Customers have good things to say about the 65" Class 6 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Roku TV, particularly its picture quality, price, and Roku operating system. Many customers rave about the superb 4K HDR picture quality and find that it offers great value for the price. The Roku OS is also widely praised for its user-friendly interface and rich HDR content.
However, there are some concerns about the remote control's quality and the TV's durability, with a few customers reporting issues such as vertical banding and a short lifespan.

I didn't want to purchase a new TV. My old DLP set worked just fine... until it didn't. And, I wasn't sold on HDR and Dolby Vision. But, the research said it made a big difference. I couldn't really tell at the store. But when I set it up at home and streamed some Dolby Vision content from Netflix, there's no going back. I re-watched Black Panther just because the colors were so vibrant.
Sure, this isn't as nice as the $3000 models. TLC plays tricks with the backlighting in regions to make the screen dark where it needs to be, and very bright where it needs to be. The result is incredible contrast. It isn't quite the same as OLED, but it's almost there. And for 1/3 the price, it is close enough.
The built in Roku is snappy and works great. The Best Buy model doesn't have the voice control remote, which is a very small bummer. I don't miss it.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase.

This is a great tv for the $7-900 price range. Good HDR and color(once calibrated) and some features normally only see on much more expensive sets like local dimming. There’s some noticeable light bleed at the corners on HDR content but it’s not a deal breaker especially at this price point.

I really wanted this TV to work out because of how good the picture quality is at this price point. I actually bought this TV at a retail store, when I told the sales rep that I wanted it, he actually suggested that I buy a different TV in the same price range because the amount of issues they have had with this TV. He called it a "lottery TV". Well I wanted this TV over the other one because of the image quality and bought it anyway. I got it home, set it up, and watched tv for about 2 hours. Then the Image just froze, after restarting the TV it now has just green and white lines. I really wanted this TV but I cant justify spending $1,000 on something that might not last very long.

Initially I was steered away from TCL after reading reviews concerning quality. The salesperson also swayed me to a Samsung even though the TCL picture in the store was superior to the Samsung. Took the Samsung home and had second thoughts. I returned the Samsung, unopened (thank you Best Buy) and went with the TCL and picked up an extended warranty.
After 2 months we continue to be impressed by this TV. Easy and quick Roku interface, fantastic pic and easy set up. For those OTA users the tuner picks up twice as many stations as my Tivo.
Previous TV was a 50" Vizio and the difference is dramatic.
With the larger TV we picked up a used WiU Game system. Us old farts are enjoying gaming again as it is so fun on a big screen with a great picture.

Great picture w/o ‘banding’ issue

Using this TV for about 9 months now and the picture quality is great, especially at this price point. I did experience the ‘dirty screen effect’ or banding issue that some of these TVs have, but it does not seem to happen much anymore. When it did happen, all I would do is reset the TV from the settings menu and the banding would be gone once the TV came back on. New to Roku but immediately liked the interface. It is functional and smooth and has all the app’s that I use and more. Even the sound is good enough for me in my space. Happy with my purchase but had to deduct a star because of the banding issue. Fortunately it did not happen often and when it did, i might be 30 minutes or an hour into a program before I noticed. However, no one should have to deal with that on a brand new TV.

First off we won the panel lottery, no banding or vignette issues at all . Got this on sale for 799$ got the protection plan and A Sony Soundbar w/ Subwoofer so I haven’t really used the Tv speakers . Now I’ve had the LGUK6300, Samsung NU7100 and the TCL 5 Series . TCL 5 Series is even better than those LG & Samsung . Basically wanted to head to the premium level of TVs . Decided to go with the 65” 6 Series and man this is the best picture quality I have seen . It’s almost as good as saying can 4k get any better than this? The Blacks are very Deep and what’s lighting up on the screen pops out at you . The HDR? weather its Dolby Vision or HDR10 it looks amazing I’m well impressed well pleased, the wide color gamut and the Local Dimming does this tv wonders . Stunning crisp clear picture highly recommend this tv . Can’t wait to see what TCL has planned this year for the 6 series . I’m only 2 weeks in so my experience so far gotta be 5 stars .

