This TV has the best overall picture quality for the price. It has black levels that are comparable to an OLED display but it can get far brighter while retaining the very high contrast ratio. And it is fantastic for gaming with low latency that makes it feel very responsive. 9.5/10 TV. only issue i have had is when I first got it. I was watching a movie and the colors were glitching. I restarted the TV and it hasn't done that since.

This TV, excluding the issues, is phenomenal. Amazing contrast, very bright for a $1k TV, HDR/DV looks amazing, probably the best local dimming you could realistically expect from non-OLED. Audio is quite impressive. I like the tucked in stand legs allowing it to fit on much smaller media stands. Remote uses bluetooth to connect instead of just RF (I believe it also uses RF) so it works from literally any angle. No aiming the remote looking for that RF sweetspot. However, there are two main issues. Biggest being, you guessed it, the amazingly slow and buggy UI. I've had this TV for nearing 2 weeks and below is my list of bugs experienced so far: TV crashing. Paused a movie on Netflix, went to resume it a few min later, it just showed a static grey screen and only played audio and then just completely froze up requiring a hard reboot. It's always embarrassing when you're with a friend and this happens to your brand new $1k tv while your 4 year old $300 Samsung never had an issue beyond the bad picture. Incredibly laggy menu. This is mostly only an issue when the TV first boots up. It also seems to have an issue with devices waking the TV using HDMI, such as turning on my Nintendo Switch with the controller. TV wakes up and then volume is veeeery slow to respond to inputs, talking 2-3 second delay between actions. Lag changing volume when using HDMI arc for audio. So the above lag were isolated issues, as I noted. Not an issue 95% of the time. However, I upgraded my speakers and am using the Klipsch Fives with HDMI Arc and now that it goes through Arc, the volume is ALWAYS incredibly laggy to respond to inputs from the remote. It's very bad, and the main reason I'm returning this TV for the LG C1. It's just not worth it anymore, it's become more of a headache than it's worth. I can hold the volume down button on the remote and it will take 20 seconds to go from 50 to 15 volume. Insane. Rapidly tapping volume works a bit better, but still 1 click =/= 1 volume step. That delay acts like a buffer between actions, so the delay has to finish before my next input will be accepted. It's insane. Not sure if this is a bug, but I have it plugged into my PC via HDMI 2.1 and whenever I turn my PC on, the monitors will all stay asleep until I turn the TV on once, then I can turn it back off and they will stay awake for the rest of the day until I reboot. Only solution I've found is unplugging the HDMI entirely, which is not a real solution. I tried every menu option I could regarding sleep, power saving, wake from HDMI etc, nothing fixed it. Also, anytime I turn the TV on, all my monitors flicker like a new monitor was just plugged in. So, if the monitor when turned off is "not plugged in" then why the heck is it keeping all my monitors asleep until I turn it on or unplug it? So irritating. NOW FOR THE SECOND ISSUE - This is inherent to the technology of the TV, it's the bloom/local dimming. There is constantly a white bloom around any character in a dark scene. Subtitles essentially need to be turned off as well as they will just come on in FULL ~850NIT BRIGHTNESS during a dark scene and is so distracting and blinding. Like someone shining a flashlight in your eyes from the bottom 1/4 of the screen. They also have so much bloom around them, also quite distracting. I have local dimming set to "low" as suggested by most reviewers, it's still pretty bad. From reviews I saw, this is comparative to the QN95A, the $2k Samsung "variant" of this TV. I'm amazed that people pay this much for TVs with bloom. I'd rather have an OLED that only lasts 5 years and enjoy it the entire time than deal with this headache anymore. Other nitpicky issues, only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports yet 1 is for Arc so if you plan to use it for audio then you really only get 1 port for 4k120. I get it, eArc needs 2.1 and this is a budget TV, but it still sucks. Google TV's UI just isn't good. Its suggestions are only from HBO and Hulu, but won't show Netflix or Prime. It's hit or miss on what it decides to integrate with. I can't get any basic TV channels to show up. I don't care, I won't use them, but this thing has a tuner in it, right? I should get basic channels, same as my 4 year old $300 Samsung, yet I don't. Doesn't come with an internet browser installed and searching for it is... weird, it's called "BrowseHere", doesn't even look like a TCL app and just looks like literal malware on the Play Store. Conclusion: good TV, bad software, bad blooming but for $1k it's good. I've just decided that this price point is an awkward place. You should, imo, either go with a cheaper TV for half the price without the local dimming and accept that that's where your budget is, or just bite the bullet and get an OLED. $1k is too much money for constant headache.

