Tv is bright. Almost too bright on vivid and standard settings. Colors are outstanding. No viewing angle issues anywhere in large room. Wife and kids mostly watch movies and I use for sports. No motion issues at all. Only negative is I cannot seem to figure out how to pair this tv with my Xfinity remote

There are lots of things to like about the QM8K, from the OLED level blacks, to the near reference level colour, and I would say the only noticible thing that it lacks compared to the Bravia 9 is the power of the Bravia XR processor. At times, such as when you’re watching 4K youtube and a part comes up that requires a lot of image processing from the TV, the UI will begin to lag, but its just the youtube menu being a second or two behind, and then as soon as you exit the video or the app, its completely fine again, so its totally liveable, because realistically how often do you need to do something in the middle of a video, and also the 1 to 2 second delay is very easy to deal with as long as you have a little patience. The picture of the TV is perfect, close to reference, but the Bravia 9 will of course be more accurate, but the QM8K may look brighter and more vivid, so to some people, although the picture is less acurate than Bravia 9, it may look better to them on the QM8K. The zero border design is nice, as well as the overall design and aesthetics of the TV and accessories. Compared to the QM7K, you aren’t going to be totally blown away, like you were when you made the first few hundred dollar jump to get up to the QM7K, you’re paying for 1% differences with the QM8K, just like with the Bravia 9, because the point is that you truly care about how accurate your TV looks, and if you don’t care whether or not your TV is completely accurate, then the QM7K will be fine for you. To put arbitrary numbers to it, the QM7K will have near perfect colour and contrast 95% of the time, meaning 5% of the time, colours may be oversaturated, or you may get some blooming and break the OLED like immersion. The QM8K would be more like 99% of the time, as its not 100% reference accurate, despite being close, and if you know enough about the TV to know where its weak points for blooming are, then you’ll be able to see a little bit of blooming with content that specifically hits those points, but that’s extremely rare to be able to find to begin with, so unless you’re really trying to make the TV bloom or halo, it’s always OLED like precision, and the off angle blooming is much better than the QM7K as well, being near non existent on the QM8K.

This TV delivers all the features I have found in various reviews. It was relatively easy to install the stand. The TV provides great amount of brightness and color, and it works well with my Apple TV streaming device. The smart TV OS itself works very well for streaming. Thus far I am very pleased with this product and happy I purchased it rather than the Samsung OLED TV I had considered, primarily because of fear of OLED burn-in. To my eyes it is very competitive with the OLED.

I got this TCL MiniLED television to replace an 8 year old flat screen. I have another MiniLED TV in our family room and have been really impressed with that so I was excited to get this one.
I had multiple issues with this TV. First, the audio is really bad. I expect audio to be sub-par on these newer TVs, but was hoping for better with the Bang & Olufsen speakers. No such luck. My wife and I both felt it was near unusable with the built-in speakers. That being said, I usually buy a sound bar for our TVs anyway since it makes such a big difference.
The next issue I had was ghosting or motion blur. This is when you see trails behind fast moving images on the screen. The majority of the shows I watch on TV are sports related, so this was a huge issue for me. I was watching a baseball game and could see a white blue behind any thrown or hit balls. Initially, I thought I could eliminate it in the settings and I spent a long time trying different tweaks to the settings, but couldn't get rid of it. Perhaps there is a way to eliminate this, but it should be a lot easier to find if there is a setting.
When we were watching anything other than sports, we never had an issue with motion blur, which is why I gave this a 3 star rating. I go to my primary TV to watch all sports now.
On the positive side, the picture is very bright and colors display accurately. It has standard mounting options so I was easily able to install my existing mount onto the TV and hang it on the wall. It comes with GoogleTV operating system so getting that setup was relatively easy also.
One other negative that I ran into was using a sound bar via the optical input. If you do this, the TV remote cannot control volume of the sound bar. This turns out to be pretty annoying since you need to keep two remotes around...one to control the TV (on/off, channel, etc.) and a separate one for the audio. I never had this issue on other TVs so I'm not sure if this is true for all TCL TVs or just this one.
Overall, this TV is OK. Even though it has a football player on the box, it is not great for watching sports due to the motion blur. Watching everything else seems fine. Audio is also not great. For the suggested retail price and the issues is see with it, I would not recommend this TV.

Amazing picture and wide veiwing angles. Bought this instead of Oled because of its brightness and it delivers. Only con would be remote battery needs to be replaced often.

I drank the kool-aid for all of the online reviews that talked about how good this set was. And it is a good set. The brightness and color reproduction are very good for a mid range set. However, this set (and it would appear most TCL sets) have issues with displaying a quality dolby vision image (the images look washed out). None of the Internet or YouTube reviews that I read discussed this. However, an AI search revealed this info.
However, the set looks fantastic displaying HD and HD10+ video. I was ready to return the set because I use DV on my other two high sets and the images are top notch. However, once I attached an AppleTV 4K to the QM8K and set the output to HD/HD+, I was very impressed and decided to keep the set.

