Upgraded to the QM8 from a smaller tv and for the money, this is the TV to beat this year! It gets VERY bright almost eye searing. Hdr looks fantastic and the black levels are close to oled. I can’t see any blooming with any content Ive watched. Supports current gen consoles with hdmi 2.1 and has a separation eArc port. The upscaling has also improved from older TCL tvs. No regrets with this purchase!

So far I'm loving this TV for movies. The highlights and hdr are incredible. I have a surround sound setup so I haven't used the TVs built-in speaker. I hear it's decent with its built-in subwoofer. For the price nothing can touch this tv and it beats quite a few higher price tvs. If it's in your price range definitely consider it.

The TV is incredible. Was looking at OLED and stumbled upon this in store and the difference is minimal. This is a also much brighter than OLED so in some ways it is better while being more affordable. The blacks are comparable to OLED as well.

I LOVE THIS TV! Bright HDR! It's in a super bright living room with floor to ceiling windows and it is a little brighter than my old Samsung Q90R (which itself was very bright). Most suprisingly, great TV speakers (loud/clear) that's much louder than my Q90R

This TV definitely gets bright and the colors pop. That is apparently what you mainly need for HDR performance. The picture to me is well worth the price. I have read that it's not the greatest at upscaling non-4K content. I would have to agree. But the TVs that do it better are Samsung and especially Sony. They have a better processor but also cost a lot more. What I don't like is how the Google TV works. The second time I turned it on it said I needed to sign back on my Google email or use my phone. This is because I turned the power off (surge protector) because the TV is not needed everyday and what not. All I want is updates, I don't really use apps. Why does it need to worry about my e-mail or phone? It says to make sure it's really me like someone is going to make charges on my Google account. This is the first time I saw a TV do this and it's kind of crazy. It's more like getting information from you and trying to get you to buy stuff. The Tv is great otherwise, LOL!

I have only had this model for 30 days, but I am impressed with its features and performance. Over the years I have had Sony, and Samsung and been pleased with their overall picture, especially Sony XBR. However, because of so many advancements with various TV manufacturers in LED technology, and processing software especially TCL, I opted for a lower priced model than the Sony that had similar quality features. This set does not disappoint. There are many who would argue Sony's notable processing advantages, and picture over TCL, but this model holds its own, in my opinion. Especially what you get for the price. Fantastic picture quality.

The TCL QM-8 is seriously one amazing bargain. I have been a Samsung fan when it came to TVs but decided to take a chance on the TCL considering the tech you are getting at this price. Q-led, mini-led, full array, high refresh rate, unmatched brightness and spectacular colors, not to mention the almost OLED blacks that are just beautiful. The built in subwoofer isnt a replacement for a dedicated surround system or soundbar but totally helps when just using the built in speakers. 144hz 4K AMD Freesync is also included. There is so much more to this TV, but first and foremost is the absolute value here for this much technology. You will totally be pleased with this.A++

Absolutely outstanding TV for the price. Super bright super sharp picture. The Google TV interface is certainly better than the previous Roku one. It is much faster and smoother. Backlit remote is a great plus. Only problem is Dolby Atmos does not work on Disney Plus. It is clearly a Disney problem because it works everywhere else. Hopefully, this will eventually be fixed. Between now and then, I'm using an Apple TV box to get around it. It works fine on Apple. This TV plus the Bose soundbar 900 make an excellent combination.

This TV’s picture is amazing it’s super bright, like really bright and fun popping colors. It’s better than the Sony which is more money or the Samsung. It’s pretty quick too as overall I really like it. I returned it because I thought it had a PS5 compatibility issue but I later found out it was my plug when I purchased the Sony X90 (don’t buy it). Now I’m returning it for the same tv but bigger! The only thing the Sony has on it is sound but for me it’s just fine, if get a sound bar.

The tv picture looks amazing and the screen gets so bright. The audio is descent enough, but sometimes I have a hard time distinguishing what is being said over the background music, but it's not a major issue and switching sound profiles helps. The only reason this tv isn't 5 stars is because it gets a bit buggy at times. Sometimes the tv freezes if you try opening multiple apps too quickly. Another bug I found is the tv does not recognize the switch as a gaming console and trying to force ALM results in some games having a weird lag. I've never had any issues with my ps5.

