I purchased this TV when it was on sale for $1,000 (great deal for a newer model "QLED") over memorial day weekend. The picture quality is great - rich blacks and very bright whites - definitely an upgrade from our 10 year old Sony. The built-in roku is relatively easy to use, but there is a learning curve for some when switching from cable.

This is a great value of you can get it at a good price. (I personally purchased the 65" for $999 on sale.) This was purchased as a gift for my father, but we ended up returning the set mostly because the viewing angles did not work for the room. You pretty much need to be dead center on axis to get the most of this set. The set does get incredibly bright and has nice color. However, the blacks in HDR particularly leave some to be desired in my opinion. The backlight is very aggressive and struggles at times. I did not get a chance to try to set up bias lighting, but that would recommend it as it will likely alleviate some of this issue. I am glad to report there was no black crush on my set. Ultimately I would recommend going for an OLED if you can (I've personally been a happy owner of three LG sets over the years and I can't go back to LCD), but if you NEED an LCD set, I would go for a Sony X900H or X950H due to their accuracy and high-quality. However, for $999 or less this is a decent buy depending on your needs and setup.

Very bright TV but smooth screen does reflect

The TCL is rated to be good for brightness and reduced reflections. In my bright room with several windows the screen is bright and very crisp, but the windows do reflect on the screen during the day. My old TV was very high end and had a special coating that reduced reflections more.

Definitely the best Tv for the price. Excellent picture and sound quality. Its easy to setup and has Roku which I love. To be fair I've never used android or apple tv so I can't really compare but the roku makes setting up all your streaming services really easy. TCL is a great value. Definitely recommend.

This TCL TV is awesome - we had a 10 year old Plasma Panasonic, which still had a great picture but at 42" was small for the room. So we had been looking for a replacement for awhile and this TCL had always been one of the top contenders. Best Buy had a GREAT sale price over the weekend and combine that with the fact we could return a new Roku we had bought (since this TV had Roku inside), we bought it. Took about a week to be delivered but it hasn't disappointed. Followed the recommended settings of a TV reviewer online to turn off all the adaptive motion technology and set the aspect / colors to original and Movie. That has worked wonders as we prefer the viewing that way. The stand is STURDY - I know many users mount these TVs to the wall but we don't, so that was also something I liked about the unit. 4 large screws and 2 permanent bolts attach the stand to the TV and there is no wiggle at all. Additionally we bought a TCL soundbar and attached it via HDMI to the TV - also works great, no setup required and the TV & soundbar work as one with the TV remote.

The Great: Resolution is fantastic. The zoned LED is excellent for improved contrast and color depth appearance. Nearly comparable to OLED TV performance. The good: Easy menus. Easy picture and sound settings. Easy to navigate to the appropriate inputs. The bad: Direct angle viewing of dark items are "crunched" into black. Modifying the picture is necessary if the movie is a darker displayed film. The really bad: Glitchy software. When I first got the TV, it would randomly restart. I updated to the latest software, only to find that sleep and power options vanished from the menu. After a recommended factory, the options came back. When casting youtube to the TV sound gets quiet, and distorted periodically, requiring a TV power cycle. It is intermittent. It does not randomly start behaving this way; it is dependent on a power on cycle while demonstrating sound issues.

Awesome Picture Some Issues with Sound Bar & Roku

Picture is the best that I have seen on any TV I owned. I do not believe you can find a better TV at the $1,000 price point. Polk Sigma S2 sound bar control of volume works intermittently with the TCL Roku remote using HDMI ARC, Tried optical connection too and same issue. Minor hassle to have to use two remotes. TCL internal Roku App has intermittent issues when switching between streaming services. Picture goes to fast forward mode and sound mutes. Fix is to pause the video stream and click play Also, internal TCL Roku TV App has to be rebooted on occasion to load Netflix programs. If this continues may switch to external Roku streamer. Am hoping TCL updates software to fix above issues. Overall it is a great TV.

I bought it on sale 999.99, no regrets at all. The picture quality is stunning. I also have the 6 series TCL 65R615 which I am very happy with but the 8 series is such a huge leap forward, very impressive, A big upgrade. Build quality and the stand is excellent. Solid. Very heavy. You do not need a sound bar with this TV. It’s audio performance is good enough for your average film viewer, good bass and clear vocal sounds. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Star Wars, as is, for example. The Roku OS with elegant remote is very fast and responsive as opposed to other TCL’s where the menu can lag a little bit and be sluggish at times. I would not buy it at its original price, but for <$1000 it is a true bargain. Negatives - needs picture calibration out of the box. - Very bright panel, I feel too bright for your bedroom, I find myself constantly adjusting contrast/brightness, perfect for the living room where it will hang eventually. You want premium? This is premium and more. From the packaging to the TV remote, design/style and build quality is 5star.