I was very hyped to get this TV after researching 4K TVs for months. I had my heart set on this one due to the general consensus that it was the best TV for the price range. I was familiar with the Roku OS and its reliability so I was looking forward to that as well.
TV came well packaged and didn't notice any of the reported banding issues (though the 4 corners are definitely dark spots). The Best Buy version of the TV does not come with an RF remote so you must point the remote at the sensor. The sensor is located on the bottom center of the TV, so if that's where you put your soundbar, be prepared for an inconvenience.
Fired away some Netflix 4K content and was initially blown away. Then the problems started. The screen would flicker ever so subtly but enough to distract. I thought, okay, maybe it was just this show. Nope. Different show, same thing. I thought, okay, maybe it's my internet. Hooked up a standalone Roku, and no problems at all. So right away, I noticed the Roku smart features were much weaker than a standalone Roku.
I was disappointed, but I thought it was something I could live with. I would just hook up a standalone Roku to the Roku TV and still enjoy the same content (kinda redundant but whatever).
Then the TV would do something I've never seen before. I'd pick a show on Netflix, but the video wouldn't play (only audio). Then I thought, okay, something buggy in Netflix. Nope. Amazon Video did the same thing. Then I thought, okay, the apps are messing up. Nope. Live TV via a DirecTV set top box did the same. Turned off and on the TV and still the same thing. Wasn't until I unplugged the TV completely that this was resolved. This happened a few more times and was enough for me to return the TV and get a Samsung NU8000 (which I am much happier with). And thus ended my journey into the TCL 6 Series.
Sorry TCL. I wanted to like your product. I really did. But this was a terrible experience.

After LOTS of research, I purchased this one based on all the rave reviews from owners and professionals. I like it. I don't LOVE it. Sometimes the picture is great, like I'm standing in the same room. Sometimes, not so much. The 60Hz refresh rate SUCKS for sports and other live action things where it is super noticeable because of the pixelation. Not sure why they didn't do a minimum 120Hz with the other features. Pretty good built in speakers. Roku is easy platform to navigate. Honestly, I probably would have been just as happy with a 500 set and the extra $ in my pocket.

I bought this TV because it has dynamically controlled backlighting zones, is 4K, is 65" and provides a high quality picture. At under $1k it is hard to find a TV with nearly as high quality a picture and the TCL TV even comes with built in Roku.
As added pros, it comes with a OTA tuner, HDMI Audio Return Channel, and both Wifi and Ethernet port. All things that sometimes get sacrificed on cheaper TVs.
The Roku interface works really well, especially considering I don't have cable. It supports all of the services I use both commercial (Amazon, Netflix, Disney Jr, etc...) and local server hosted (Plex, Roku DLNA client). The Roku interface is responsive if using their remote, but does seem to fail to respond to commands if using other interfaces over the network (i.e. Harmony Hub).
My TV is wall mounted, so I can't speak to the stands, but at this size I don't know why you wouldn't wall mount just for tip over safety.

While not perfect, this is most definitely a 5-star 4K TV, given it's incredible picture quality and features for the price! The Pro's are: fantastic picture quality, brightness, blacks, Roku interface and value. While the Con's are: off-angle viewing picture quality deteriorates the picture quality quickly, mild darkening within 1" of the 4 corners, very mild DSE (only noticeable when looking for it on very specific content). Overall, IMHO this 4K TV is the best value of 2018 if you want a fantastic picture for under $1K

