One of the Hold Steady's Best
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a fan of the band for a few years. Each album has gotten heavy rotation in my CD player. This album is probably one of their strongest, in terms of storytelling and it's different in that it features more actual singing than the sing-speak of previous albums. If you're a fan of the band, you'll love the route this album goes.

Rock on
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty cool, and still better than a lot else on the market. However, it's easy to see that the gritty bar band glory days that drew me to them have morphed into arena rock ambitions. Lyricism still doesn't suffer though.

Meh
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While I certainly don't expect this band to remake Almost Killed Me or Separation Sunday ad nauseum, this record was kinda boring. Maybe the Evanaescence producer? The previous album had kind of been panned, but I enjoyed it. This is my least favorite so far by this band, but maybe it will grow on me.