I haven't run into a single issue with this tv. Google tv is super snappy on this thing. No random restarts or freezing at all. It performs better than the Google chromecast with remote I have. The Black levels are super dark and impressive. Sound quality is surprisingly good. The hdr works flawlessly. Impressive picture quality and response time. I haven't noticed any signocant blurring or juttering. The only minor issue is the touch less voice command on the TV isn't working. I did notice that's an issue with other tvs though.

For the price, you cannot beat this TV. It is miles ahead of the TCL 3 and 4 Series. Local dimming gives you deep, inky blacks. I actually like Google TV a lot better than Roku TV. I only use motion blur/judder reduction for sports, but when I do use it, it looks great. Well-built, easy to mount. Only complaints: In the picture, there is a little bit of noticeable posterization and blooming (especially in a dark room), but like I said, this is the best TV you can get at this price point.

Google TV platform does NOT support pausing LIVE TV like the FireTV and ROKU tv. Google does NOT have ROKU channel app available. Google does NOT have Xfinity app available. I even tried to side load it...nope. Won't get past the first screen. Thankfully, you CAN turn off the microphone with a hard switch on the back and it does NOT have a camera to spy on you...yet. What it does have that the ROKU does not, is an extra USB port, whatever that's worth...since you can't use it to buffer live TV. I was able to plug in a firestick so I could use the xfinity app. Still no roku channel tho. I suppose I could get a ROKU stick. hahah It also has really impressive (to me) 15 watt speakers instead of the newly downgraded 10 watt speakers on the ROKU tv 655 model. It's kind of a pick your poison situation. Once I got the picture adjusted, it is truly amazing!! Awesome brightness and clarity. Superb for Gaming. I love every minute that I'm not jumping over some GoogleTV hurdle to my enjoyment! The Google TV controller SUX. It doesn't have separate FF/PLAY/REW buttons like the firestick and Roku do. They want you to use the circle pad for EVERYTHING and its often just not that practical. I'd much prefer dedicated buttons. It's also a pain to get to the INPUTS. ROKU tiles the HDMI 1,2,3 on the main screenn, like any other app. EZPZ. But, with GoogleTV you have to go to another menu and scroll around to change inputs. The volume control is crazy...by design. It goes from 1 to 2 to 3 to 8 to 15!!! Sometimes it seems uncontrollable. A purposely stupid smart feature. I don't use the quick jump buttons, kind of wish they weren't there...on ALL of these platforms. But that's personal preference. It's just another button to accidentally press in the dark and blast out of the movie you are trying to watch to another App. oops. Speaking of in the dark...why is it that only Xfinity and Firestick (just introduced) are the only ones smart enough to make a backlit remote?? Maybe ROKU will try to catch up, But Google??? I'd be surprised if they even support this platform in 5 years. We have a 2005 GoogleTV that stopped supporting the apps over 5 years ago. That's the nice thing about ROKU, they improve their OS, they don't abandon it. Google is just NOT a consumer friendly company, I won't even talk about their refusal and disdain for the putting a DEL key on chromebooks and the google soft keyboard. "We don't care what the consumer wants, we like this". With the price ridiculously lower than the ROKU version of the same TV, I decided to give it a try. I'm ambivalent about recommending it. It definitely has some good points, I'm just bitter about not being able to Pause LIVE TV or stream Xfinity. If you don't care about that, then saddle up and give it a try.

