL and it absolutely shows. It has every feature you could want and with both HDR format support, it is as future proof as you could possibly hope for. I can't speak for longevity since I've had it less than a full month but with the kind of quality hardware this thing packs and even the minor details like the full metal backplate versus the all plastic affair of other budget sets, I have no reason to believe it won't be competitive in that regard as well. If this TV is in your budget or even comes in significantly under budget go for it. You can best this set with LG's OLED and some of Sony and Samsung's upper echelon stuff but this is a textbook example of diminishing returns. Its really that good.

I am a very experience electronics/technology user, so this review will be long and detailed. I am constantly monitoring new electronic and technology and this television is by far the best buy (no pun intended) out there! For what you get, from the picture to the internal features, nothing else compares at this price or below. And in many cases at a much higher price point. The 4K picture is and has been reviewed by the top electronic/technology websites as comparing to tvs in the thousands of dollar range. The 60hz refresh rate along with the 120hz enhancement technology gives this tv a smooth performance. No motion lag on 4k Blu-rays whatsoever! I am not a gamer, but again the major tech websites say this tv performs fantastic with smooth gaming also. This model does not allow you to go deep into calibration as the P607 does, but it has just enough adjustment to ensure you get the right settings for your rooms brightness. And the 72 local contrast zones and the NBP Photon technology make for a fantastic picture! Most people don't even know what calibrating a tv is anyway, so this may not be important to everyone. I must say that each picture adjustment has an explanation of what it accomplishes right next to it, so that will help novices understand what each adjustment does, which is a big plus. This tv is HDR10 and Dolby Vision compatible, which gives you every option currently available for the best picture with 4K blu-rays or 4K streaming content. Just make sure you own or purchase a Full 4K Blu-ray player with matching compatibility. It also has Dolby Atmos for the latest in sound technology, so if you have a Dolby Atmos soundbar connected, you will get full advantage. If you have a AV Receiver, then it will depend on whether it is Dolby Atmos capable to get Dolby Atmos sound. The tv speakers are about what you would expect for just about any flat panel tv. They are good enough for someone who really doesn't care about great sound, but if you do care, at least purchase a decent soundbar or a AV receiver and a speaker combination that will suit your expectations and your budget. Having the ROKU platform and processor built-in is simply awesome, especially for those who don't already have access to another full streaming platform. You'll have access to pretty much any streaming app you would want! The onscreen channel guide performs better than the high-end tv I replaced with this one due to failure. I like that you have the option to turn off the HDR and Dolby Vision pop-ups. I have a Chromecast connected, so I can use Google Home to turn the tv on and off with voice command, but for some reason the off command isn't working properly, which is more than likely a compatibility issue between the Google and TCL. Hopefully they will rectify the problem, but it's definitely not a big issue. I don't like that upon powering the tv up, it wants to switch to the active Chromecast immediately unless you cancel in 5 seconds. You can turn that feature off, but it will then not recognize when any other device connected is powered on and switch to that device automatically provided the CEC control is activated on all devices. So, I'm dealing with it. The only major annoyance for advanced users is the very limited direct functions of the remote control. This can be overcome fairly easily by downloading the Roku remote app to your phone or tablet, which gives you much more control at an instant than the physical remote which is included with the tv. The physical remote does do most of the basic commands and resembles the original Roku remote with a power button added. By no means a deal breaker though. Don't let this issue prevent you from the excitement you will get with the purchase of this tv at a great price! There are only 3 HDMI ports on this tv, but if you have an AV Receiver, this is not a concern. Otherwise, for those who have multiple game consoles to go along with a Blu-ray player and a cable or satellite box, this might be unattractive. An HDMI switch box with multiple ports is an alternative. The USB DVR feature is a nice touch for those who don't have a stand alone DVR already. Although it is limited in function. In summary, this tv at the current non-sale price is by far the best deal you will find whatsoever. What you get will absolutely blow your mind, especially if this is your first 4k tv experience. Even if you have other 4k tv's, this one will impress greatly! And, when you remember you only paid $599, you will do a little dance! I would recommend buying the extended warranty with Best Buy. They always back up their products and they provide much more comprehensive coverage than the manufacturer, no matter who they are. It will be worth it if you have any problems.

    Beautiful picture

I have been using this T.V. for about a full day now, and the picture is so beautiful. I used YouTube to watch a lot of 4k videos and they were stunning. The added benefit of having a roju already in this T.V. is a major plus. Easy to access Netflix, or Amazon and a lot of other streaming services. The only small complaint I have about this T.V. is the stand legs are very far apart, so just be mindful of what you will set the T.V. on. I only had a small T.V. stand and now I am using a full table temporarily until I buy a media center that fits the T.V. it's just something small to be mindful of.