If you're reading this then you're, seriously doing your homework and are in the market for a QM8. We have had ours since Wednesday. This is Saturday morning. I can't get all techie but I thought you might get a kick out of our unlearned perceptions so far. A little bio.... We began our TV watching using black and white.I was married in the 70's when I got my first color television. Then, (musta been around 2007 or so) I bought a 50 inch Panasonic plasma....which would not die. I finally sent it packing this week and put the QM8 in its place. It comes with Google TV which is quite useless to me. Instead we use Roku Ultra and YouTubeTV which gives us pretty much everything we care to look at. We have a TCL sound bar that we were using with the older tv. Sound is a bit better than the TV speakers..but it's not a deal breaker. We put the thing in MOVIE MODE...which sets the colors the way we like them the best. But here is the piece of resistance of which I have never seen anywhere before. If the gubment was looking for impartial know nothing TV jurists....well we'd be PERFECT. See, outside seeing these LCD's passingly in the stores we have had NO as in no-ne, zip, nada experience with the things. We been doing 720 plasma for 12-15 years. Period! We're the PERFECT test subjects and I'm gonna deliver my findings right here! After watching some of our favorite graphic heavy movies, of which we have seen so many times that we don't even need to watch them any more to know what's going on visually....got 'em memorized....well now they just look....different. And it took us awhile to figger out how they different. To us the video looks like it was shot back in the late 50's or early 60's with video cameras in the studio. The early DARK SHADOWS shows are a prime example. To save money the shows were shot with your standard for the times studio video camera.....not FILM cameras. Some Twilight Zones were also done that way. You can pick them out of the crowd very easily. They all had THAT look.... And to us.... that is what our new fangled 65" QM8 looks like. We think the reason it's funky to our eyes like that is perhaps because it seems to have a lot more depth than our old 720p TV.... Makes the characters stick out more. That's as close as we can come to calling it the way we see it. If you grew up with LCD then no doubt your eyes could not be made to see it our way. Parting snarf...We're just gonna have to get used to it. Our faces prolly look pretty funny sometimes as we watch stuff we've seen a billion times looking kinda strange different. You start looking for the strange...looking forward to it, actually. It's...strange.

After two weeks, the brightness kept changing. I called TCL and they walked me through a reboot. Now it works fine. Color is great, picture is clear. Best Buy phone center is a trainwreck. I called to change who would be picking it up. They took down his name. But when he went to the store, they said they had no record he would be there. When I went to the store, the associate said that it happens all the time. Always go to the store to make arrangments.

For the price this tv is excellent. The color and contrast is stunning. Extremely deep blacks. Vibrant colors, really jumps off the screen. The only bad thing I have to say about it is, I hoped the motion was as good as the color. I found watching sports was just average. I put it through the all 6 LOTR, beautiful to watch until some action happens. Then it seems to get a little blurry. Still though, I would recommend this tv to anyone looking to stay under $1000

Decided to try mini LED after coming from a LG B7 OLED with bad burn in. My living room is in a bright room, and considering the 65" version of the QM8 cost me the same as a 55" OLED, I decided to try it and return it if I wasn't satisfied. But I'm blown away by the picture. You really have to be really truly looking hard for any blooming (or sitting off-axis; the viewing angles on this set aren't great), but the amount of brightness this thing puts out makes up for it and really makes for a truly eye popping picture.

The QM8 is the second TCL tv I've purchased, and l have no complaints about either. the prices were reasonable, and the picture quality and sound are right up there with some of the bigger manufactures name. I'm a gamer and Elden Ring looks amazing on my QM8. TCL has come a long way since the old days.

    Great Picture/Poor G-Sync Handling

The picture quality is amazing and the blacks are so deep it looks almost as good as my OLED for a third of the price. Not to mention it can get far brighter and with no awful ABL making things grey when snow or white images pop up on the screen. The real problem with this TV and the reason I have to give it 2 stars is that it has issues with G-Sync. If you use a PC with an Nvidia GPU and turn on G-Sync at 4k@120hz the screen will split down the middle and flip the image while aggressively flickering. This happens on both of the QM8s that I've tried. You either have to run the TV at a custom resolution of 4k@118hz (Anything lower than 119hz) or disable VRR/G-Sync entirely. Not sure why. I'm also seeing others report the same thing on Reddit and Youtube with their Nvidia based PCs. Somehow the engineers at TCL must have never decided to test 4k@120hz and G-Sync together.

This TV has the most awesome brightness and crystal clear picture with colors I have never seen a tv produce. TCL has stepped up their game.....best tv I have ever owned. And the sound...I put my Bose Theater away, this thing has great sound.
