Great image, beautiful finish, good price… but my last star is out because of the audio system. First of all the eARC system was together with the 120hz HDMI port wich would be best used for image devices. Second of all the the audio configuration doesn’t allow me to change between TV speakers and external speakers (that’s really terrible). I can’t use my external speakers if I don’t connect in the eARC input. And the last but not least… if I turn on the TV and my video game to play the TV automatically changes for the input with my appleTV (turning the device on)… it’s very annoying. It’s a google TV… but I also have a Sony Google Tv wich does all of this.

Great TV. First I bought the R646 and tried it for a few days. It's great and the sound was amazing, but I had to return the TV since it was a little too "bulky" for my liking and pretty heavy. I wanted to have the R646 wall mounted but was too worried it would not hold properly. Returned the R646 no problem and then exchange it for the fabulous R655 model. This met my needs and what I was looking for. Great for wall mounting. Got to love the 144hz. Note: Ignore the sound ratings on rtratings website. The sound is way better than I expected.

Absolute best TV around $1k. Local dimming is excellent, 120Hz panel does an incredible job when playing video games. This TV has so many features that other TVs with way higher price don’t have. I returned the X85J for this one and it is night and day. It gets super bright, amazing color, great Google TV interface, etc. The TV speakers sound decent (great compared to my previous TV) but you might need a sound bar if you want the full experience.

I have been using this TV as my primary gaming display for my Xbox Series X. TV has great pictures and surprisingly, even a good sound out of the box. However there are a lot of settings you need to change in order to get the most out of this TV. Only reason I give it 4 stars is becsuse of user friednlieness. I had no problem researching and spent an hour or so just messing with the settings, but once I did the TV truly shows what it can do. I do have a bit if a stutter on the right and bottom of my screen when playing some games. Not sure if it is VRR or ehat is causing it, but it isnt too noticable. Coming from a samsung q70t i can definitely see the darker blacks on this TCL and it was half the price if my q70t even 3 years after I purchased it. We shall see how it holds up in the long run.

I had this TV for a little over a year. I do not use it as much as I’d like however, I am a little disappointed. Let me give you my pro vs cons. Pro - Bight screen, excellent for gaming and an overall nice looking TV. Con - There are 3 small black dots on the bottom left side of the screen. The TVs operating system is slow. At times, I have to unplug/plug-in the TV, in order for it to turn it on. Apps crash all the time.

Best Dollar for Dollar | Prefer this over my OLED

I have 2 OLEDs(LG B6, LG CX), and upgraded from a 55 KS8000 to this 65 TCL r646. This TV puts all 3 of them to shame. I prefer the picture quality of the TCL r646 over the OLEDs even. I may have won the panel lottery though. Blacks are inky and OLED like. I do not have any blooming with the Local Contrast set to Low. I have perfect screen uniformity after checking gray levels from 5% to 100%. Checked on a variety of different color slides. Also tested for dirty screen effect and it was very minimal(you will always have SOME dirty screen effect with full array local dimming tvs). This TV is also extremely bright. RTINGS assessment of 1000 nits is definitely correct. When I was in the store I was going to choose the TCL r646, Sony X95, or the Vizio PQ. The store associate thought I was crazy when I chose the TCL, but it goes to show their employees do not do their own research. Some online research said that the Google TV was buggy and having issues, but those issues have been fixed. I have had 0 issues with the native smart apps. I use Disney +, Netflix, and Vudu regularly. All in all I am extremely satisfied with this TV. I even have been playing my PS5 on this TV over my theater room with LG CX and 5.2.4 Dolby Atmos setup. My friend who helped me transport this TV to my home thought I was crazy buying a "TCL" but was blown away once we set this up in my living room. NOTE: HDMI 1 and 2 are the only HDMI 2.1 ports. I have tested this on the PS5 and was getting 4k 120hz.

Wow. I previously had the 2018 TCL Series 6. If you liked that tv, you should love this. Colors are vibrant. Great black level. Picture really pops. Sports look fantastic. Tried Google Tv over Roku mainly because of the dispute between Roku and YouTube TV. Takes a little to get used to, compared to Roku, in regards to getting into and changing any settings. But, now got it down. There where definitely little glitches with apps and general operating system, even after update. I sent, through Help and Feedback in the tv, some of the issues I was having. Don’t know if coincidence, but after a couple days, no more glitches. Been running flawlessly. Now, loving this tv completely. Like how it ties in with YouTube Tv through Live tab. Again, picture is great. I did pair with a Sonos Arc sound bar to get Dolby Atmos. Another wow.