    Amazing job TCL

Never thought I would buy a TCL. TCL has surprised me in every way and saved me a lot of money. First time using Roku and I like it, I was able to connect a friend's Frontier FIOS account and get a lot of channels. 4K with Dolby vision looks amazing. For the first time in years I look forward to new movie releases on Blu-ray with the sole purpose of watching it in 4k HDR. Words can't describe the picture quality for 599.99.

    Great 4k tv with hdr10

Flat out, very impressed with this tv. I have an Xbox one X and I was looking for a TV that supported all that features, and boy does this do that. I'll have a picture showing it but this TV is great if you have an Xbox one X. The price is right on point for what you get. My only gripe is the remote, it's cheap and is very confusing to use if you use over the air TV like myself. Other than that, if you are looking for a TV that supports 4k and hdr10, this is it. Finding the option for hdr is difficult, but it is there, trust me, I spent hours looking for it.

    Most Bang For The Buck

I imagine many of you have used ROKU at some time or another - if you have this is the same with a few TV controls added. If you have never used a ROKU before - no fears - it is probably the easiest TV Operating System to learn how to use. ROKU is a very intuitive interface. You will be able to learn the basics by just trying. The remote is simple; no 30 buttons here. The sound is about the same as any TV, and will do in a pinch. But you can pass a digital signal to a sound bar or sound system. I use a Yamaha Dolby Sound Bar and it has great dimensional sound. Not as good as my Atmos system in the family room, but nice for a master bedroom plus sound bars take up no additional space for all intents and purposes. The great thing about this TV is the Dolby Vision. I have some top end TVs, one of which I got from Magnolia in Best Buy. They are two and three years old - both SUHD - both have HDR. The TLC has a better picture than either of them. And it cost almost 75% less. I mean walking upstairs from the family room with the SUHD and looking at the TLC easily allows one to tell the difference. When you look at Dolby Vision vs regular HD it is a drastic change for the better. When you look at Dolby Vision HDR vs HDR10 it is a clear and real improvement. Not to mention Dolby Video is backwards compatible to HDR10. The only down side is that it is the 178 degree by 178 degree viewing angle - beyond that performance at greater angles deteriorates pretty quickly. Check where you are putting the TV and the max angle of viewing - in my large master bedroom the 178 degree limitation was no problem at all. I am sorry, but for the economy priceof the TCL55P605(remote with no voice or earphone jack) or the TCL55P607(enhanced remote) cannot be beat. There are other TCL 55" models but be careful, they may not have the 72 Zone backlighting or they may not have Dolby Vision at all. This is the Best Bang for the Buck TV on the market in my opinion. Maybe next year they will come out with a 65" solution.

Best Value proposition on the market

The TCL P series has one of the best value propositions on the market. I researched TVs extensively before buying and boiled my search down to the TCL P series, the Vizio P series, and the Sony XBR900. The Vizio was only slightly better at almost doable the price. And the XBR was the best but much more. I decided on this TV for two reasons. I know I want an OLED TV when they drop in price, so I will hold off on paying more than a thousand on a TV when I can get an OLED. for now, this TV is sufficiently future proof, with support for DOLBY and a slew of important features that I will be happy enough. At a comfortable $600 at the time of this writing, the TCL is packed with a ton of features seen more commonly on models twice it's price. The contrast is great, the roku is just an added bonus. One thing I will say is DO NOT shop for a 4k TV. This is a 4K TV yes, and it looks great. But 4k should be just one of your shopping criteria (and not even the most important). As of this writing, I can safely say 4k won't be a defining attribute of your viewing experience. Features like HDR and local dimming contribute much more to a great picture. This TV comes with those features and executes them well.