Tldr; Great picture quality. But plagued with software bugs. It’s a great set if you plan to use it with a Firestick, Roku, or cable box, and avoid the Google TV smart functions. I’ve had the 65R646 for one week. I’ll start by saying I love this tv and I’m not planning to return it. However it has early-adopter/teething issues. For positives, IMO this tv has incredible picture quality. The blacks on this set are truly black. At night with all lights off and 100% dark room, watching movies that play in aspect 16:1, the black bars on top and bottom are truly black with no screen glow. When watching a scene that goes to all black, the tv disappears into complete darkness, no glow. And yet the bright scenes are so strong it will burn your retinas out, and with very little blooming. The Google TV menu is very fast and responsive (most of the time, there are exceptions, like right before the set does a crash and reboot - see below). It also has 24GB of storage for apps, which is refreshing after coming from a Firestick with only 8GB. I also love that I have access to all of the android apps, including Steam Link, Moonlight, and VLC. I have a PS4 DualShock controller paired to the set and Steam Link streaming from my PC works great even over wifi. For sound, I have a higher end 2.1 powered pc speakers and subwoofer plugged into the 3.5mm headphone jack. A really nice feature is you can control both the 3.5mm volume with the remote, and control the built in speaker volume separately, so you can really tweak the sound output. And mute mutes both internal and 3.5mm jack. But it's both a blessing and a curse, as lowering the volume means you need to adjust two settings. I wish there was an option to lock them together. I also have an Avantree Audikast Plus plugged into the tv’s optical output jack, and it stays on all the time, so I can hit mute on the speakers and still listen with my BT headphones, which is great. The sound quality from the speakers is not bad, about what you would expect from half-decent built-ins and sound is pretty decent after tweaking the TV’s EQ settings. Now for the bad. Frequent software bugs and crashes. My first day with the set it crashed and rebooted while watching ESPN+ app. Day two it froze then crashed watching Disney+ movie Avatar, then had no sound on PS5 HDMI (rebooting PS5 made no difference, but sound came back after a manual reboot of the TV). On day three it got the new firmware update (v74) which appears to have reduced the frequency of crashes, but problems persist. It won’t play the new Dune movie on HBO Max at all, it just freezes (but it does play wonderfully from HBO Max app through my Firestick or xbox). The HBO Max issue appears to be any content in Dolby Vision. I tried several (The Matrix, etc.) and they all just fail to play. I’ve experienced at least one crash or major software bug pretty much every day so far. I’m not the only one either, there is.a long thread on avsforums for this set. I’m guessing that TCL did a poor job with QC and/or pushed the R646 out early to catch the holiday season. That’s really a shame because the hardware and build quality are really good but as you can see, it’s getting killed on the bad reviews. Despite the issues I still love this set and am keeping it. All of the issues I’ve had appear to be related to TCL’s implementation of Google TV, so I’m just using my Firestick for streaming, which has no issues displaying Dolby Vision content on HBO Max, or any other issues and looks phenomenal on this tv, it’s an inexpensive bandaid that gets around nearly every issue, though it’s a shame that it’s necessary. I hope TCL does right by their customers and quickly fixes the firmware issues. When they do, I’ll ditch the fire stick, and I’ll come back and update my review.

I recently purchased the TCL Mini LED 65-inch TV, and it has exceeded my expectations. The picture quality is outstanding, with vibrant colors, deep blacks, and excellent contrast. The setup was easy, and the user interface is intuitive and responsive. The built-in Roku platform is a huge plus, offering seamless access to all my favorite streaming apps. The sound quality is good, but pairing it with a soundbar made a significant difference for a more immersive experience. Gamers will appreciate the HDMI 2.1 support and low input lag, making it perfect for next-gen consoles. Overall, the TCL Mini LED 65-inch TV offers exceptional value for its price. It's packed with features that rival more expensive models. Highly recommended!