This tv was everything I hoped for. I watch a lot of sports and the quality is great. For movies that meet specific specs it automatically switches to a movie picture rather than my default sports picture. My only complaint would be the Google Smart TV part. Sometimes like all technology it takes a long time to think (10 second) not often though. Every now and then it will also randomly go to an app and when you click the home button it sends you right back to the random app until you turn off your tv for a minute.

Solid purchase for the price. Excellent picture, but I have experienced difficulties in achieving console compatibility when using the e-arc port. 120hz, HDR10, etc. not detected when plugged into the console. This is disappointing as I have the series X and PS5, so it is a hassle having to swap out the hdmi cables in order to utilize 120FPS on both platforms. Besides that, the TV is great. Incredibly fast operating system, beautiful picture quality, very bright!

TV has been good so far but some things keep it from being 5 star for me: Not a fan of google tv and prefer roku for layout and ease of use. Some apps aren't available in google tv, like discovery go, and starz app using charter doesnt allow connection for android/google tvs. The settings are not very easy to navigate with things like hdmi mode only visible when the port is active (needed to change that setting from default auto to 2.1 for tv to recognize hdr from 4k disc player. As everyone has said the os is a bit buggy but hopefully updates will keep improving it.

Hopefully this will be a good value. Need to own it a while longer without problems to make that determination. It does have some judder when during a moderate closeup an actors face turns quickly so that is a little disappointing and any back light in a scene (a flashlight, daylight window for eg) is harshly bright. On the plus sign campfires and burning buildings look great and the ability to see what's going on in the dark scenes of certain zombie , baby alien and flying dragon series look great compared to the 10 year old backlit led it replaced. Speakers...well who uses those on their tv anymore? So can't say. P.S. the remote is Playskool quality .

First off, absolutely fantastic picture for HDR 4K content for sure. My wife barely notices picture quality and we have bought multiple TCL 5 series TV's over the last couple years for our new home as they are great bang for the buck. This one she just kept commenting how amazing and life like the picture was. For the record we use this for PS5(waiting for Christmas), Switch, and Apple TV. The downside is this underlying TV Google OS is buggy. The HDMI CEC doesn't work for anything. Inputs don't switch automatically. The eARC controls are laggy and the two way piece doesn't work at all. This means you can't, say, route through a soundbar with a HDMI IN in addition to an eARC port. This is important for Nintendo Switch if you want surround to work since most TV's kill PCM audio that comes out of the Switch. Just to be certain it's not the Vizio soundbar, I tested and verified this is not an issue on a current gen TCL 5 Roku TV a room over. Good news is we don't care too much about Switch surround since we've never managed to get it working anyway. And we plan to use Hue Play Sync HDMI Switch with a Gradient so that should hopefully handle HDMI switching. The TV just won't automatically turn off when power things down. Hopefully TCL will fix this in the future being a new release/platform for them. Just annoying something so basic as CEC and automatic HDMI switch is still broken. I don't use the Google TV aspect since I find built in smart TV software is always slow and cumbersome compared to Apple TV which is blazing fast and premium feeling. So can't comment on the issues many have been complaining about in that department. I had hoped when I bought it that Google TV was only issue and I really wanted the extra local dimming zones this model added over Roku model, but alas this whole TV has some bugs to work out yet.

Tested, tweaked, great TV so far (black friday 21)

