I purchased on sale for $1499. For that price you wont find a better TV. One of the brightest T.V.s I have ever seen. The mini leds allow for so many dimming zones that you get near OLED blacks without the risk of burn in and a tv that's capable of a much brighter picture. It's not perfect, but at the price you won't find an all around better tv than this when its one sale.

THE best 4K value of 2020!
NEARLY OLED level blacks, coupled with FAR greater brightness than any OLED will ever be capable of.
A recipe for STUNNING HDR contrast and highlights.
You may play the panel lottery (as I did) but TCL made it right.
They came and swapped my first one out for horrible dark screen uniformity issues. My replacement has just a hint of DSE at certain times but the overall look and performance is jaw-dropping.

I originally bought the 65 inch, but exchanged it for the 75 when it went on sale. So far I am happy with this TV, I did think the remote was very simple looking, but it actually functions very well, and you really don't need all the extra buttons. The TV picture at times looks amazing, and the screen is bright. The Roku interface is fast and easy to use. Overall great TV, it is heavy though, I wanted to wall mount, but not sure anymore.

I caught this TV on sale at $1,700, then Bestbuy honored the price match when it dropped to $1,500 at a later date. I talked in store with a rep who went through my needs and suggested this TV. Couldn't have had a better experience and pointed me to the exact TV that met my needs. This TV has a great picture, simple to use remote, and comparable to TVs with price tags much higher than this one. I would definitely recommend this TV if you don't need all the phone connectivity. Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 are the weight its 100lbs, thicker than other TVs in this size, and the screen has some issues with motion and I have tried multiple combinations of motion settings. The blur is better than my previous top of the line Samsung. In no way is it a deal breaker. The images are crisp/clear and you will be happy not spending considerably more for a bigger brand. Don't be afraid of the TCL brand, I think they are awesome! Highly recommended!

This tv is amazing with color sound and style! Updates and calibration will depend on viewer but out the box it’s amazing and sharp. The blacks are deep and colors pop and the box it comes in is huge and attractive! The tv does save you power if unattended where people will think it’s a glitch but not! Watch into the spider verse first mi ie then something like the dark knight you’ll enjoy !

TCL'S flagship tv overall delivers a great picture with bright colors and deep blacks due to the mini led backlighting! It does have some issues common to most lcd tvs but I replaced an lg oled tv that had burn in with this and I can say that it looks pretty close in picture quality and can certainly get very bright with HDR content!
The one thing I would recommend if you decide this is the one for you is it will take some experimenting in the HDR modes with different content to get the best picture ...and it may require you to change it depending on what your watching.
For example....watching youtube HDR... the setting looks best in Dark HDR mode.
Watching a movie from a streaming service requires me to change to HDR bright to look it's best.
Dolby Vision content seems to look best on Normal.
That said...you will be very happy at the picture this TV can produce and I believe it was overlooked when the 6 series came out with mini led which has fewer dimming zones but is top rated.
Pick it up while you can!

I took a chance on this TV after it went on 1/2 off sale. The boys at the local store were prompt and loaded it up in my pickup and did a fine job of being careful. I strapped it down and headed home. It was packaged well but it takes 2 to put the stand on and lift it without torquing the screen and risking damaging the panel so please save yourself the headache of trying to be a hero and doing it by yourself.
Turned it on and the factory settings were way too bright for my liking but sure its set that way to give the wow factor in a bright lit room. I chose this TV for its good rating and brightness when watching SDR content which will be 90% of the time and after i toned the settings down to my liking it looked very nice. The top right corner had a little light leakage but overall for a LCD it was good. I own a LG OLED 55" C6P and the blacks on the TCL are not even close. Where this TV shines is in SDR in the daytime. good colors after calibration and good motion handling as I din't notice and smearing or ghost affect.
I will update again in a few weeks after getting to watch more HDR content. But so far to me this TV is the best bang for the buck at the 75" range for now with the 1/2 off price sale. I would rate it just ahead of the Samsung Q70T and Sony X900H

Overall, we like the TV since it has a great picture and comes with the Roku OS, and we got it at a great one-day sale price. However, it started doing an occasional freeze and reboot about 7 months after our purchase. The first one occurred soon after a software update so we hoped that the next update would correct it. Well, it's been six months and a few updates since then and the reboots are still happening. They only happen 2-3 times per month, so they aren't a showstopper--more of a nuisance. We contacted support and tried their advice to no success. Unfortunately the warranty period has ended so that is not an option and its not bad enough to send in for repair. We are still hoping for a software resolution and i am going to try and active cooling solution to see if that helps.