Picture and size is very good for the price. Biggest issue I have had after several months is when watching via tv apps, streaming will become glitchy and eventually freeze prompting a restart. Extrealy annoying if your trying to enjoy a movie or sports and especially with company. If this is a normal issue i would have bought the other brand I was considering. Also when researching brands i noticed that the google tvs seemed to have significantly more adds. After the experience i would not have bought this tv, but with the picture quality a s size for price i wanted to give an iver all positive review... just it didnt perform as well as expected. 1.) freezing frequently to the point I avoid the apps all together 2.) Google tvs seem to have excessive adds. 3) to a much lesser extent the remote is very limited and not very powerfull... may not be an issue for many so didnt include this as an issue. Grudgingly I recommend this tv if used with receiver... i would hate this as a stand alone unit.

This was a replacement for a warranty claim and I can tell you right now: ALWAYS get the Geek Squad extended warranty. They honor the warranty and will do you right. This TV has a spectacular picture, can do HDR 10+ and Dolby Video. It has 120 hz native. It's a beast. Coming from using a Roku for the past 5-6 years, I'm not a huge fan of the Google. It works, is snappy, etc, BUT you have to log into the Google OS as a particular account and that is what will be the Youtube login. You have to log out at the TV level to change Youtube accounts. Roku was much better at that. It's not a deal breaker. I had trouble getting my surround sound receiver to work via HDMI arc so I had to use the TV speakers. They were surprisingly good. I got it figured out (a setting) and have lovely 5.1 surround now. Overall, I do truly love this TV.

Very good television for the price when it's on sale. It won't be able to beat out an OLED TV, but it can more than hold its own and provides very good contrast and a crisp picture. The mini-LED's give it a very bright screen, I had to turn the brightness down quite a bit as it almost felt like looking at the sun. The built in speakers and overall build quality were better than I was expecting. My only real issue is when there is a slow panning shot in a movie or show there is a significant amount of judder that takes some getting used to. But aside from that its a terrific TV with an awesome 4k picture, especially when watching a 4k blu-ray. In the end it really is a great TV for this price point. Its perfect if you don't want to spend the extra money on an OLED and will likely blow some more expensive (non-OLED) TV's out of the water despite being cheaper.

All I can tell you is I love this TV and I watch it every day, I love everything bout this tv, from the size of it, it takes uo the whole wall, the mini qled feature im in love with, the 15 million colors the tv displays is so amazing, watching movies in 4 k with dolby Atmos sound is ridiculously krazy, especially how it sounds when play video games on the big screen also. I didn't know the TV had so much to offer but I should of known better consider how much it cost me. Lol! The price it cost me is ultimately worth every dollar, and I would highly recommend this particular TV to anyone that is looking for something so awesome.

I bought this TV based on reviews on some popular ratings sites. The picture really is great and the Google TV functionality is great. It’s a bit thicker and heavier than I anticipated. The speakers are also pretty sad but I use a sound bar anyway. I’m also disappointed in the remote that needs to be pointed directly at a specific spot on the TV to work. It’s a good budget TV.

This TV looks fantastic. It's not going to compete with a top-tier OLED, but color and contrast are very good, UHD demonstrates an apparent upgrade from standard 4k, and the picture is sharp and smooth, especially considering the price point. Built-in Google TV is a nice bonus, and eARC works well with an attached soundbar. Worth pointing out that there's only one eARC enabled HDMI. Sound is a low point (as with every TV nowadays, it seems) but any soundbar that's eARC compliant should theoretically work with the TV remote (I use mine with a Samsung soundbar).