    Decent gaming TV

Written after 2 weeks of owning. Good (very good) blacks, responsive menu, sound is clear and volume is loud when set at halfway point. Decent picture settings out of the box. (But I am not picky, hence 5 stars). Used mostly as screen for gaming (via HDMI from PC), but also used for Netflix, youtube, and Roku. All work well, intuitive behavior. One annoyance was that pressing (*) on some Netflix screens will activate an persistent info box, without any warning on how to remove. (Eventually figured out that this happens if (*) is pressed on the movie description screen). HDR/Vision10 gaming options activate (Mass effect Andromeda, MEA) with the tv connected to PC. No noticeable gameplay lag. Some issues with image syncing during gaming: when going from a windowed mode on my computer monitor to full screen mode on the TCL, there is severe flashing of green on the tv. To fix, I must go into the game MEA settings and toggle the full screen refresh rate (e.g. from 60Hz to 30Hz, or from 30Hz to 60Hz). Then the flashing issues disappear, until the next time I toggle window mode on the pc. Using HDMI 3, which has ARC, gives the option on PC to route PC audio through the TV speakers. Lacks picture-in-picture function. No web browser. Wifi connection works well, responsive with YouTube 4k clips. 4k not tested with Netflix. Annoying ads with the free channels (Roku, tubi, etc.) Roku phone app works well. Can send tv audio to phone, and from phone to a wireless headset, no apparent delay. Voice search on app also works fine. TV remote works fine. No dead or stuck pixels that I can see. Depending on the image/movie scene, "clouds" of light (from backlight) might be perceptible at some times from corners of the TV screen. I find the effect minor/ negligible. List price was ~$600.

Title says it all. Really happy with this tv so far. Upgraded from a pretty decent 40” HDTV I’d had for years that has so far always been a good set to me, but I just felt that I needed something a little more bit more suitable for my home theater/game room ever since I have gotten a little more serious about building an above-average audio setup that itself seems to be a project of mine that has taken on a life of its own, and so I finally got the surround sound to a point that I felt that it was about time that the picture quality needed to at least be a little more on par with the sound quality. I did quite a bit of in-depth research over the course of several weeks/a couple of months, and although my ultimate goal was and still is to eventually get a very nice OLED set that still probably won’t be one from the top tier since I’m definitely more passionate about the audio side of my build, I just do not currently have the right infrastructure to properly support a tv of that size and technological level. I had narrowed my search down to this TCL or either the Vizio M series or P series. After reading all the stats and pouring over tons of both professional and average consumer reviews and going back and rereading them all again and again, I hesitantly felt that I had made up my mind as to which one I was going to get. I will admit, I was prettt anxious at first about going with TCL, especially since I had absolutely zero experience with any of their products and no knowledge of who they are as a company, whereas I have plenty of hands-on time with many Vizio products that all have left me at the very least not at all unsatisfied with their performance if not downright impressed. So far, though, I have to say that I am very happy with my purchase! I really love the built-in Roku platform a lot more that I had thought I would even though I already have a stand-alone Roku player, it’s just the convenience of having it already built into the tv so that I don’t have to reach for another remote. And the picture and features are very much top notch in my book, and even more so when you figure how much this tv costs compared to all the others out there that cost hundreds of dollars more than this one and only give you the exact same quality and feature sets (if not actually less features and slightly worse quality). All in all, I am VERY happy with my new tv and would definitely both recommend this same one to all my friends as well as go back and buy it all over again if I had to!

I read the reviews for this TV online. Mainly was looking for a TV to use for 4k HDR gaming on PS4 Pro & XB1X. Also movies in 4k HDR via VUDU, iTunes, disc. This TV has a very very low input lag for gaming, the HDR supports Dolby Vision, it looks beautiful. If you are looking for a TV for 4K gaming this IMO the best TV you could buy under $1500, and its quite a bit cheaper. The built in Roku is an added bonus, once updated VUDU, Youtube, Netflix, Amazon TV and others support 4k HDR streaming and it looks amazing. Don't be scared off by the name, this TV has been professionally reviewed with awesome results online. Check it out.

I did a lot of research and tried a couple tvs before buying this one. Compared to Samsung and LG tvs I tried in this price range, the tcl p series TV was the best. This is why: - The display is great. If hdr, Dolby vision, and wide color gamet is not enough, the FALD is a great feature. The blacks look good and the colors are bright and vibrant. I also tried the TCL C series (from Costco).and the FALD makes a huge difference. - Upscaling of lower than 4k resolution works well. - Out of the different smart tv interfaces, I like roku the best. It is simple, fast, and regularly updated. Here are my cons: - Unsurprisingly, the built in audio is not great but that is every tv now. - If you want to use a sound bar, you will have to use an IR extender because they will all block the TV IR receiver. - Viewing angles could be a little better. - Reflection could be a little better. Overall, I am very pleased with the TV. Everything looks great and runs smoothly. My only concern is that I don't know how reliable TCL tvs are. Will it last 10 years or die after 1? I don't know. But at this price and all the great features included, I am willing to take the gamble.