I bought this TV for my girls playroom downstairs as they watch mostly streaming shows and they prefer the roku interface.
I got it on sale for $1800 (75") as I was debating the samsung Q90R and I took a chance based on the preference of the roku format for my daughter.
The picture quality was excellent out of the box and the mini LED design has no blooming on the subtitles.
Then on Labor day the priced dropped to $1500 and my theater room upstairs needed a TV as well and I bought another. I ended up choosing this over a samsung Q900ts and Q800T because of the dirty screen effects seen on the displays at the store. I briefly considered the Sony Z8H which is absolutely stunning in the picture quality when an 8k source is present, but ultimately I decided with so little 8k content that it wasn't worth 4 times the price of the TCL to get that extra 10% picture quality upgrade.
Don't pay the $3,000 price tag and wait for a good holiday sale and this is the best TV for the price that you can buy.

Ok. Ive never owned a oled. And i even believe an oled may be better. I do own a vizio p series 2018 model. This tv looks much better on almost everthing i throw at it. I have a bright room so that may have some to do with it. So in my environment if i had to choose a 1500 to 1800 dollar option based on the average joe... This is an upgrade by a long shot over vizio and really puts samsung on notice. I no longer need a soundar... I cant believe it and the picture watching hdr avengers infinity wars now. The picture is an unbelievable upgrade. If your on the fence and vizio quantum x vs this... I cant?believe im saying this... Go for this!! Its a big upgrade. I have had vizio for years.. This is hands down better. Buy it on sale. 1500... 1800 definitely worth it. More than that, well the upgrade is still there but so is oled. But for 1500... 1800 this is a real deal.

I'd been following reviews on the TCL 8 series since it first came out. I was deliberating between it and the LG OLED. Me plasma set was still giving me excellent service, so I held out. So, when the TCL 75Q825 went on sale for $1499, half price, I jumped on it. I even told my brother in Cali about it and he ordered one. I was prepaired for the improved blacks and color, Iwas not prepared for the brightness. It's taken a couple of weeks to get used to the picture, but I'm am thrilled that I waited and got this great a TV for such a good price. I don't regret not buying an OLED. My brother is happy with his too.

I am not a professional TV reviewer and don't have the tools to measure black level and blah, blah blah :) This is my 3rd TCL. Never disappointed. Was bouncing between this and the Q8. With the COVID shutdown I bought this (sight unseen) on a Memorial Day special ($1,200 off @ $1,700), could not resist the price. Delivered as promised. 3 weeks in and I am beyond thrilled. The picture is amazing. Sound quality is better than many TVs I have heard, but I am using a sound bar. I absolutely love this TV. HDR product is stunning, and I can't describe the 4K. I honestly can not say enough positive.

Best TV for price you can buy right now. I used to be a video engineer so understand what it means to have a great panel. Purchased to replace a Kuro Plasma which looked amazing and this is much brighter and more energy efficient. Got a great deal on it at Best Buy and although it's not OLED it has much more brightness available if you have a lot of sunlight etc. coming into your viewing space. After a couple of hours of color correcting the panel is pretty much spot on. No artifacts to complain about. Having the ROKU built in is a plus although I don't really use it much as I have an Apple TV hooked up through my Marantz Pre/Pro. eArc audio passthrough is working properly with Atmos. Highly Recommended!!

These TVs likely will not be around much longer until the 2020 model is out but these are AWESOME TVs.
Oled like blacks and contrasts with amazing HDR and Dolby Vision support.
Native 120Hz refresh and do not be confused with the TCL TVs in the past you walked by at your big box store. This is high end look, feel and feature platforms that are nothing like budget TVs.
Best of all is you get Roku built in and you don't need to fear being abandoned 2 years later.
Support for next gen consoles and eARC receivers.
Look for these on sale if you are lucky as their MSRP is a little high.
I have 3 (a 75" and two 65") Series 8 TVs and say you will not be disappointed.

