It was defective right out of the box. Weird blots throughout the bottom of the screen and a large dark spot in the middle of the screen. I had to go back and forth with TCL Support and go lengths to prove the obvious… that the display was defective… After a little over a month they finally agreed to send me a replacement. Hopefully this one won’t be damaged too.

I wanted to start out and say I am not a professional TV reviewer. However, given that this TV has very limited reviews and press, I wanted to talk about it and share my opinions. Here are some of my thoughts and I'm open to answering any questions that you guys may have. Picture Quality Right off the bat I have to say the picture quality of this TV is outstanding. TCL has come a long way with their processing and panels. Despite the lack of mini LED, this TV is incredibly bright and has awesome HDR performance. I don't have a way to measure it, but it easily meets it's 1,000 nit rating and is significantly brighter than most QLED TVs I've seen. Black levels are really good too. If an OLED is a 10 out of 10, this TV is easily a 9.5 out of 10. It's not perfect blacks but it is close. HDR highlights are very well pronounced and O see minimal halo effect when there is white over black. I doubt anyone would be disappointed using this in a bright room and it is almost too bright for a dim room unless you turn the brightness down to about 50%. Processing and Upscaling Upscaling performance is dramatically improved this year compared to older TCL TVs. I do not think this is as good as the Sony XR processor, but it's getting pretty close and is definitely making Sony and other mainstream brands feel a bit overpriced. This TV is able to turn HD content to 4K pretty effectively. I did notice a slight soap opera effect with some movies and I'm still trying to tweak the settings. I am disappointed that Dolby vision forces motion processing and you cannot disable the soap opera effect that it is causing in some content. Operating System TCL has really come a long way with their Android implementation on their TVs. Previous versions have been absolutely terrible, filled with performance issues and bugs. In my week with the TV I have experienced almost zero bugs and it is a very fluid experience. The only major issue I have had so far is moonlight drops connection for some reason potentially a memory leak but I am not sure yet and still trying to figure it out. Compared to Roku Android TV is a huge upgrade. It runs very well. The biggest negative is when you first take the TV out of your box. You are looking at about an hour of updates and downloads before you can use the TV. Always disappointing to get a brand new TV and have to wait so long for it to update and download it's initial apps. Sound Previous TCL TVs have had pretty terrible speakers in my experience. The ones on the q7 are passable. Not amazing speakers but definitely serviceable. And if you don't have room for a sound bar I think they are fine. Build Quality The TV does have pretty weak build quality. The back panel feels like cheap plastic. From the front it looks very nice. Value I paid $600 for mine and I have to say this is easily one of the best values on the market today. None of the mainstream brand TVs come close to the performance this TV offers at $600 Compared to 2022's 6 series Compared to last year's model the 646, I actually found the q7 to be brighter and have better processing. This was surprising because the 646 has mini LED but the q7 doesn't seem to be held back by its omission. Drawbacks I honestly struggled to find negatives with this TV at the price point it's at. It's definitely not an OLED, but it's also not priced anywhere near one. Motion processing does need to be improved. It has the tendency to create the soap opera effect more than other TVs I've used. You cannot use game mode outside of the inputs on the TV. Moonlight running directly on the TV cannot be put into game mode. I wish there was a more neutral picture mode. Movie mode is close but a little bit warm for me. There isn't a good way to disable Dolby vision. While most content looks best in Dolby vision, I wish I could disable it by choice. Not a huge deal but some content looks better without it. The setup process takes over an hour I hope this was helpful for prospective buyers. Overall I will say this is a great TV and easily worth the $600 they are asking for it.

WOW! That's all I can say... YES, I wanted a 4k UHD $5000.00 TV, but.... I don't have a $5000.00 budget. I'm a smart shopper, with a love for high quality image quality, but a lot of other things to spend my money on. So... when it came time to replace our TV, I went on the hunt for "best bang for the buck", and researched the HECK out of TV's, and HERE WE ARE! 1) The ease of setup is amazing. It's not going to be instantly ready, but the step by step guide, directed by this TV, is simple and very non-frustrating. 2) 120hz! TRUE 120hz! It's amazing for gaming, etc. I tie in with everything, PS4, Xbox (4k), Nintendo Switch, etc. I've even tied in my PC, and the images are sharp, crisp, and keep up with the action amazingly well. Even standing up close, you're going to struggle to see imperfections. Casting from an iPhone or android is beautiful too, and easy as it can be. The in-TV apps are done well too, and you can even set up your AppleTV account right in the same APP menu, it works quite well. 3) UHD - spot on. The blacks are black, colors are amazing, lines are crisp. Anything put out 1080p and higher is INCREDIBLE. Dolby Vision, IMAX output, AUTO game mode when I switch to a gaming machine, Freesync, it's got it all. Plus, this thing gets BRIGHT, so no worries about watching in a well lit room at all. 4) 4 HDMI ports! 1 with eARC, which I use to tie into my sound bar, and I get volume control with 1 remote. 5) The remote is simple, natural to use, the voice function works amazingly, and lights up for those dim rooms. There's very little learning curve as it's set up that well. 6) The sound is adequate, but it's the same with any TV really. Hook it up to a quality sound bar with subwoofer and surround speakers (I've got an ATMOS sound bar that makes our living room a theater) and you don't have to worry about sound. 7) As said before, it's not a $5000.00 TV, there are better out there, easily, but for the price of $500.00 (sale price), there is nothing that gets anywhere near the image quality of this TV. In fact, side by side with TV's around the $1500.00-$2000.00 range even, 97% of the people aren't going to see any difference at all. If you're on a budget, like I was, and you're wanting that WOW factor from a new TV without your wallet crying, this is the TV that you want! Even if you have a bigger budget, but would rather spend some of that hard earned money on a fishing trip, or kayak accessories, DON'T SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY for a lesser TV! Look at this one and see why I love it so much!

