I have owned this TV for almost two years now and I’m just as impressed as the first day I had it. The picture quality is great and the integrated Roku is so convenient.

Such a underrated TV and has great picture quality especially at the price I got it. At the time I purchased I paid under $1,000 I only wish they would update it to do 1440p 120 for gaming.

    Absolutely Love This Affordable Beast

I am absolutely in love with this tv! The contrast on this thing is crazy, thanks to the mini-led setup they created for it. Blacks actually look black instead of gray-ish. Light bleed is practically non-existent. I will say that some fine tuning will be needed to get it to look the way you want. If you don't have a phone compatible with the iPQ Engine automatic white balance setup, I highly recommend having someone that does let you use their phone. The white balance on mine came just a touch off from what I wanted. Using the iPQ Engine setup fixed that for me in seconds. Overall, this is an absolute beast of a tv, especially when you consider everything this TV can really do for the price. Note: eARC is now available on this model, but it must be updated to Roku OS 9.4.0 to enable it.

    Unwatchable for Dark Scenes

I bought this 65" 8-Series TCL TV with high hopes based on glorious recommendations from cNet and other sites. So, I was quite excited to see how it performs. Note that this tv is about 50% heavier than other similar 65" tv in its price range- I believe due to the added weight if all those mini LEDs. I played Black panther movie on it using built in Disney app. All the dark scenes into he beginning of movie were totally unwatchable. This tv crushed the dark scenes so bad I couldn't even see the faces of the actors in the dark scenes. Same thing with anything in the shadow. Bright scenes, however, were pretty good. But anything shot in the dark or in low light, like Mandalorian, Black Panther, etc is almost unwatchable. I then ordered a Sony X900H and compared pictures on both tv side by side. Sony X900H showed all the details this TCL was crushing. I could finally see faces and features hiding in the shadow or in the dark scenes. So, if you want a 4K 65" tv under $1500, then my recommendation is to go with X900H. Note that 65" X900H is under $1200 as of 9/4/2020! It is a steal- just mount and hook up the TV and you are done as compared to TCL TVs where you would constantly worry about any dark scenes in a movie or TV show! I don't play games, so any future HDMI 2.1 updates are of no real interest to me with X900H. But I'll take it any day over crappy TCL tv.

Not sure what I expected here. I've been really hyped up on the whole mini led train. Some overly gray bleeding in the top corners is highly distracting and disheartening. Apparently the panel problems of TCL lives on even with minileds. I'm pretty disappointed on this tv based on that alone. It took me a while to dial in the settings. Dolby vision content resets and further tweaks it's settings even after you originally tweak each source. The color is great. I don't see any banding in gray to black transitions. Banding in general seems really non-existent. That's good. Seems to get plenty bright for my dark rooms standpoint. I don't think it's quite as bright as some others in this price range. Hisense H9 for instance. The local dimming works mediocre. It was a mess when I watched the very dark opening sequence of Thor in dolby vision. That was with the local dimming set on high. I moved it to medium and it seems to be the best way to use it. Roku is a pretty smooth design. I've never used it before but I can see why the fanfare exists. Overall it's a decent tv if you win the panel lottery. I don't think it's the game changer I expected it to be at all. VRR promises good gaming performance for the future though no 4k 120mhz supported. I am currently exchanging it to try to get nondefective panel. IF you win TCLs panel lottery you will like the TV. If you don't like me, you'll regret waisting your time. Note: the picture of the light bleed in the corner is over saturated by my phone. It's not THAT bad but it's noticable in darker scenes. Update: 8/19 The replacement set is okay. I'm noticing the biggest issues with blooming tend to occur with the 4k Firestick which utilizes dolby vision by default. Perhaps they generates more data that the tv can sometimes have difficulty deciding with it's lighting algorithm. Not sure. Overall it's pretty good. Not stellar but good.

I didn't think my TCL 55" could get a better Pix but this one is much brighter and clearer. I couldn't believe the difference until i had them side by side. Have had it almost a month now and am still wowed.

This has been a great TV so far. Colors are rich, blacks are black. I will say the stand is kinda strange and measures about 13 inches deep meaning I could not place the TV on the mantle as intended.

Overall the picture quality is really good. It's superb on 4K content. I recently watched "Cars 3" in 4K, streamed with the Disney Plus channel. The picture quality was fantastic, it was bright, crisp, and colorful. I've also been using it with the Xbox One X, that console supports 4K games, and they all look great. No motion blur at all. Surprisingly, the sound is really good too. It's about as good as my (somewhat old) 5.1 surround sound system.

I almost hate to say this but this is actually the best TV I've ever owned, regardless of where it was made. I use it in a bright room with lots of windows. My first choice was the LG OLED and would have bought one except for the issue of reflected screen glare if used in a bright room with lots of windows, like my living room. I expected much less, especially since I bought an open box item, sight unseen, during the pandemic. I paid online, and the blue shirts brought it out and loaded it for me - touchless. For about half price, I didn't get a stand (I was wall mounting anyway) or a box, but it was flawless as promised.