I picked this up on black friday for $900 after reading Rtings review + reviews here and on reddit. I will say I have had a great experience with it for the price, and honestly even if it was at the MSRP I think it would still be well worth it. The caveat is I have been using it with a CCGTV. I was able to get all buttons on CCGTV white remote to work over bluetooth, you have to disable IR mode for volume and use Auto (CEC). Additionally volume up and down correctly work using code 1. Per Rtings, I disabled every picture processing option and used Movie mode and it's fantastic for Youtube, Netflix and Discovery+ which I've tried so far. When you play LG's 4k test video meant for OLED, well I've never owned a screen that displayed this video so well other than my Galaxy S20. It feels next level and though I have local dimming/contrast set to low, the black areas of the screen look like OLED/completely black. On the CCGTV, I leave the output at 4k 60hz, 4k30 causes major stutter on Netflix. Also, CEC on/off works fine when I power off the set with the CCGTV remote. It takes a moment for the TV to see the CCGTV has shut off, but after a moment of displaying No Signal, the set will shut off. A lot of people had been complaining about this so I must assume they fixed it with a firmware update. Make sure the first thing you do is set up the TV using the built in GoogleTV, then go to About and check for a software update as well as turn on automatic updates. I think this set is receiving a lot of updates right now which is a great thing. I use this TV in a dark room only, but it get's extremely bright. I have it on 10% brightness for my dark room and even then it is somewhat bright. My panel has some poor grey uniformity, someone else was complaining and returning them on here for this issue. I have to laugh, because it's only visible when a completely grey screen is being sent to the TV. It is not noticeable at all in any other circumstance. This is a good time to take a step back, realize not everything is perfect especially at this price point, and not every issue will even affect you. These are just my initial impressions. I will update this if there are any larger issues, but for now I am very impressed especially for the rock bottom price. I will order a Startech HDMI 2.1 cable next to test output from my 3080 PC to see if I can play Forza Horizon 5 with my Xbox controller from my bed.

Super solid TV given the price I paid. Honestly love it my only very small minor issue is the u.i. on the home page is a little slow when the TV is first turned on. It doesn't do it the whole time but there's definitely a large amount of input lag within the first minute of turning it on. Other than that I absolutely recommend if your looking for a decent TV for a reasonable price. Also the sound isn't super clear. I ended up connecting a sound bar I had to help clear it up. But at base the sound isn't amazing

I’m having issues with the TV eARC port. For the most part, the TV and my Samsung Q70T Atmos soundbar are not in sync as it seems. This could be relating to the CEC I turned on so I can control my soundbar with the TV remote. When I adjust the vol on the remote, the TV vol number (level) doesn’t match what’s on the soundbar. If I turn off the TV and back on again, the number/level matches, but after an hour of use or so, the number/level mismatch happens again. I have tried this for 3 days or so. I’m using an HDMI with Ethernet cable so it should have no issues with eARC. However, there’s another issue. The TV and my soundbar output sound at the same time which causes an echo effect. This is really annoying because the sound gets mixed up between the TV speaker and the soundbar. The only way to fix the issue is to turn the TV off/on. I assume a firmware update in the future will fix this issue. For reference, my Q70T soundbar was connected to my 55R517 TCL and the ARC/CEC was working perfectly. I only got this issue when I upgraded my TCL to this 65R646 version. Then there are a few software bugs I have noticed so far. When I exit an app like YouTube and go back to the homepage, I can still hear sounds coming from YouTube even though I'm back on the homepage. Some apps have more of a delay than others, and the delay exit effect only happens at certain times so there's no consistency I can point to. I also have an issue with the setting button on the remote. Sometimes when I press it, the TV doesn't react at all. Sometimes when I'm in an app like Netflix or YouTube and I press the setting button on the remote, the TV would just go back to the homepage. That's super weird to me since the setting button acts as if it's a homepage button. Then there's a lag issue when you press buttons on the remote. Sometimes they work quickly, but sometimes they have a few seconds worth of lag. I own 3 other TCL TVs and they all function really well on Roku. I'm thinking it's a GoogeTV issue that TCL hasn't perfected yet. I'm hoping they will update their firmware soon. If not, this TV will have to go back to BestBuy.

Great TV at an Amazing Price $599 for 65-inch Mini LED I purchased this TV online at BestBuy.com in early November 2022. On Black Friday it was lowered to $599. After several phone calls and an in-person visit to my local Best Buy, I received significant credit. The Mini LED TV has an amazing picture. I have four Roku Products and do NOT like the interface. So, This model has Google TV. A Google TV is not a good as getting a Chromecast with Google TV for use with Google Home. So, I added that along with 2022 Apple TV 4K and FireTV 4K Max. Likes: Dolby Vision 4 HDMI 2.1 inputs E-ARC on HDMI 1 Decent remote (with some negatives below) Some interesting customizations Price is amazing Dislikes The Remote does NOT have an Input button This version of Google TV is a bit buggy Not perfect with Amazon Alexa or Google Home integration User Guide is terrible Customer Service is below average Menus are very confusing
