I’ll preface my review by saying this is my first TCL TV; all other tv’s i’ve owned have been either LG or Samsung. That being said, I had high expectations given the performance and quality of the Big 2 flagships. The Good: This tv does many things well. It’s a testament to how far TCL has come in a relatively short period of time. Graphically, this tv can compete with the likes of Samsung, Sony, and LG. At its release it was the brightest tv available and I’m partial to a very bright picture; no joke this panel can make you wince at times. The color palette is phenomenal as well but will likely take some tweeking to get just right. 4K hdr content is stunning and very comparable to OLED quality. While I use a high fidelity sound system, I found the rear speakers to be quite good. The Google TV interface is very easy to navigate and very responsive. I actually found it to have less lag and froze up less than did my Samsungs. It’s also much easier to enter the settings menu when compared to a lot of the big brands. Shortfalls: While I am very pleased with this tv, I did have a few gripes. First, some of the panel aesthetics look cheap, especially the back. I did however appreciate that the 85” and up models were actually thinner than the 65” and 75” models. I’m also not a huge fan of the two legs and prefer the center mount stand but I ended up wall mounting it so no big deal. My biggest gripe with the tv is it’s displaying of 1080 content. While I can easily say 4k content is as good as my oled, 1080 content just doesn’t look as crisp despite playing with the settings. Although the colors are great, it seems to have noticeably more blur. If you’re using the tv primarily for 4k or gaming, this won’t be an issue. Lastly, this tv is HEAVY. Weighing in at over 100 pounds, it can be awkward. All in all this is a great tv and an awesome value. At this price point there’s not much else that comes close (Hisense being the main competition). Comparing this to the Samsung QN900 or LG G series oled, I think it holds its own and is even better in some regards. If price were not a factor I probably would have gone with the Samsung, but I just didn’t feel that the price point warranted spending several thousand dollars more.

The TCL QM8 is everything we hoped for in a replacement TV. The picture jumps from the screen with vibrant colors and crisp details. I'm not a fan of the Google interface, but it is very easy to switch it to Roku .... just by inserting a Roku Streaming Stick into a HDMI port. The built-in audio system is robust. I've experienced no picture degradation with off center viewing in a 22x25 room. Best Buy delivery was as promised. I installed a Govee TV ambient backlighting system for a truly dynamic viewing experience.

Be prepared to search for rhe right mount for this TV. 600 x 500 Vesa is hard to find. Best buy sold us a mount in store during purchase that would not work! Finally after several days searching we found one that works online. Otherwise the TV has a beautiful picture and as I jokingly tell people you can see the pores in the actors faces ots that big and clear!

Colors are very vibrant - frames move smoothly with movies and gaming. Love the 85 in filling out the wall. Recommend getting a sound bar so you can have your home theater experience/gamer cave. Google tv software pairs well with your smart home devices.

This TCL 85” tv screen presents a clear picture along with great sound. No sound bar needed. We enjoy watching the different sporting events on this screen. Easy to adjust the color and contrast.

Terrible for watching sports. Ball is blurry while watching anything that moves fast like golf or baseball.

TCL's enters the high end TV market with the QM8 series and I wanted to give it a shot as my previous top of the line TV was almost 10 years old. I purchased this TV because I felt it was a great deal compared to other brands like Samsung & Sony with similar specs. Out of the box I noticed the brightness first. It was extremely bright compared to my old TV. I actually had to turn down the brightness even in a room with a lot of natural sunlight. Apps felt so much smoother, tested it on all the major stuff like Netflix, MAX, YoutubeTV etc. It handled motion pretty well when watching NFL games. I tried played several Switch games and the colors looked amazing, no input lag. I did try connecting my PC to play Hogwarts Legacy but it didn't look that great, then again this is not meant to be a monitor. Set up, mounting, etc were all very easy. I paired it with the Sonos Arc which had no issues. The only thing I noticed was that I don't see the volume numbers when adjusting volume. I just get a indicator but I read that this happens on all brands of TVs so it's not just a TCL thing. I even tried it with my friend's Samsung and it does the same thing I just get a +/- indicator. Overall a great TV and excellent choice as the price to performance ratio is outstanding. I recommended to all my friends.

Once you get the TV adjusted it is a very good picture. Movies in 4K are amazing, and if you are into sports this is where I almost returned this TV. The motion on this TV is not the best, and it took a lot of adjusting to not see 4 baseballs crossing the diamond on a throw, To get this resolved I had to use the dynamic setting that increases the refresh rate to 144hz, and there are 2 motion settings that are supposed to help with motion, but I had to move them down to 0 and that actually helped and I no longer see multiple baseballs on a play. The TV out of the box everything is set to max and it take some patience and a lot of adjusting to get to the right colors and picture quality and things in motion. This took me a couple of weeks and watching a variety of shows and movies to get everything set. So, for a mini LED TV at this price point it gets a 4-star rating. There are better TVs out there, but you will spend twice the money, and I am not convinced you will get twice the picture quality. Once it is adjusted the picture quality is amazing. There is no blooming, the blacks are crisp, and the sound quality is better than any of my other TVs. So, for movies and TV great picture, for sports not the best, but tolerable after adjustments.

An amazing TV. No regrets. Colors and brightness are unmatched. There is no visible difference in the blacks compared to OLED. Don't let the OLED hype boys tell you otherwise. Anti-glare is better than most. And the view angle that might appear as a negative up-front becomes a positive if you have side windows in the room of placement. This can help reduce side window glare in the evenings. Even if you have seating off to the side of the room, the colors don't wash out much until you're very far off angle. Sound is decent, but anyone buying a TV this size should have a sound system. Don't pay thousands extra for minimal improvements. Do yourself a favor and buy this TV already. Absolutely the best bang for your buck right now.

Bought this to replace an old 52" Sony Bravia from 2009. Wow! What a difference. It's a bright room, first of all, and the brilliance of the picture on this baby is amazing! Color hues and saturation have plenty of adjustment range, picture is extremely crisp, contrast is more than adequate. We are enjoying a different experience in TV watching!

This TV brand gave me such a pleasant surprise. I was reluctant in trying a brand other than what I knew but, wow, I love it. The colors are bright and crisp, sound is on point. I am very happy with it