The TCL R646 is excellent for most uses. It's impressive for watching movies in a dark room thanks to its fantastic contrast ratio, and it has a Mini LED local dimming feature to improve dynamic range. It's great for watching TV shows or sports in a bright room because it has fantastic peak brightness and excellent reflection handling, but it has narrow viewing angles. It's also an impressive TV for gaming thanks its variable refresh rate support, HDMI 2.1 bandwidth for 4k @ 120Hz gaming, and low input lag. Lastly, it's impressive for watching HDR content because it displays a wide color gamut and gets bright enough to make highlights pop.

Short version: go ahead and buy! Long version: I researched which TV to buy for several weeks. I had been hoping to buy a premium brand TV (Samsung, Sony, etc.) for my next TV at some point in the next few years. However, my current TV (Vizio) stopped working (it's actually my 2nd Vizio I've had that has only lasted about 5 years) and my finances were not currently in a position to purchase a premium brand TV. So I researched a lot, looking at many different review sites online and YouTube channels. I wanted the best bang for your buck TV but was a little scared to purchase a brand I hadn't used before. Bottom line to save you weeks of research and hesitancy of which TV to buy in this price range...go ahead and buy this! Take it home and if you don't love it, of course you could return it with Best Buy's return policy. However, I am super happy with it! By far the thing that I'm pickiest about with TVs is black levels. It annoys me when watching a dark scene in a show/movie and the screen is either a washed out grey or if the screen is so dark that I can't actually see anything. This is not an issue with this TV. I'm super happy with the darks. One other thing to note: I went to 2 different Best Buy stores to look at this TV. One store, it looked terrible and another store, it looked great. At home, it looks great! So even if the demo model doesn't look great, I would still encourage you to give this TV a shot. If you've been on the fence deciding if you should pay significantly more for a premium brand or if you should choose another brand at this price point, all I can say is that I love this TV at the price point and couldn't be happier! I should have just pulled the trigger and not spent so long researching! (One more comment: I use a soundbar or surround sound on all my TVs. I would say that the sound quality is average for this TV, but I do not purchase TVs for the sound. With all the money you save by buying this TV at a reasonable price, just go and buy a $100-200 soundbar which will be better than most any default TV speakers.)

I bought this TV back in November of 2021. First off, the picture quality is excellent! Anything in 4K the colors pop and are bright, with great whites and blacks and contrast. After changing some pic quality settings I even got regular HD cable channels to look really good too, at first not so much. Im still on the fence about the Google TV, I really wish it had Roku to be honest. Now a few gripes that I hope get fixed. Luckily I havent had any really buggy issues with TV turning off or lagging like other reviewers have mentioned but I have issues with this TV. First, in order to simply change Inputs takes like 6 clicks to switch HDMI Inputs, there is no simple INPUT button, you have to open Settings, then click down to Inputs, then click to the Input you want, really dumbersome. Next, you cannot disable Dolby Vision. For a lot of shows on Netflix it is fine, but trying to watch Batman or Narcos with Dolby Vision makes it look bright and fake, it is horrible. If I watch same shows through my Xbox series X the shows play normal. I talked with both Netflix and TCL and there is no way to disable from either. One of the main reasons I bought this TV was for its picture quality while gaming, and it does not disappoint. Playing 4k@120Hz is so amazing! The previous model, the 65R635 did not come with any HDMI 2.1 inputs, which is the only way to play 4K@120Hz using Xbox series X(I dont think previous Xbox consoles are capable). This is one of the only TV's that are certified by THX and Call of Duty itself, this size and model, you wont be disappointed. Gaming on this TV is amazing, especially COD. TCL, I sure hope you get these easy to fix bugs worked out with this TV because it is amazing and totally worth fixing! Peace Out, enjoy!

2nd time the charm, this is a great tv it gets really bright and the picture pops, the fist one I picked up had someones hair stuck between the screen and backlight so I could see it every time there was a bright scene, but Best Buy gladly exchanged it for another one, this tv gets near oled levels in contrast and color but gets way brighter, the only downside would be the little amount of blooming around bright objects on dark backgrounds but that is to be expected for this type of panel, for the price this tv can’t be beat