For an LED tv, the picture was great. Very bright! Ended up returning this due to it having scratches on the screen (granted it was an Open Box item - but it was advertised as "Excellent" condition when in actuality it was not). Love the Roku OS interface.

Picture is amazing and I’ve never had a TV that sounds this good without a sound bar! This is also my first Roku TV and the software and interface are very simple and easy to use and the roku ecosystem has WAAAYYY more content than I thought. Incredible purchase especially since I bought it on sale!!!

Excellent television with exceptional picture quality. I do find having to manually connect to the internet every time Iturn on the television a bit of a pain. However, hardline connections don't have this issue,. However, it's def a pain for wirelessly connected users. There are also issues with synching the sound to my Vizio sound bar. The television & the sound system will repeatedly un-synched if you pause what you're viewing for a couple minutes. It got bad enough to where I just disconnected the sound system and manually control each independently. I have another television like this connected to an Onkyo receiver and the problem seem to have been resolved with the latest Onkly/TCL firmware update. An excellent television for the price, though, but the sound connectivity issue should be addressed. Immediately!!

Excellent picture and ease of use. Having trouble with the headphone jack, can’t just plug in headphone jack and disable the speakers. I have to use the phone app and run headphones through the phone. Not sure if this is a firmware issue, plan on contacting customer support.

Awesome TV especially for a bright room, wanted to go OLED but so much light is on my living room I didn't wanna buy a TV that I had to black out the room for. Most of the time is spent streaming movies and shows but it works great for video games as well.

A month in, it's been a good purchase. Delivery was great, set up was easy and we've been enjoying a picture that probably matches that of sets costing a lot more. We've also liked Roku, a new item for us, and the ability to add a lot of streaming sites easily.

This is a very, very good TV. It's in a secondary room but will get lots of use when my wife and I want to watch different programs, and when I'm watching it late at night since it's further from the bedroom. The colors are brilliant and the TV is brighter than my LG OLED, which makes it great for HDR highlights, and the wide color gamut really pops. The mini-LEDs make for great contrast and deep blacks with a minimal amount of blooming. Some non-4k content can exhibit a touch of banding on a gradient background or sky, but not to the point of distraction. Hopefully, future firmware updates will address this. Prices have fluctuated on this TV over the last few months and I picked a good time to buy it on sale. Even at its current price IMO it's a good value. It's by far the best LED set I've owned.

    Excellent TV - Replaced a Sony X850F

After having tons of issues with my Sony 65" 2018 X-850F I went with this TV as my replacement due to the Mini-LED and having a great experience on my 2018 TCL 6-Series in my other room. This TV has not disappointed at all. I strongly recommend using the TCL color calibration app on Android. It works best at night/in a dark room. I managed to calibrate from 4.6 to 1.3! Pretty close to the 'perfect' settings possible. You can also do manual calibration through the advanced expert settings via the Roku App mobile app. The only con I can currently think of is that I wish this TV had HDMI 2.1 ports. A firmware update will tell, but HDMI 2.0 will easily cover my needs. The newly updated 6-Series will have mini-led but many less in the panel overall. I decided this was still the better option even with that one looming. Less halo/blooming thanks to tons of LED's. Truly great TV!

People say this tv may not have the most robust viewing angles, and that my be true, but as someone with a small family that all sits in front of the tv, I LOVE this tv. Great color. Almost too bright. Great interface. Very happy with this product.

We chose this TCL model based upon its excellent reviews and very competitive price. The frame and stand appear to be quite high quality. The picture is bright, crisp, and dark (where and when it's supposed to be). The app package provides enough selection for any wire cutter...except for the unfortunate lack of a browser in the Roku TV system. That functionality is made up by the XBox connected to the TV. The Roku system is easy to use and quite 'snappy'. Out of the box, the system went into its updating mode - quite painless and relatively quick. No problems experienced since it's been in operation. I admit to counting down the two-week return period, watching for any possible problem, but the clock elapsed and we're content with the purchase. The Best Buy delivery guys were polite and helpful - thank you Best Buy!