Excellent brightness, color, contrast (25K mini LEDs), HDR support, LED black level, black uniformity, BFI
Good input lag, software UI, motion control, app support.
Descent gray uniformity, DSE, gradient, viewing angle (for a VA LCD)
Mediocre PC resolution capability, reflection,
Note: high local contrast produces excellent blacks at the expense of 5 & 10 % gray scale. Lesser local contrast restores near blacks but introduces some clouding. (Recent update seemed to lessen clouding on my set).
My set could likely be even better with pro calibration, but it's still a great $2100 tv and a phenomenal $1400 tv without.

Love this TV. After extensive research I was looking for a TV that had the greatest brightness for my vision impaired wife. While she originally scoffed at this, a year later she turned to me at someone else's house and commented "O.K., our TV is waaay brighter... Thank you." The Roku interface is excellent, the picture is top notch, and it has been incredibly reliable over the past 18 months. My next TV will definitely be a TCL

First, this is a really good tv. The picture is beautiful, bright, and rich with colors. I did a side by side comparison with my 65" C9 OLED, and there were many instances that the TCL truly held its own. I can assure anyone who buys this tv, you will be impressed.
For those who enjoy the Roku user interface, it will be very familiar. You can access more apps and content than pretty much any other option out there. And it's made simple by the fact that the Roku search will look across apps for you. This is so much easier than trying to search online to see if and where a movie is steaming. The TV is solidly built (which also means it is on the heavier side for a tv), and it has an upscale look to the design.
Now some of the caveats. TCL has historically had an issue with quality control and you may well have to go through 2 or 3 of these before you get a high quality panel. The primary issue is known as dirty screen effect, which is technically a lack of uniformity in the pixel illumination across the panel. You can see this when the video is something like looking into the sky with clouds and panning across the sky. You will see what looks like dirty spots (or slightly darker) in some areas of the screen. The only way to "fix" this is to take the TV back and exchange for another one. If you don't mind the possibility of having to do that, then you will be able to get a good panel that does not have this issue.
The next caveat is that the TV does not have many of the additional features one might expect from a premium set. These include bluetooth, eARC (though it does have ARC), VRR, and a few others. Keep in mind that these are really small things that most buyers won't care about. I only point it out because this TV started out as a $3000 premium set from TCL. It has sold for as little as $1500 more recently, which is really a good buy. You won't be disappointed with the quality of the picture, the ease of the Roku app interface, and even gaming (for the casual gamer).

Decided to buy this series 8 75” instead of an Oled around September 1st, 2020. Got it on sale for $1500 plus tax, so less than half the cost of an Oled. Picture is great, and we love the simple, but not backlighted, remote.
But it has a quirk: When we change channels using a video source, such as Hulu, the screen frequently goes mostly black, with strange images for several seconds. My research revealed this results from the TV either upscaling the video signal from low resolution to high, or maybe the reverse. It’s a minor inconvenience, and as long as it doesn’t get worse I won’t care.
I was really concerned about screen burn in with an Oled, especially at a cost of nearly $4k, and these TCLs are not supposed to be susceptible to that.
We also love the Roku formatting. It is super simple to navigate from Hulu to Netflix to other sources very quickly.
The packaging is very robust. Be prepared to make a trip to the dump to get rid of it.
Definitely requires at least two people to set up as it weighs 100 pounds.
CNET scores this Tv high, but they assumed a cost of $3k. At $1500 it is a great buy, if you can find one. Best Buy discounts them frequently, so check their website once a week. It took about 10 days for Best Buy to get one in stock for me.
Best Buy would not deliver to my zip, so you may need to drive. If you do, bring full size truck, as this isn’t supposed to be laid down in the back of a Subaru or anything else. You will have to transport it in the upright position.
I find the sound quality to be acceptable, and I won’t be getting a sound bar. I have it hooked up to a home theater system for watching action movies.
Once set up, watch “Planet Earth.” It will blow your mind. I fiddled with the settings a little, which are easy to adjust. You should adjust yours to your preferences too to enjoy it most. 4.8 stars