Great TV for the price. Has great features for great picture quality. Has Dolby vision. HDR 10 and HDR 10 plus. Has Dolby Atmos sound. Great for gaming. Has 2 HDMI 2.1 ports. And a 120 hrz panel for smooth gaming for consoles and you can even hook up your gaming PC to this tv as well. Games look awesome on this tv. Movies look amazing. I was going to buy a gaming monitor for my gaming room. But a good monitor is so expensive. So I bought this tv instead. And it works great for a gaming monitor and watching movies. This is a 2023 model. But it still has all the options you need for a great picture and a great gaming experience. And it's a QLED. I highly recommend getting this tv while it's on sale. I'm very happy with this tv. It's a great tv. But definitely get a sound bar.

The smooth 120hz really makes a difference in visuals coming from a standard 60hz TV. The image quality is bright and beautiful once you get it out of the Low Power setting which is how it comes out the factory. I currently have it in a bright room and it works just fine in auto HDR mode. Google TV is simple and pleasing to navigate through. My only gripe is the sound quality. It's a bit tinny but nothing a soundbar can't fix. I picked up a TCL Alto 8 sound bar for 90$ and now it's perfect.

Returned Samsung Q60 for This One!

I originally purchased the Samsung Q60 since it was on sale for Black Friday. My Hisense QLED from a few years ago developed some sick screen burn. My hope was to get an upgrade or at least equal value to that TV. After a week with the Samsung and doing more research, including reviews, I returned it for the TCL. I was worried since I figured Samsung is the best, and perhaps they are in some areas. I am so glad I got this TV so far. After some calibration, the picture is amazing! For the value, it’s an excellent choice and I would recommend it for sure. I certainly like the picture more than the Samsung. Features are easy to use and the remote has a backlight which is pretty dope. Don’t sleep on this one!

My 8 year old 49” LG had developed blue splotches all across the screen. After reading various reviews, and finding someone with the same issue as I mentioned who bought this tv, I figured I would give it a try. After having this 55” TCL, I am not disappointed at all. Can’t believe I’ve gone this long with only 30 fps refresh rate for gaming. My games look incredible on this tv compared to my last. Only issue I’ve come across is having to use the system restart in setting due frame dropping. I believe this is due to the tv going into a sleep mode instead of a full power down mode. I know a lot of reviews would knock this down a star or 2 because of this but it’s not a big deal to restart the tv. In some reviews, some people threw caution in regards to the operating system running slow/lagging. I believe these reviews were written closer to when this model first released. I have not experienced this issue compared to how my previous tv’s os performed. I cannot believe I tolerated it as long as I did. Overall, I’m satisfied with picture quality, gaming experience, and capability this television provides at the price point I purchased for.

I know so people may have experienced bad impressions on this product because of small nooks with the tv such as damages and flickering. I would like to say the flickering is caused bu your input device and depending on if its a console or not and how to fix it. Though for my experience im giving it a 10/10 because it suits my needs for gaming, has 4k 144hz if I ever need it, which im currently running for my PS5. The HDR is fantastic,i have it set to ten. The Brightness is amazing, (super, super bright) it also adjust the brightness on how bright the room is,that ive noticed. The volume is fantastic, its loud on 30. I can go on and on for this tv!

I bought this in a pinch after dropping my previous TV. This TV was an absolute steal for the price. The picture quality is incredible, and if you're into video games, the Game Master feature is awesome. It can support 120fps (for games that also support it) and the improvement is night and day. I especially like the aim aid, which is essentially a custom cross hair overlay that stays dead center.

This tv has it all for WAY less than Sony, Samsung, and LG. Full array lighting and local dimming, 2.1 hdmi, 120hz refresh rate for next gen console gaming, huge color gamut for cinematic movie experience, i could go on and on. More well known brands would be priced at $1000 +. I paid $700 for a 65” version of this TV and this is the most bang for my buck I’ve ever gotten.

So far this tv has been great. Good picture quality, refresh rate, and decent audio. I mostly use it when gaming. While there's not many games that utilize 120hz the ones that do look crisp and colorful. It has good but not great contrast when compared to an Oled, but will definitely be better than any standard 4k led backlight television you can find. A great choice for casual veiwers and those not looking to spend Oled money.