My 65” Hisense died and parts are no longer available so after much research I settled on the QM8. After a few tweaks it presents a remarkable picture. So close to my 77” Sony OLED in black and shadow detail with eye watering color and brightness. 4k HDR looks spectacular and for the money on sale over Thanksgiving it was a great buy.

I bought this for my son as his gaming TV, and I'm a little jealous! I have three QD-OLED's (77" S90D, 55" S95D, 65" A95L) and this QM8K is about 85% of the black levels and color volume, but twice as bright. He games competitively, and seriously loves it. I may buy an 85" for the man cave! It also sounds REALLY good, even has a bit of bass rumble!
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We're thrilled that you are enjoying your TV thus far! Our TVs are designed and engineered to have a quick and easy setup, be user-friendly, and provide a great viewing experience. I have not had the TV very long, but so far it is impressive. Out of the box colors can vary by viewing mode, so it will require some tweaking, but it is bright. Sound is better than I expected but you do have to turn it up pretty high. I recommend at minimum a soundbar.
Streaming 4k looks very good and HD sources can vary by where they are coming from. Very happy so far.

Very impressive picture and sound. I use it with Roku Streaming device and it an excellent combination.
I had a minor issue with one HDMI port blacking out for just a second every few minutes. I contacted TCL customer support and they are excellent. They continually follow-up daily to be sure that the issued got resolved (it did).

I got this TV on sale for $999. At that price, I find it to have an excellent picture with a little fine tuning. However, the shiny surface of the screen reflects everything behind you. I find that very odd in a supposedly high end set.
The remote is garbage. It doesn't even have number keys for direct channel selection when watching broadcast TV. The remote on my LG TV had a pointer you could use by pointing and clicking. With this remote, you have to click click click over and click click click up and down to make selections. It's a pain in the neck. The buttons are also not embossed or raised so you can't really tell what you are pressing without looking.
The stand takes up so much room, I had to balance my sound bar on it and the soundbar blocks reception of the remote.
The little subwoofers on the back of the set are inline with the screw holes for the mounting brackets so you have to find a specific size bracket if you want to wall mount the TV. The sound adjustments are rather limited and I narely notice any difference in the different pre-canned sound settings. I find the sound leveling capabilities to be very poor. I am back to getting blasted by commercials or when changing sources. My previous TV (LG Nanocell 9 series) magically leveled the sound over all sources. I wish this TV did as well.
If I had to pay any more than $999, I would most likely be very disappointed in this TV. Its main redeeming factor is a beautiful and bright picture with very deep blacks and amazing color, providing the source is very high resolution. The TV does a horrible job of displaying lower resolution pictures.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Deep colors and blacks. Very impressive for not being an OLED. Gaming looks and feels great.

This TV has an amazing picture and the colors are so vibrant and the blacks are just as black as my Sony OLED. I was very hesitant to believe that the picture quality could be as good as an OLED, but I must say I’m a believer.

I’m a long time Sony owner and this is my first TCL purchase. I’ve had the QM8K for a week and can say without reservation that it is one of the best value TV purchases on the market. The picture quality is nothing short of amazing in relation to the price. For sports viewing, gaming and even movie watching, I give this model a 5 star recommendation. Yes, the black levels are not on par with the latest OLED screens but that should matter to only really discerning customers. I also believe Google TV is the best TV operating system on the market. Do yourself a favor and switch to apps only mode. The sound is average but aren’t they all?

Upgraded from a 4k LG LED. The picture on this TCL is phenomenal. The reason for the 4 star rating is because the EARC HDMI port is 2.0. I knew this going in but it still is not quite as functional as I had wished. It works fine with only the Apple TV connected to the receiver but, a gaming console connected to the receiver would cause me to lose earc capability when just watching the TV. That is because the receiver would have to be connected to an HDMI 2.1 port on the TV and sound coming from the TV would have to use the optical port. When I have guests and if the TV comes on, everyone comments on how great the picture is. I do not use and I have never heard sound from the TV. Sound has alwsys gone through the receiver.

The TCL QM8K is a really great-looking TV that punches well above its weight. It has a premium, high-end feel from the front, even though it’s a little thick on the back. Google TV runs fast and smoothly and feels like a nice, modern inclusion rather than an afterthought. The TV gets very bright, which makes HDR content pop and works great in well-lit rooms. For the specs you’re getting, the price point is honestly very good, making the QM8K an excellent value overall.

Sharp, bright tv. Great reflection handling. Great off angle viewing. Quick responsive. I could go on, but for my purpose, worth every dollar . Best Buy always takes care of their purchases. I wouldn't buy a TV anywhere else.