Pros:
Really good HDR brightness and standard def brightness that make bright elements of the image pop.
Roku interface is easy to use.
Remote listening through android Roku app is a cool feature.
The silver finish on the metal housing looks nice.
Barely noticeable dirty screen affect and vignetting. You have to be really looking at solid gray background to even notice it.
Cons:
My biggest issue with the TV is the slow black response time which leads black smearing and Moiré on things like chain mail armor, fences, panning and fly over shots of building and cities, car grills, and dark objects that have bright highlights e.g. people with black hair in 4k content. Another more specific example is in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, the coat Newt wears the whole movie flickers. This seems to be something that mostly affects the 65" from what I read. Almost all of the professional reviews are for the 55" or 75" one of the only reviews for the 65" I found reported some of the same issue I have had.
Local dimming does a decent job most of the time, but some times it falls on its face and the blooming is really noticeable. Not something I'm too hard on the TV about given the price point
Only 3 HDMI ports is limiting when you have a Switch, PS4, 4K Blu Ray player, and a gaming PC.
The power on indicator light blinks when it is not connected to the internet which is annoying, but not something that will bother most people.
Roku interface ads are annoying.
Only being able to change some image settings through the Roku android app.
Overall I have spent hundreds of hours watching content on the TV and 90% of the time enjoying it, but when the image issues pop up it's jarring and takes me out of the watching experience.

best buy version b/c amazon's version is unavailable in 65 inch. I love this tv. picked it up last night from best buy and stayed up for hours looking at 4k and hdr on youtube and Netflix. the hdr and dolbyvision logo briefly come up in the top right corner when applicable content is viewed. netflix reached 4k quality in a minute, even at my 15MB/sec rate. youtube buffers for about 30 seconds then plays in 4k quality. it's easy to set up and straight out of the box has superb picture quality. I have zero banding issues or light bleed. I am glad I waited and was patient for this tv. setting are easy to change while playing content in case you want more brightness or more contrast. stunning picture. absolutely stunning

TCL 65" Initial Review

There's a reason why CNET gave this series the accolades! Performance vs. price is an astounding value. We purchased 2x 65" and 1x 55" TCL series 6 televisions to replace our aging Pioneer Kuro plasmas. The picture quality rivals units costing significantly more. At this time, it made sense for us to avoid OLED units, these get you close for 3x less. HDR Netflix content or 4k discs from the Oppo look amazing. There are some concessions to make (i.e. processing quality & reflections on the screen), but, there small ones.
An absolute bargain in my opinion.

Let's be honest, this TV isn't gonna stand toe-to-toe with a $2000+ OLED. But when you can grab it on sale for half that or less, it's impossible to beat. The picture quality is excellent, especially for the price point. The Roku OS is functional and snappy, making it a breeze to use.
The only downsides are that it (like many TVs of this size/type) has some corner vignetting that can be noticeable on light scenes. The included remote (the only difference between this R615 and the more generally available R617) is also IR instead of RF, meaning it is line-of-sight only, which is a let down.
Overall, an excellent TV at a fantastic price.

For the money you are not going to find a better TV. If you take the time to read online reviews the TCL 6 series is a hit with nearly every review company around. Including Cnet which rated the TCL 6 series as their 2018 & 2019 editors choice for top TV.
The reviews are spot on. I had a very expensive LG QLED prior to this TV that had a problem and quit working. The TCL 6 series 65" was WAY cheaper and the picture quality is fantastic. The Roku operating system blows the LG system out of the water not even close. The roku platform is simple, fast, clean, easy, not glitchy. If your in the market for a TV and not wanting to spend significantly and get a great TV this is it. It is one of my better purchases when factoring price and quality.

I find that blacks often show up red or blotchy. The HDR is a non-feature as far as I can tell. I honestly don't see temendous improvement vs standard 4k lighting or appearance. Not impressed on those two fronts. But for a $700 65" display, it's excellent. Brights and 4k are superb. I'm an Apple TV fan but the built in Roku is convenient albeit less refined than apple. Remote very Roku centric which has pluses (simplicity) and drawbacks (lack of variety of function buttons).
Love the fact that the Apple TV remote turns the TV on and the TV automatically switches to the Apple TV input.

Tried the 55 earlier this year. Very bad banding. But great color and brightness.
I decieded to try the 65 inch hoping qa was fixed. As before, excellent brightness and color. And no banding!!! But the fald started going out when I watched Deadpool 2. That’s a white background in the photo. You can see various areas where the leds appear to have acted up extremely clearly. Unplugging it and redtarting brought it back for now, but there’s something failing in this 1 day old tv. Sad days.
For the price, it’s excellent so long as you win a lottery.
